Your Decision
That is really my biggest fear:confused_smile: with surgery gaining my weight back. So I agree with the 'safety' of knowing a fill will be that back up tool to slow you down is veryyyy attractive to me as well.

Thank you! I think the Dr. did say that over the long term the pounds even out so with the other 2. So for example they lose a lot up front vs lapband is more steady loss and in like 2-3 years they are basically even in terms of weight loss results. I like that I am not really looking to drop 100 pounds in 6 months anyway

alli anyone??
Hi, I have not had wls I am really just in the 'fact finding stage' but I don't think your post was funny at all!:wink2: In fact it is a real concern I have for myself as I figure out what I should do. All I can offer is a sincere suggestion to seek therapy to work through your issues with why you use food in that way and why you are engaging in self sabotaging behavior. I found a really good therapist last year and it was very helpful doing one on one as well as group therapy about goal setting. I am just realizing that it is very, very hard to lose weight the old fashion way and the statistics on keeping it off are very, very slim. I did lose 45 pounds but the body/mind connection is a serious thing and I had to realize even if I lose 100 pounds I would still be considered “overweight” I am only 5’2’’. Anyway all of that is to say don’t look for another ‘magic bullet’ if you are paying DEMAND a consult with your doctor that is their job but people will get away with giving you sub par treatment if you let them. Find a therapist it can be a counselor you don't need to pay for a psychiatrist or psychologist, heck you could get a life coach! I hope that is helpful to you!

Hello My Sisters..........I lost my band yesterday!!
Hi Sheena, When I went to the informational on Monday they were really "selling" the sleeve and it does sound like a good alternative! Please check back in with us along your journey!

Your Decision
That is great Silve Fox!!!!:wink2: I agree the weight does not come on over night so if it takes a year or so that is still great. It took me almost a year to lose 45 pounds so I am willing to be patient it would still be fastest (in theory) so that is still great!!!

Your Decision
Thanks! I am in Baltimore County!! :wink2: Yes the sleeve seems to be what they are really "selling" and you are right it has the same possibility of stretching as with gastric. Its a shorter surgery and she explained that it was a procedure that has been used for years for things like stomach cancer and a side effect was significant weight loss so it slowly evolved into another wls and they have data on the weight loss effect primarily from these other type of patients. And this in not to speak badly of myself but I know myself if I do anything it would have to be something that gives me long term control.

Thanks so much for your post Jacqui! I think I feel the same way in terms of the pro's of this type of procedure. You look great btw!!

Tomorrow is the big day!!
Congrats!!! God Bless!!! Elbert Hubbard said "Many people fail in life, not for lack of ability or brains or even courage but simply because they have never organized their energies around a goal." You now will have a stong tool and a support system here so organize your energies around THIS goal which is to be healthier and lose weight with the lapband as a tool. Forget all the other attempts today is a new day for you and only you can determine your out come!!! Good Luck please check in when you can!!!

A typical day in the life?
That's my issue I am a volume eater I don't have a favorite anything to be honest I can just eat and eat and eat. WW & therapy did help with that but as soon as I slack up like I started trying to date more my working out or cooking falls off and everything falls apart. I need to give up men for Lent this year! :wink2: Good luck with fill #4!!! :cursing: You are brave I am such a Scaredy Cat  You are now my lap band idol!!! Looking forward to your updates!

Its sounds like you used a excellent WLS center! This hospital I am looking into seems very hands on like what you are saying. They have a nutritionist you are required to meet with before and after and there is a program fee of $150.00 that covers that as well as unlimited dietary consultations with her for 1 year. They even require that you pass a nutrition test in order to schedule surgery! :wink2: I guess that's a good thing:closedeyes: Man oh man you ladies are so helpful! Thank you! I am thinking I may want to start adding some protien shakes or slim fast type drinks and Soup to my diet now just so it isnt a total shock to the system!

Ladies what helped you to make up your mind to go with the lapband procedures vs. gastric bypass or the gastric sleeve? I will be honest, at the seminar I went to they seem to be in favor of the sleeve and they didn’t do a good job of “selling” the lapband procedure. I am really drawn to the lapband b/c of the long term accountability. I have known a few people who got gastric and slowly gained back a lot of weight. The Dr. made the point that the idea is to pick the best one that works for you and your lifestyle and not say let me try the lap band and if that doesn’t work I can do another (because there can be significant scar tissue in any procedure which would make a second surgery difficult). She also added that lapband is "this much help" as she held her index and thumb finger about 1 or 2 inches apart. What reason/s did you have to get the lapband (where ever you are on your journey)? When you went to the seminar what if any vibe did they give you about the options available to you? Thanks!

That makes sense I was shocked to read the thing about the diet pills anyway! Let me ask another question when you drink liquids do you feel the same in terms of fullness as when you eat the pudding? That's good that you can now have soft foods. That is something they didn't give us as a hand out what kind of foods/liquids we would be able to have. I am trying to wrap my mind around 14 days of liquids!
