SomeBigGuy reacted to msjerseystyle in Absolutely hate myself now
It is like a breakup of a relationship. It really hurts at first, you feel loss, scared, isolation and it’s hard to imagine that you will ever be happy again. Then one day there’s a spark, you notice that you’re singing along on the radio and think to yourself, I’m going to be ok. I got this.
There’s a reason you took this journey. You were unhappy, perhaps suffering from depression and health issues related to obesity. This tool will help you lose weight, but it’s not a tool to help you love yourself or lose fear of the unknown.
Definitely take the route of self help right now to help you process these feelings. If you do not have insurance for therapy join Overeaters Anonymous. The resources is free and will provide you with 24/7 support online.
I’m praying that you will have a change of perception about your experience! You’re a brave and capable person that made the decision to change your health and you’re well on your way to a better you. God bless. 🙏🏻

SomeBigGuy reacted to Dayl in December Surgery Buddies!
Just got sleeved Monday December 11th. Surgeon said everything was perfect and my liver shrinking diet worked. Nurse said I was her best sleeve patient ever. Very little pain, no nausea, and no vomiting.

Sleeved 12/7 - I swear I don’t feel like I even had anything done besides zero hunger and 16 pounds lost. No pain meds. No issues with getting fluids or any Protein source down. No sleeping issues except maybe a little insomnia but I’ve always had that so nothing new. 🥳 one week into my new better self.

SomeBigGuy got a reaction from KathyLev in Gaining Weight
Sorry to hear you're dealing with all of this, it sounds rough. I know not all seasons of life can lend itself to it, but stress will cause the body to retain fat and prevent burning it. If there's any way to unload some of the stress, either by working out, meditation, going to a "rage room" where they let you smash stuff, anything that helps, it will help the weight loss process resume. I know its not always possible, having just come out of a season of life that felt like constant stress for 8 years with no seeming end. It was like I couldn't lose weight regardless of what I did, but I was always in a state of stress. I'm definitely not living a stress free life by any means now, but after years of therapy and practice, I guess I'm a little better at managing it now.
That being said, my surgeon suggested a "reset" if weight regain happens 1 year+ after surgery. It was basically go back to the pre op diet to jump start things for a couple weeks, then slowly start adding back items from your normal diet, but keep watch to see if any of those are causing a stall or regain. Focus on hydration first, then Protein, then unsaturated fat, then other fats, AND THEN carbs last. I wouldn't go as extreme as Keto, but try to aim for single digit carbs per serving of something, or under 50-60g per day. Carbs are easy energy for our bodies, so it prefers to burn that first, and store any excess as fat, just as a survival mechanism. Everyone is slightly different, but some people's metabolism can be thrown off by certain imatation sugars and sugar alcohols. Even though they're 0 or low calorie, they can still trigger an insulin response like sugar or starches. You may want remove the biscuits for the time being and see if those may be the trigger for your body.
Best of luck to you, and hoping things improve for you from here. Stay strong!

Glad to know I'm not the only one to experience it.
Question: Anyone have a fav. broth, Bone Broth, or recipe for one? Started my Pre-op liquid diet on Monday and the weather has been insanely cold. Craving something warm in my belly.

Had my surgery on 12/4. Not feeling much pain just incredibly weak. I’m not hungry or thirsty and I’ve had a hard time keeping awake. Todays the first day I’ve stayed up longer then an hour. For me, room temp or warmer liquids are easiest to get down. I hate sweet things at the moment.

SomeBigGuy reacted to Fred in Pa in Gaining Weight
First and foremost, if you are religious person, pray. Pray for God to deliver you from the situation, and to give you the strength to face these most difficult times.
Second, try to find some quiet time and meditate. Go back to your time pre-surgery in your mind. Try to evoke the feelings you felt and the reason for getting the surgery…try to put yourself in your body, how you felt all the emotions and the feelings. Then live each day after the surgery again, thinking about how good you felt with losing the weight. Try to reclaim the positive feelings and the motivation you had to be that new person. Find that place again…live in it…let it be a part of you.
Third, find distractions. Exercise, walk, hobbies, etc. Find anything to get you away from the biscuits.
Fourth, don’t buy them! Walk past them. Buy something more healthy to snack on.
Finally, know that you are not alone, there will be ups and downs in your journey. Weakness and strength will come and go…come here often…ask for help…ask for support… ask for motivation and don’t forget the most important thing, PRAY.

SomeBigGuy got a reaction from Christina B1128 in Sick of Protein Shakes
Stick to the Protein Shakes and Soups as much as you can. Try different brands, because I will say the Fairlife ones tasted way better than muscle milk, and were different enough from Premier Protein that felt like I wasn't drinking the same old shake every time. Peanut Butter is relatively carb heavy, and if you're doing the pre-op diet to shrink your liver, it will offset it. I did cheat a little bit with Fage brand nonfat, unflavored greek yogurt since it was only 5g of carbs, around 17g of Protein, and more of a savory meal item than a sweet one. It didn't offset my liver prep progress. I will say the pre-op diet was harder for me than the post-op, so look forward to that.

SomeBigGuy got a reaction from Courtnay in Messed up preop diet
Great to hear! Just a theory, but I think there's just enough people that flat out defy the pre-op diet completely that they just give a super strict diet plan to allow for some deviation, while still preparing the liver for surgery. I went off mine a little by including non-fat greek yogurt, but it got me through the shakes during the pre-op diet.

SomeBigGuy reacted to ZeeGee in November 2023 buddies
Had mine on the 16th of November and literally just started going down yesterday.
you were pumped with different kinds of heavy meds & IV fluids in hospital, that takes a few weeks for your body to flush out.
Keep doing what you’re doing and it will come off
