Hi all. I am going to have a gastric sleeve revision from Lap-Band. I got the band placed on 10/15/2010 and initially did very well. I started at about 280 and got down to 172 in about 18 months. Then, probably around 2015 I started regaining weight after falling back on unhealthy habits. I have had some issues with the band (food getting stuck, vomiting) the entire time I have been banded. I have gained back about 90 lbs. I also have Non-alcoholic fatty Liver disease (NASH) diagnosed earlier this year, after being on methotrexate for RA for 10 years. There is no medication available to treat NASH.
So, my liver disease is the main reason I'm having the revision, since the band has failed me. I have to lose a significant amount of weight to help my liver. I am also a fitness professional, and I have to admit sometimes I feel very embarrassed when a new student that doesn't know me comes to my class or meets me for the first time prior to a personal training session. I have become very good at reading faces and I can feel the judgment and doubt seeping from them, and honestly I can't hardly blame them. I'm not your typical looking fitness professional. If you didn't know how I run a class or training, you probably wouldn't work with me; however, since I feel a need to "prove" myself, I make my classes more challenging, so everybody wins haha.
I am grateful for this second chance at improving my health.
