LewiB got a reaction from ChunkCat in 1 Day Post Op
I called and the doctor said that it could be the start of my blood thinners and or all the pressure inside my abdomen with the gas and all that and I’ve never had a surgery before especially not one this major!

Huh, that's so weird. Everywhere I've been catheters are used for surgeries expected to last an hour or more. I even had one placed for a 45 min surgery. I wonder if that's why you had bleeding? From pressure in your bladder during the time you were out? Either way hopefully they figure out what's up! Glad it seems to be abating...

I'm assuming you had a catheter in for surgery? UTIs after catheter use aren't unusual and sometimes you can have one without symptoms so you may want to have them check for that at some point. Congrats on your surgery!!

Yes I did my blood thinner injections for two weeks post op. They are easy to do and the needle is so thin that I barely felt it.
I would keep an eye on the blood in your urine though and perhaps contact your bariatric team to report it.

Congratulations on your surgery. Walk and drink and rest are the order of the day.
Yes I had Blood thinner injections. They are easy to do but can be a bit stingy. The bruising on my belly looked brutal but its to be expected. I was supposed to take them for a month [I think] but binned the last week. I

Hey everyone I am 1 day post op and still have a bit of gas coming through which is expected but happy to be in a normal bed instead of the hospital! Anyone else have to do blood thinner injections? Was it easy to do on yourself?

How have you felt within these last few months in your weight loss? Like do you feel more energetic? More enthusiastic?
You’re doing great! My doctor says you will introduce food a little at a time as If you were like a child eating new things for the first time!

My 1st post op appointment went great. I got to ask all my questions. He gave me answers with no attitude. Very attentive. Freaking love my doctor. I’m cleared to go back to work, chew gum, drink from a straw, exercise a lil more and go to the chiropractor! Still liquid phase for a few more days. Then semi soft, soft, firm, and then real food. Im so excited. And Im also 17 lbs down 11 days post op. 💪🏾

Hi everyone! I had gastric bypass on May 10th. I have lost 60 pounds. I struggle because even this far out ( almost 3 months) I puke a lot which is really discouraging. I’m existing on high Protein Greek yogurt, Protein Shakes, baked and mashed potatoes. I can eat some ground beef. No bread, chicken, eggs and several other things. My surgeon says it’s normal and to just reintroduce foods again later. I do not want to be regretful but sometimes I am. Anyway just being transparent and looking for encouragement. I am happy with the weight loss though. I just don’t want to exist on yogurt the rest of my life. 😌

Not to bad, In the beginning it was a little rough, took a few days for my stomach to adjust to just having liquid, and now I have been getting a little bit of nausea here at the end stretch, but from all that I have read that is common.

    Hello everyone!
I'm new to the forum and didn't really know where to begin, so I figured why not start a thread about my journey?
So, I've always been kind of obese (there were a few years that I lost a lot of weight sticking to a low carb diet) I hovered around 300lbs give or take for many years. In 2012 during a divorce, I ballooned all the way up to 365lbs and I swore I'd never get to that point again. I started doing low carb and got all the way down to 235lbs before getting re-married and gaining back about 50lbs. During COVID in 2020, I just completely fell apart and ended up getting to my all-time highest weight of 385lbs.
I drive trucks for a living and in August of 2022, I had to go for a sleep apnea test and I failed miserably. Failing the sleep apnea test put my career in jeopardy. I decided immediately afterwards to contact my local hospital about bariatric surgery and immediately started a 6 month program in October, 2022. Since I had already had the sleep apnea test and failed, I'd already knocked that part out at least.
I literally just got back from my final doctors appointment and they told me that it's up to my insurance provider to approve or deny me for surgery. I'm really excited but also really nervous. The only time I've ever stayed in a hospital overnight was to take my sleep apnea tests.
I started this journey at 385lbs, today I weighed in at 365lbs. I had my ups and downs, but I'm really looking forward to this journey and really looking forward to getting to know everyone and to share my journey.

Had a thought. You could possibly have an egg flip. Blend egg, milk vanilla & a little nutmeg or cinnamon. But check with your team.

😁Newbie here as well and I just started my liquid diet on Monday. I’m on day 3 and can say that it has been less of a hangry day than the first 2 days for me. I’m usually a night snacker so that time has been the hardest, and chewing Jello only does so much for me. 11 more days for me until my surgery. Stay strong over there!

Unfortunately no. eggs are a solid food. liquids mean you have to be able to drink the ‘food’ - no chewing.

I'm on day 2. Thankfully my surgeon allows unlimited sugar free Jello and Popsicles, cottage cheese, broth. Then 1 time day 3 oz of Protein and up to 3 cups of green. (Spinach, broccoli, lettuce, cucumbers,) last day it's strictly clear liquids.

Hi there!! The goal of this is to decrease the size of your liver. This is very important for the surgeon to have the liver recede to avoid complications. Use this time to focus on your eating habits, why you eat and keep a journal. If you are stressed, anxious etc. This helped me down the road. I am a grazer and I never paid attention to what I ate. I wanted it I ate it. Period! Take the time you have pre op to learn about your bad eating, use the tools available to you (Meal plan! stick to it to a T!!!!!). We are at various stages of our weight loss journey on here and I found during my preop period that I had to focus on MY journey and where I was at in the process. You really need to slow things down and take it one day at a time. Set yourself up for success by using the tools that you are given, and take your own "will" out of the drivers seat. The surgery is only one part of the journey. The rest is on you and what you do each day to maintain your body. You can't go back to the same eating habits you had prior and expect to lose weight. Its very much a conscious effort on your part. Enjoy the journey and understand this is the first step to a new life. Its mind over matter at this point.

I found that they key for me was staying BUSY. I worked obsessively with my job, but also projects at home to make sure the house was in great shape for when I got home from surgery. Bottom line: this will pass!

I don’t believe I’m allowed to eat any solid foods. I planned on calling my surgeon to validate that I’m supposed to be on a full liquid diet.

And yes! I did 3 shakes yesterday (breakfast, lunch, dinner) with 2 Jello cups for a snack in between and a popsicle if I just need to chew something. It’s day 2 and so far I feel less irritated than I did yesterday lol so we are moving along okay! I do however feel a bit nauseous which I’m sure is normal
