I had to Share this day with you guys! Look at that calorie Burn! I hiked Enchanted Rock, and Turkey Peak in the same day. Still only ate about 800 calories that day! Plenty of Water though! 61 Pounds down, and 20 to go!

Hey there everyone having surgeries in December! Good Luck, its going to be worth it in the long run. I had my Surgery in July. I am already 66 pounds down and only 15 pounds away from my goal.
Just follow the rules, do what your doctor recommends, and eat right! You will be amazed at the results. I was nervous just like all of you!

    You both are doing great!!!
I was sleeved 7/6/23 as well- the recovery went well.
I do not believe my sleeve was too restrictive as I can eat small meals without discomfort. I do limit my caloric intake to under 1000 calories per day (I track) and I do not eat simple carbs. I have been eating some fruits which I am cutting back on.
I weighed in 3 days ago at 187 lbs, so I am down 43 lbs post surgery, 80 lbs since my first bariatric appointment.
I have been in the middle of stall for the last 2 weeks. Hoping it breaks soon.
The weight loss has definitely slowed, but based on reading others' experience, I am not going to worry at this point. I wanted to be at least 167 lbs by the 6 month mark, but I've lost very little in the last 4 weeks- don't think I'll make it. Anyway, the goal is what matters.
    Good luck to you all!

    Surgery was Jan 2021.
Still not at "my" goal, but getting there slowly. Need to buckle down a bit. Funniest part about these pics is that you can see my belt!

These are so great, I would also add:
Tying my shoes without getting out of breath
    Cross my legs with ease
Wondering if i am going to fit into the chair/airplane seat/roller-coaster etc.

Pro's - I am no longer disabled, diabetic or have high blood pressure or lymphoedema. I have become a ultra confident person instead of a house mouse. I am all the things that I always want to be
The only con that I can think of is my saggy skin but hey ho, I live in the UK. Its usually wet and cold and when wrapped up in clothes, I look great

October 5, 2022 was my surgery date. Forward one year and it has been wonderful. Got on the scale today and was at 198. So not only did I finally get to "onederland" but have lost 163lbs. My bmi is 28 opposed to 50+. I couldn't have done it without my bariatric team, friends and family cheering me along the way. I'm so thankful and even though I still want to lose about 25 lbs, I find it amazing with the tool of gastric sleeve, my life has changed so much.

You are right it is a long term thing. For a little perspective - You will be eating something for the rest of your life. The choice is do you eat something that will nourish your own body or eat empty calories that do nothing for nobody and make your body be sick and have to struggle through life? You got this. Pick yourself up and rejoice in life. Start a new hobby or make a new friend. Do something that you enjoy that doesnt involve copious amounts of food.
Having the sleeve is just another stepping stone. It will provide you with more skills and more control with food. It will be worthwhile.
Health is a long term goal. You wont see changes every single day but they will happen if you take care of the body that helps you get around in this world. The days turn into months and the months turn into years. If your are trying to heal your emotions with food you will fail every time. Decide. You really can do this.
A year on from having the bypass - I can go for walks. I sleep much better. I can buy clothes in a normal store. I am more confident and I now more active in community groups. I have made new friends. I can take care of myself and not need to rely on others. I feel so much better in my own skin.
You really do want to give yourself the gift of life. You got this.

I practice eating a couple prunes every day, I think it helps keep everything moving. But yes the couple weeks after surgery are tough, and really tough stool and Constipation, to be expected by all. But once you start eating solid foods again, it becomes normal once again. Still you have to think you are eating so much less than you used to. So if you want to stay on a regular schedule. I recommend prunes if you like eating them, and benefiber or something similar if you wanna add another supplement.

Inspectorjh84 got a reaction from summerseeker in How do I know when I'm full?? - 1 week post-op
I get that weird runny nose as well. Instead of how I used to feel like full deep in my stomach, now my full feeling is like at the top of my chest and sternum, like I can feel the food filling up my throat. I generally eat like 3 oz and just stop now before I get the full feeling because I don't like walking around too full.

I am sure you will see after talking to a bunch of us. That having a bariatric surgery is but only one part of your whole weight loss journey. You still have to exercise, eat right, and get plenty of rest. Just like most people here say...the surgery is just one tool in your weight loss goals.
For me over a 10 year period, I gained weight and lost it more than 4 times, and all the way down to like 200 lbs from 280. I never had trouble losing weight, its just that I could not maintain that weight loss long term, unless I was on a very strict diet.
I am hoping that the Gastric Sleeve I got will help me be able to maintain the weight of 185 lbs this time.
So I just don't agree with what some people say, that surgery is the easy way out. There is still a lot to losing weight and even going through the whole process of committing to the surgery and recovery. I think most of us were all crazy dieters before we decided on surgery...its just now we have another tool and we got some extra help we need.
