    ROBOTIC SLEEVE SURGERY

I actually looked for it when they wheeled me into the OR since I watched a couple YouTube videos and knew what it looked like. I saw the seat and controls way over in a corner out of the way of everything. WAAAAY away from where I assumed all the action was going to take place. Now every time I think about my surgery I just envision my big belly sticking up in the middle of the room and my Doctor sitting over there in the corner with VR goggles controlling robot arms.... 😄

    Any April Surgery Dates?

Had my sleeve surgery on April 18. Still feel hungry all the time too, but get full fast now when eating the soft foods. This threw me off at first because my fantasy before surgery was that I'd never feel hungry again, but what actually happened afterwards was the opposite! On my first week post op appointment I think my Dr. thought I was accusing him of giving me a bad sleeve.. HAHAHA! Today is the day I get to start having "regular" foods as tolerated. I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. Funny thing is, I don't even know where to start, so all I have in the house to eat is the stuff from my soft foods diet! 🙂 Hardest part for me is keeping track of my protein and fluid intake as I have a very busy work schedule and don't always log right away. I know this is a week point and I'm working on it. I lost 19 lbs pre op, and 27 lbs post op so far. Tomorrow is my one month post op follow up. Their scale usually adds a couple extra lbs than mine so I'll have more official numbers tomorrow. Good Luck Everyone! And thanks for posting, the topical conversations found on this site truly help some of us get thru!

3 Days Post Op - Just Documenting My Journey

I also have a similar story. 46 yrs old with heart issues (double bypass in 2018.) Before my surgery, just one month before yours, I was on two blood pressure meds. I stopped taking them the day before surgery and at my first week post op visit my blood pressure was already within normal range without the meds. I was in shock! Especially because my blood pressure was always high, even with the meds!! I have my one month post op visit coming up in 2 days, interested in seeing where I'm at. I also hit the ground running and was walking up to two miles a day after surgery and received the same warnings as you got above... haha! Once I slowed down to let my body heal, the weight started dropping off. 30 pounds down since surgery day. Good Luck! Lots of good advice on here, even though it felt like I was getting scolded sometimes! 🙂

    Length of liquid diet Post-op

I'm having a hard time too! My Sleeve surgery was on 04/18 so I just started week 3. According to my surgeons plan, I'm still on a full liquid diet. Next week, week 4, I can throw in scrambled eggs, low or non fat cottage cheese, 2% string cheese, low fat cheese slices, and add fruit to blended protein shakes. On week 5 I can add soft cooked vegetables, canned chicken or tuna - fork smashed, refried beans, bananas, and canned fruit - fork smashed. Week 6 I move to solid food as tolerated. Last week at my 1 week follow up I told my Dr that I was very surprised at how hungry I am all the time and that I'm able to get all the protein and liquids down with no problems. I think he kind of thought I was under the impression that I got a bad sleeve. Mostly because he said: "I don't want you to think you didn't get a good sleeve..." hahaha! I'm just trying not to compare myself to others. It's hard. I keep reading about how everyone is not hungry anymore and I get a bit jealous. Hahahaha! I'll survive.... but I can't wait for some scrambled eggs!

    Weight Loss Patterns?

I'm in the middle of week 2 post op, and I'm not losing anything! All liquid diet, getting all my protein in and only taking in around 400 calories a day. Also walking at least 2 miles or more a day. I pictured it going a lot differently especially when I read the weight loss average is 5 to 15 pounds a week in the beginning stages. I'm hoping that my body adjusts and I start seeing some progress soon. I like this subject and look forward to following the discussion.

    ROBOTIC SLEEVE SURGERY

I had Sleeve Surgery on 4/18 with the Robot. (The Doctor controls it with both hands and foot pedals.) Only 4 incisions across my belly. And same as Carol, only gas pain immediately after and I didn't need any of the pain meds. I walked so many laps all night long. Every time I woke up, I walked..... Totally helped with the gas pain. Now 8 days later feeling pretty good, just hungry all the time, which I thought I wouldn't be.....
  7. I had sleeve surgery in southern Indiana on 04/18 (7 Days ago.) I started walking as soon as I got to my overnight room because I had terrible gas pain when I came out of anesthesia. That helped a lot! I haven't had any unbearable pain since and I also haven't had to take any of the pain meds that were prescribed!

I guess right now I'm feeling a bit of anxiety about the full liquid diet.... Like, am I doing it right? I'm distributing the Protein Shakes throughout the day to get to 60 grams of Protein, and mid-day I eat an Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt with 15 grams of protein - this gets me to the 75 grams of protein mark. I sip one 28 ounce Gatorade Zero throughout the day and I'm trying to get as much Water down as I can. I'm walking about 2 miles a day.....

But..... I STILL FEEL HUNGRY ALL DAY LONG!!!

In my daydreams before the surgery, I thought I wouldn't feel hungry afterwards. Deep down, I know my body is still adjusting, but it's messing with my head a little bit... haha. With the intake above I'm already close to 400 calories a day, and as I understand it, we should try to stick around that marker. I'm not sure what else to add that would help me feel full that wouldn't make my calorie intake go up too high.

They say expectations are just resentments in waiting, so I'm gonna do my best to go with the flow... haha. Overall, I'm still VERY happy that I am able to do this. Just sharing what's on my mind is all.

From what I have been reading, it definitely takes the mind a little bit of time to catch up with the body!

      Congratulations to you though :)
