    March 23 buddies yet?

I just started using Carb Manager to track today. I'm liking it so far. And I finally did a workout tonight. I did strength training for legs/butt, only about 30 minutes. It kicked my butt, literally!! My legs are jello now. But I did something, and I feel good about that. Now to make it a habit! The energy thing drives me crazy. My labs came back great, except my iron saturation was high (total iron was normal). Not sure what that means. My follow-up appt isn't until July 5th, so I guess I'll find out then. Congrats on the almost 50 lbs! That's awesome!

    March 23 buddies yet?

Hey March buddies! Just checking in on everyone again! How's it going?! As for me, I'll start with the stats. 5'2", sleeved 3/24/23. I was 212 lbs. before pre-op diet, 199.7 lbs on surgery day. I'm now 3 months out and weighing 168.2 lbs for a total of 42.8 lbs lost (from 212). Been stuck here for a week or so. Things are definitely slowing down. Lost about 6.8 lbs this past month. BUT, I still haven't been exercising, like AT ALL. Not even walking. And I feel it. My energy is very low. I've got to get back to (at least) walking soon. I'd like to throw in some strength training too, as I feel like a weakling these days. I haven't been tracking my food. I just kinda mentally keep track of my protein and have a 32 oz. cup that I make sure I drink at least 2 of. I'm just starting to track my food and macros again. I don't feel restriction and have no issues with any foods. I even had some soda (just once) and it didn't bother me. I've had a glass of wine too and that was fine also. Anywho, hope you all are doing great!
  3. I want to start by saying I know that "everyone is different," and "it's not a race, it's a journey", but I sometimes have a hard time relating because I had VSG at 199 lbs (I'm 5'2") and the weight loss just seems so much slower than most of what I see online. I'm 6 wks post-op and down 21 lbs since surgery and 33.5 lbs including pre-op diet. I've seen the charts saying how much I can expect to lose in what time-frames, but I would love to hear from others with similar starting stats. I get discouraged pretty easily and need some inspiration or similar stories. How long did it take to reach your goal? How much had you lost at about 6 wks (or 1-2 months?) When did you see the biggest loss? Thanks!! Sent from my SM-S918U using BariatricPal mobile app

Looking for "shorties" that started around 200 lbs

Ah, this is probably the difference. I'm on real foods and have been since week 5. I'm low carb, but I am on a regular diet. And yeah, I've got 20 years on ya, lol.

Wow wow wow!! I'm insanely jealous! Did you have VSG or bypass? Please share what you're doing!

Thank you! This gives me so much hope. I feel like it's been a struggle to even get this far. What did your exercise look like in those first 6 months? Sent from my SM-S918U using BariatricPal mobile app

That's great! Do you remember how much you'd lost closer to 2 months?

    March 23 buddies yet?

Just wanted to check in on all the March 2023 peeps and see how it's going! As for me, I was sleeved on 3/24/23. Lost 12.3 lbs before surgery and have lost 21.3 lbs since surgery, for a total of 33.6 lbs at 6 wks post-op. This feels slow to me, and I often wonder if I'm doing something wrong. I had the dreaded 3 week stall and then a big "woosh" of several pounds in a week. I tolerate every food I try and get my 64 oz in which is great, but I don't feel much restriction anymore, and I definitely get hungry before 3 hrs. I try to get at least 15 grams of protein every 3 hours, but I'm still hungry. 😩 I also probably need to get back to walking. I'm one of those that is very reliant on the scale even though I definitely know how exercise works and how muscle weighs more but also burns more fat. My energy has been LOW, and as soon as I took a break from walking my 2.5 miles a day to try and rest a bit, I had the big movement on the scale. So, I haven't started back up for that reason. I'm just not the type of person that can withstand the scale stalls and comfort myself with "muscle weighs more." Pitiful, I know. I'm so dang impatient. Once I make a decision, I want it now! (I know it doesn't work that way, but 🤷🏼‍♀️ I can't help it!). How's it going for everyone else?

    March 23 buddies yet?

I found this image and it has given me so much comfort. I've also been doing a lot of Googling bc my surgery center hasn't given much guidance around anything other than protein and liquid goals. From what I've read, at this time post-op I should be getting around 500 cals per day, and eating 1/4 c. to 1/2 c. at each sitting (every 3-4 hrs). For reference, I was sleeved on 3/24/23. I look at multiple sites of reputable surgery centers before I decide what to "believe". Hang in there friends! We got this!

    March 23 buddies yet?

I have wondered the same thing. I didn't expect 20 lb losses every month like I see with some people, but I still expected the scale to move, albeit more slowly!

    March 23 buddies yet?

I hear you. My surgery was 3/24. I was 199.7 lbs on surgery day. 2 weeks after, I was 188.9. That was my lowest. I've been at 190.3 for the past week, and it hasn't budged AT ALL. I've had no issues with getting my minimum 80g protein and 64 oz. water. I've been diligent about eating only every 3-4 hrs as instructed. My calories have never gone over 550 and I walk at about 2.5 mph for anywhere from 30 min - 1 hour 5 days a week. Taking multivitamin with iron, B-12, calcium, and stool softener daily. I want to stay off the scale, but in my head, I'm like how long will this last?!?! Does the 3 week stall typically happen around week 3 or does it typically last for 3 weeks? Just ready to see progress again. I wish I had answers for you, but you aren't alone! Hang in there!

    March 23 buddies yet?

Thank you! After doing a bit of digging through the forums, I see the typical "3 week stall" all over the place. I'll just keep on keeping on and look forward to the results! Thanks again for the reassurance and encouragement! Sent from my SM-S918U using BariatricPal mobile app

    March 23 buddies yet?

When you guys are talking about how much weight you've lost, are you including what was lost during the pre-op diet as well, or just strictly what you've lost since surgery day? I've been a bit disappointed. I lost 10 before surgery, and 11 after surgery (3/24/23), which I was very pleased with. Week 1 I was still on clear liquids, and this week on full liquids, I actually ended up the exact same weight as last week. Just seems really early to be stalling. I'm trusting the process and sticking to the plan, but man it's discouraging.

    Omg my surgery is tomorrow

Same for me! I was prepared for the worst, but hoping for the best...and I couldn't have asked for a better experience considering it is surgery! Sent from my SM-S918U using BariatricPal mobile app

Sleeve Surgery Date is 22 March

I had my surgery yesterday morning (3/24/23). I have to say I've had a surprisingly smooth experience. Only very, very few and very mild gas pains and mild abdominal soreness. An abdominal binder was a life-saver for me. At first, I felt like I couldn't relax...I kept tightening my stomach. It was really "pain" but tension if that makes any sense. Then I put on a tank top with the abdominal binder over it, and the pain instantly dropped to like a 2. I've had it on ever since. I got home around 4:30pm, CT and managed to get in 28 oz of fluids before bed. I really couldn't have asked for a better outcome. I can only hope and pray things continue on this same path. How were all you guys' surgeries that happened over this past week or so?

Sleeve Surgery Date is 22 March

I am self-pay too. Surgery here in Texas with My Bariatric Solutions on 3/24. I started liquid diet today...I'm so jealous of other plans that allow for food pre-op! I can't even have yogurt or pudding. Good luck to you! Sent from my SM-S918U using BariatricPal mobile app

Started full liquid diet today and surgery is next Friday (3/24). Trying to distract myself because I'm hungry already! 😫

    Post op liquid diet

Mine said the same thing. No "milky protein drinks" until "full liquid diet" stage.
