    Medication for goute

My surgeon says after 6 months if I need to take an NSAID I should take it with a proton pump prohibitor to be on the safe side and limit to 3-5 days at any time but he was less concerned by casual use than anything I’ve ever seen online!! Surgeon will guide you (like others, my advice is based on my surgeon, I’d never tell anyone what to do )

Size of what you put in your mouth to chew?

Thanks @toddlerrue and @arabesque - do you still take same mouthfuls you did during the first few months etc?
  3. I’m new about a month in and I was wondering what size bite you take? (I’m not talking serving size) I read somewhere it should be the size of a black bean? Which seems small but does it build up? What happened with you guys? Talking RNY bypass :)

Have you had the surgery yet? How did you go?

    Multivitamin help

I use an Australian made one called BNChews - tastes rather pleasant thankfully. My nutritionist recommended it, not sure if they deliver outside Aus.

Bari things that give you the ick

I have found that there is way too much differing advice and information online and that irks me more than anything else I’ve experienced so far since my RNY!
  7. Had my bypass three weeks ago (presume you’re having bypass too) just prepare yourself for the mental roller coaster and remember why you’re doing it. (Most) people don’t feel much or any real pain, just some discomfort. I struggled mentally but am working through the mental aspect of it all. Best of luck, private message if you like anytime.

how did surgery save you money?

I had to stop smoking (which in Australia is the most expensive in the world - $58 a packet, huge taxes to deter smokers) but I used to love it lol and omg I have saved a lot on sneaky Uber eats deliveries already 😂
  9. I can walk, upping it daily, and do some minor exercises like my arms up to week 10. From week 10 free to explore what I want to do. I will follow this but I’m keen to see how different it was for everyone. When were you cleared?

Am I the only miserable one?

I’m nearly three weeks and have been on an emotional roller coaster but I’m already getting better through talking honestly with my surgeon, asking questions of him, reminding myself of my why and just accepting it’s done! Get on with it haha I will be seeing a therapist though but after 10 days of tears I had enough of myself. One thing I don’t do now is google or check historical threads. I’m keen to live for now and the future, what will be will be.

    Outpatient Gastric Bypass

I would ask if they do the barium swallow test the next day and where do you have to go for it? I had my surgery two weeks ago and the standard in Australia is min. Two nights stay so the idea of outpatient is weird to me but your surgeon and hospital would be professionals! :)
  12. My two week anniversary today (lost 10.4 kilos since my bypass, 22.93 pounds) and generally had good progression over the time. I’m shocked by how little I need to eat so far in purée section but presume this increases over time. Biggest shock is how easily I cry over emotional or sad things. Cried seeing someone who I thought might be homeless yesterday. Not that I was emotionless before but gee, this has been a ride lol I have had moments of regret and realisation of what I paid to have done to me. I doubt these will Continue past a point but my mind has been my biggest enemy, the rest, so far, has been good.

How fast can you eventually eat?

Thanks so much for sharing this! Sounds very workable and gives me hope for the evolution :) we will shall see what it brings me

    Sleeve revision to bypass 2/6.

No advice as I went straight to bypass! But best wishes with your surgery, you’ll do well, you know what is coming and how to deal with it.

    Bruising and dizziness/hot flashes

Sorry to hear that but raise with your surgeon for sure. My only bruising was on my arm from The blood pressure artery thing they do and the anaesthesia, I look like a life long heroin addict there lol it’s finally fading
