Does Eating really get easier?
It has gotten easier for me at 7 weeks out. Just make sure you're listening to your stomach.

I sent you a message.

Craving sushi
Totally a thing.

WAY TO GO! That's awesome! Congrats on your win.

Protein bars on soft foods
That's a good idea. I was wanting something I can throw in my bag for emergencies or a super busy day that is shelf stable. Looks like I may have some research to do.
-
Protein bars on soft foods
I'll be on regular food next Friday, the 16th. I feel I'm way past just liquids, pudding and yogurt.
-
Vitamin Intake
I agree, chewable, liquid, or dissolving vitamins would be a better option for a few months. My program requires it for the first 6 weeks. I found all mine on Amazon.
-
Craving sushi
That's why you don't buy it at a gas station.. Lol. While that's gross to think about, I love sushi and have never had any issues.

How long from first doctor visit to surgery?
It varies so much between program requirements and insurance requirements; as you can see from the comments. Mine was 3 months.

Protein bars on soft foods
What protein bars are good AND ok for soft food stage? There are days that I'm so busy and not home to eat. Like today. I forgot a protein shake and ended up getting chili from Wendy's for lunch. I would like more options that aren't fast food. Thanks!

Going "camping"
I can't have any of that yet. I'm going to make my own "lunchables" for lunches and snacks.
-
Daily headaches
Oh, joy. I know it's a good and necessary part of the process. Thanks for the information.
-
Liquid Multivitamin Recommendations
I never did liquid, however, I didn't mind the dissolving vitamins and supplements. The brand is barimelts.

Craving sushi
That sounds good. I may have to try that.

Daily headaches
I've been low carb since my pre-op diet which started 7 weeks ago and it just now is effecting me?! That's kinda crazy. I average about 17 carbs a day. I can usually get a good amount of relief from Tylenol. If it is a carb issue or ketosis, will the headaches eventually go away? How about the other unpleasant side effects of ketosis?
-
Daily headaches
I've been having daily headaches. I meet my protein and fluid goals every day. Could it be that I need more calories? I average about 430 calories a day. I'm in week 5/soft foods.

Help!!!! POST OP
It's not the end of the world. Just make sure you stick to your plan moving forward. I know it can be hard to push through cravings or years of eating a certain way. For me, I have to be mindful about everything that I eat. During the first year, we are setting ourselves up for what the rest of our lives will look like in terms of diet and exercise. It's important to instill in ourselves these principles and make those our new normal. With that said, please give yourself some grace. We all mess up sometimes.

Craving sushi
How long after surgery did you wait to have sushi (minus the rice). The head hunger is real.

Lost all motivation
I was thinking the same thing about going to the pastor for counseling. However, you also said you're very involved in your church, and I know from experience that it can be hard to admit there is something going on. So perhaps, maybe there is another church that you could seek counseling from if y'all are not wanting to share with your own house. Just a thought. Also, Focus on the Family has great resources for counseling, advice and articles. I know your head is still reeling from this. And I think you are very wise to wait until emotions calm down to talk. Many prayer for you all.

May 2023 surgeries
My instructions says to thin the oatmeal out with milk. I can also have thinned cream of wheat. It crazy how different each program is.

May 2023 surgeries
I would say if it's soft, easy to chew, and moist the turkey sausage is totally fine. However, each program may have different criteria of what is considered "soft food". Congrats on your loss so far, that's great! I'm by no means an expert on stalls. I just keep reading, stick to the program. It'll break soon enough.

I can put away a whole egg too. Depending on what it is I can eat about 2-4oz. I'm about 5 weeks as well.. As far as breakfast. What about turkey sausage, oatmeal with protein powder, or yogurt. I'm still mostly drinking my breakfast.

I found tuna has a lot of protein. You can add unflavored protein to anything liquid or pureed. If you are set on foods for protein, set a timer and not wait until you're hungry.
