Pouchify got a reaction from learn2cook in Loss of restriction from VSG to bypass
I just had a revision from Lapband to RYN on January 10th. My surgeon told me I wouldn’t get restriction from the revision. I have to really focus on weighing and measuring my food intake so I don’t gain weight. He said people who had restrictions from their previous surgery do not feel the restriction. I measure my food and I can only tell when the food hits my intestines and I feel full there in my lower belly.

Hi Lindsey, I have lupus and fibromyalgia. I just did a revision from Lapband to gastric bypass a few weeks ago. I actually am doing a lot better with my pain control. I take 50mg of amitriptyline at bedtime for it. I actually get more sleep now since I did the revision and it helps my symptoms.

Hey, I have had a rxy bypass 2 weeks ago and I was on liquids for one week and puree now. I have felt no restriction even with Water I am gulping a glass down easily and having puree very easy with no pain or restriction.
I have tried eggs and a few other little things because I freaked out with no restriction. Can I have people please help with their own story about this… does the restriction comeback?? Has anyone spoken to their surgeon as to why they lost it??? Any information and support would be appreciated I have been really low and upset about this worrying I’ll never feel full again

You need to do as your pcp says and eat. First find things to drink, you sound as if you are dehydrated. Water and milk and thinned Protein drinks are safe starting options. Have you tried protein water? Have you tried broth? Find the temperature you can tolerate. I managed Hot Drinks better than icy cold.
You need to eat and the calorie content will not matter for a couple of weeks. Once you get some calories in you will start to feel better. To start you eating again, can I suggest yogurts, high protein tinned or homemade Soups [blitz it if you need to] mashed potato and gravy, Custard, instant porridge. and soft baked crustless quiche or cheese souffle. Aim to eat [ or drink your food ] a good amount of foods every 2 or 3 hours. Eat whatever you can, its critical to you getting and feeling better
Lack of protein will make you weak. Lack of liquid makes your throat slimy. You feel nausea because you may not be drinking enough. Getting hot or in my case shivery cold is because we have overeaten. Getting the foamies [spitting out foam] is because you have put too much in your new stomach in one go. Eat or drink smaller sips until you get a hang of your limits.
Lastly, have you been tested for a stricture? because I had similar problems until about 10 months out because they found my internal stitch line was still swollen. I just had to do the best I could until it settled. You should be getting more help from your team than you are, when did you last speak to them?

I just had a revision from a slipped Lapband to gastric bypass Rny. I also had a hernia the size of an orange. My doctor told me that I will not feel restriction at all. I just started my puréed stage and I’m definitely not feeling anything. I’m just measuring my portions and sticking to that. Then after 30 mins of eating I will start my liquids again. It seems to be helping. At least we do get some malabsorption with the small intestines redirected.

My date is January 10th! Less than 6 weeks away! Who else is going to be starting their new life in January?
