  3. Congrats to the new Junebies!! Welcome to the thread. I know there are more of you lurking. Please come on in and say hello. We promise not to bite (well, maybe a little nibble :hungry: since some are hungry doing the pre-op diet:faint: ). Melissa Lea:hippie: Spivak self-pay June 9, 2006
  4. Calm down Jude! You probably are not retaining Fluid but you might finally be well hydrated. That means your up a few pounds to where you normally should have been with hydration. Besides, you shouldn't weight yourself everyday. Men/women do fluctuate weight +/- several pounds within a day (dependent of fluid, food, etc.). You will do great post-op. That's my story and I'm sticking to it Melissa Lea:hippie:
  5. Congrats on your date lasonyadj! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Melissa Lea:hippie: Spivak June 9, 2006 self-pay
  6. I feel your paincutieRN. I think since my pre-op visit I have staid within my normal +/- 5 pounds. My goal has been not to gain. I think I need to zip my mouth :zip: :zip: so I quit eating all this junk:pop2: . Need to continue fighting with myself :fencing:and know that I am experiencing head hunger/cravings. I did the unthinkable ......I moved the bathroom scale :funscale:to the kitchen. So everytime I think I'm hungry:hungry: :hungry: :hungry: I jump on my scale to remind myself how hungry I am not . :hail:Hale (or is it hail) to jude and cidny for doing such a great job. keep up the excellent pre-op work. As for me and cutie ---we can do this, we can do this :cheer2: Melissa Lea:hippie: Spivak June 9, 2006 Self-pay
  7. Well, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one struggling :faint: . Not that I want anyone else to struggle, but it's nice to know that I'm not in this alone :clap2: . As for these cravings :hungry: of foods I haven't eaten in years --go figure  . I mean, if i'm gong to crave something, let it be something I love like cheesecake. I certaininly wouldn't ask for Funions for a "last" meal :phanvan . Thanks for the support Hugs to all  Melissa Lea
  8. Hi Junebies ---- Thus far, the majority of you are just 10 days away from the big date :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: My question is, how are your pre-op diets???? I think I'm starting to get that "last meal" syndrome. I have been craving and eating foods I haven't eaten in YEARS, and I DO mean years:hungry: :hungry:. Example, this past weekend, I had to eat Funions or I thought I was gonna die. For startes, I don't even like Funions but had to go back for more (they are too salty for me :tired :tired :tired ). :angry :angry :angry :angry UUGGGHHH!!!!! :angry :angry :angry :angry How is everyone else feeling about the pre-op diet, how are you doing? Melissa Lea:o  Spivak June 9, 2006 self-pay
  9. I'll be banded on June 9th and I know exactly how you feel. I know that most everyone on LBT have lost 100 lbs or more during our life time. I've been overweight 100% of my adult life and about 90% of my childhood. Before I commited to having the lap band I went through all the should of, could of, and what if I's in the book. I think it's a normal progression to admit defeat in your weight/obesity struggle. I even broke down in tears discussing my obesity struggle with the surgeon. I know that the band is not a miracle fix but rather a great tool for success. I have my dearest of all best friends of 26+ years that also needs the lap band. As I've been going through my pre-bandster journey to surgery date, she has been doing all the the diets and the "let me try this one last time" for me. I sense her lurking in the background wondering if it will be a good tool for her. I feel that after I have my procedure and she see's my results, she will too commit to a healther life (with the procedure she feels best suites her). Best wishes Melissa Lea
  10. Congrats on your dates Amus and Sisi -- Keep us up to date. It does appear that the majority thus far will be having surgery on June 2, 2006. I know there are many more Junebies lurking and wathching the board (I use to be one of you ). Don't be shy, come on in and say hello Melissa Lea :hippie:

  16. Congrats SalemKitty -- I can't imagine having to wait that long for the surgery. You know the old saying, "better things come to those who wait." Congrats!!
  17. 18. Hi CutieRN -- You will have to let me know how it goes for you --especially since you are having your procedure just 4 days before me :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: . I will add your email to my contacts. Thanks. I just love meeting all of you, thanks in advance for the support. Best Wishes Melissa Lea :hippie: Spivak June 6 240/180/120
  19. Hello Everyone! So glad to meet other Junebies going through the same journey. Most of your dates are just about 2 weeks away :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I'm game for the email buddy list ....I think that's a great idea. You can email me (bandsterrd@yahoo.com) Melissa Lea :hippie:
  20. Hello Junbies ...... I haven't seen a June Band Crew thread yet so thought I would start it . I'll be banded on June 9th in Texas. I'm getting very excited about it. I know that the band is just a "tool" to aid in my weight loss journey and it will take a lot of hard work on my part to make it successful. I've been overweight my whole life with the earliest memories being around age 4. Although no one else in my family is overweight, I am extremely fortunate to have full family support in my decision. I know that there are many people who's family doesn't offer the support they need. I would love to meet other pre-bandsters being banded in June to walk with me to the banded side of life and offer each other support. I wish you all the best. 21. The doctors may need to code it different, instead of RYN procedure, code under parital gastrectomy. If they happen to re-route a few other things while they are in there ....so be it. They should be able to recoupe most the cost.
  22. Do the Imitrex Nasal Spray. It doesn't give me the side effect like the tablet but still seems to do the job. The only bad thing about it .....REALLY BAD TASTE in throat a few minutes after taking it. It doesn't last long though. Melissa Lea
  23. I'll be banded on June 9th. I'm very excited and wished I could have set an earlier date, but had work commitments that needed taken care of. I'm planning just to take 4 days off post off, plus surgery day. I'm hoping that will be plenty of time. Melissa Lea
  24. What a great topic! I am due to be banded June 9th, and also self pay. When I first started researching the lap band procedure I felt a lot of guilt. All of the "what if diets" went through my thoughts as well. The hardest part for me was telling my family of my decision. After several heartfelt discussions with my family, mostly to answer questions about the procedure and not my decision, I have the full support of my family and that has helped the guilt go away :clap2: . Now I know my history --I always get post purchase remorse after buying large/expensive items. I am expecting this to be no different :think , but I know with my family support and ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT --I will be just fine. Melissa Lea:hippie:
  25. Hello Heather, My philosophy is the old saying, "If you can dream it, you can achieve it." Remember, it is your personal goal and no one elses. If you want to be a size 8 then be a size 8. The number on the scale doesn't matter so much. You can be 150 pounds over lean muscle from working out, and be a size 8. Or you can be 120 pounds and size 8. Hope that makes sense. Melissa Lea :hippie: Pre-bandster Spivak (6/9/06) self-pay
