    August surgery buddies!

Oh my goodness! I miss reading this forum so much! I've been trying to really focus on myself to heal. A week after surgery around September 6th, I had this horrrrrrrible pain out of no where at 10AM. It was the front and back of my right side. My boyfriend rushed me to the ER, and it was packed!!! I was screaming in pain and throwing up absolutely nothing. All the rooms were occupied and I was #3 to be triaged. I begged my fiance to lay down on the floor in the waiting room of the ER. As soon as I laid down they brought me to a different room to treat me, Well guys I had a kidney stone! It was THE WORSE PAIN in my entire life. I had my eyes close from the pain the whole time. TMI - Please be aware!!! Ever since surgery I was only constipated one day. Ever since then I've been having very very oily orange stool. Straight up like grease. When I had my sleeve in 2018 I was constipated every month. I can't even pass gas normally because it will leak out. My nurse and dietitian said I am not storing my fat nutrients. I'm excreting it way too fast which is not normal, I have to go in and possibly be prescribed a fat enzyme. Every time I eat I have to go super bad within 30 minutes. If i don't get it resolved i can develop IBS. I am soooo scared at this point, Also is anyone prescribed Ursodiol to prevent gallstone problems?

    September surgery buddies!!

Hey September buddies! You guys will do great! I got a Sleeve to Bypass conversion on August 29th. I was super stressed out about the 2 week liquid diet but it went by super fast after the 4th day. The 4th day was the worse hunger pain.
  3. Hey loves :1007_hearts:

I had my sleeve conversion to a bypass on August 29th and that week went by super fast! I was focusing on liquids as well as getting the house in order. We have my aunts wedding coming up so we've been busy planning that as well.

The day before my surgery we had a big sweet sixteen birthday for my cousin and the food that was served was a devil! I passed it like it was nothing. Big thanks to my fiance for sticking with me on the liquid diet.

OK so day of surgery my check in time was 9:30 AM. I got called in to do all the pre-work and then wheeled to the OR at 11:30 AM. When I tell you Mayo is the best place for medical care, it is THE BEST! I was in surgery for 4 hours and stayed in the recovery room for 2 hours. I was soooo worried about my fiance but thanks to the tracking of each patient he was able to track me. It took forever for them to find me a room, which was around 7:00 PM. They actually put me on the respiratory floor. My pain was horrible!! My belly area hurt so bad! It took awhile for the nurses to  accommodate to what I needed because they weren't use to bariatric patients on their floor. The nurse I had was sooooo sweet. I will never forget her! She asked if I can stay another night LOL. My fiance actually couldn't stay the night with me....so he stayed with me for maybe an hour and half and drove off to care for our 3 dogs. I slept maybe until midnight and started to get uncomfortable. That is when I started to walk around the hall. I still had the catheter and the IV hooked up. Got maybe 3 heparin shots. My gas pains were horrible the whole night..I was scared to push anything out.  My fiance arrived around 8 AM and I had my first diluted juice. My surgeon came to visit and said everything was perfect and I was such a perfect candidate for my situation. He is very excited to see the future of my bypass LOL.

I was able to drink 1/2 a liter and was finally discharged around 2:30 PM. The drive home was long because we had to stop at the pharmacy for my pain meds. It was about an hour and 20 minute drive.

Here I am today 5 day post-op, was able to walk around the store but did get some belly pains. Had some miso soup which was delicious.

    August surgery buddies!

OMG! that sounds horrible!!! Hopefully you're feeling better. I told the OR nurses to give me the patch behind my ear for nausea. My stomach is also swollen!! and I finally took my band-aids off my incisions today. I have two big bruises from Heparin shot and a weird bruise on the left of my thigh.

    August surgery buddies!

I haven't had the time to check anything since surgery day. Everything happened so fast! I was to report for check in at 9:30 and was wheeled to the OR at 11:30. I was in recovery for 2 hours waiting for a room. The gas pains were soooooo bad! It finally went away this afternoon after passing gas...lol My liquid diet phase 1 is 64 ounces of regular Gatorade or 50/50 diluted juice and then after is broth, jello, popsicles. That will be my diet for 7 days.

I haven't had surgery yet but my post-op diet reads no protein drinks until the 8th day.

Hey buddies! Because it is Midnight, today is my 4th day pre-op of the shrinking liver diet. Let me tell you, I was very very hungry today while running errands and came home and sipped on homemade chicken broth my mom brewed for me. I added a drop of Sriracha and a dash of black pepper and it was soooooo good. Taste like ramen!
  8. My 3 babies and my little "niece". Took on a babysitting job this past weekend. She is super tiny compared to my 3 biggies. Sitting on command for treat-os!

    Pre-op Liquid - Day 2

It was very hard today...I'm feeling some type of way from not eating the meals I was supposed to before the pre-op diet. My sister got stuck in Dallas a week before my diet and we were supposed to go on a nice dinner, but that never happened. I have super bad dry mouth and bathroom breaks are more frequent.

    August surgery buddies!

The gastric sleeve, I remember the phases for that was short and the post-op education fell short. So happy I switched surgeons/hospital.

It is different because of the types of surgery and because I am getting mine done at Mayo most of it comes from research. I know I almost cried reading that "soft food stage/phase 3" is 6 weeks! I am getting a revision done..maybe longer recovery?

I have a wedding two weeks after my surgery! Hopefully I can bring my own blended soup of some sort. LOL
  15. Pre-op Liquid Diet - Day 1

Had my morning cup of 8 oz Regular Orange Juice. I am ready!!! I did have 3 bites of my fiance's cheesecake last night for dinner. It was so yummy but with my former sleeve it didn't allow me any more bites.
