high wbc in preop labs
hematologist was 6-7 years ago but my main dr knows all about it… normal wbc is 7-10… i usually run 13-17… yesterday was 20, so double normal limit… so-far i haven’t gotten a call about it, so maybe not a problem (wishful thinking)… just don’t want anything to derail things at this point !! (side note: my a1c dropped from 6.2 to 6.1! was hoping for more but i will take any reduction)

pre op appointment
just wanted to share my pre op appointment experience! i got to the appointment. they weighed me and had to sign a lot of paperwork. they went over again my pre op diet and post op diet. they went over the medication i was going to take prior to surgery and what pain med i would be discharged with. I found out that he is having me stay one night in the hospital ( outpatient was a possibility) The surgeon came in and I asked a couple questions which he answered. then i was sent to another part of the hospital to do pre op registration, blood work and an ekg. was a busy afternoon! my appointment was at 220 and i walked out of the hospital around 5 pm.

high wbc in preop labs
i had preop blood work yesterday and saw the results in my electronic chart yesterday evening (before dr lol). i normally have an elevated wbc (been checked out twice by hematologist - it’s just how i am) but it was elevated a bit from my normal range… i had the flu in early october and wonder if that could be messing with me still… i am waiting to hear from dr to see if that matters to them… it’s so high from normal i expect a call, but it’s just slightly higher for me naturally did you have a pre op issue with wbc? how was it handled ?

people treating you different
did you notice people treating you different after loosing weight ? good, bad, crazy?? family? coworkers? acquaintances? i have lost 100 lbs but just kinda proportionally shrunk a little, not huge transformation yet. (skin is starting to be a little jiggly instead of tight on my fat and a slight reduction to my many chins) so haven’t experienced a big difference, yet! what have you experienced?

Has your relationship changed?
i am pre op and if you had asked me two months ago, i would have told you that there was only a little chance my relationship would survive post op… but my husband finally is making some changes to himself to “come along” on my journey (mostly in how we interact to honor the changes I have made) .. and now i have hope I won’t be single sometime next year! i guess relationships and weight loss have one big thing in common; it takes a lot of hard work that can often emotionally hurt to get through to the good

Low BMI obesity gastric sleeve option
first of all, surgery isn’t easy. it’s permanently changes your life; what you can eat, how you can eat.. and it’s not always in ways that you would choose. you have to modify your eating habits if you have surgery for the rest of your life if you want to have any success. it sounds like you may need that more than surgery. 31 is not a high bmi, so fine tuning what you do eat and finding a healthier moderation may be just the ticket. work with a nutritionalist. even if you wanted surgery, you need to do it anyway. you might find that after modifying your diet you won’t need surgery and can be healthier!

Celebrating 100 Pre-Op!
Greetings, Going to celebrate out loud today! I have lost 100 lbs from my July 2021 highest recorded weight and all in PRE op!!! 85.8 Lbs in 2022! Damn, this has been hard. A lot of emotional and behavioral change went into this effort. A lot of re-education about nutrition and choices. A lot of forgiving myself for getting to this weight. A lot of healing. A lot of journaling. A lot of reminding myself that I am worth taking care of. It also has been easier than I thought. Once I gained the confidence that I could, I did. Yes, I have had doctor support and taking Ryselbus helped, but mostly this is me making true and long lasting change. I am comforted by the fact that if for some reason I could not have the sleeve surgery on November 3rd, 2022, I would still loose weight and feel better and my LIFE would be better. Everyone has this in them. Its a tough road, but we can all achieve better in our lives.

No one talks about. To much weightloss
Have you talked to your nutritionist and had your gp run tests to make sure something medical isn’t going on?

Calorie shock
it’s amazing the stuff that we used to eat is a lot more calorie dense then after changing dietary habits; especially portion size for me so far!

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
here is one.. I adjusted the drivers seat in a car! I pulled a work vehicle seat closer to the steering wheel (yay!!) but even more amazing I was sitting in the seat and could actually reach down and adjust without getting out of the car or straining !! as little as four months ago there is no way i could have done that. My body’s bulk prevented that sort of movement.

Regained it all
be proud that you know you need to act and are reaching out! life is hard and we all need to start again sometimes. how long ago was your surgery? what eating style made you successful in loosing weight last time ? what do you think your biggest issue is that is causing weight gain ?
-
Carbs yes or no
Exactly! balance is the key to long term success!! after the healing diet post op, i will have nothing will be off limits to me as my choice; but like you said some food are cautious with portions in small amounts and some are just occasional indulgence not everyday fare. I think that’s how i will be able to maintain a healthier life long term.

Easiest Change?
On your current weight loss journey, what was the easiest change for you or was much easier than you thought ? so far for me it has been not consuming a lot of sugary stuff. I used to crave it all the time and thought I always would, but since I reduced it down and mostly cut it out I do not have constant cravings anymore. Occasionally I get a little twinge but something small and sweet but not sugary will often satisfy. what about you?
