  1. Ok, going to let my vanity hang out for a moment lol One of the things I look forward to after surgery after being a very fat person most of my life is having people do a double take or not recognize me lol Due to the nature of my job, there are many people I see once a year or a every few years and talk on the phone on and off. I semi secretly can’t wait until I have lost enough for them to have to look twice to know it’s me … tucking my vanity back in for now…
  2. one more day!!!!! scared out of my wits but as ready as i am going to be!
  3. FYI - the fruity pebble protein powder is absolutely fantastic to me makes me feel like i had naughty cereal for breakfast instead of being on my liquid diet this week!! one more day of liquids to go before Thursday surgery!! Wednesday night I have a special bottle of pre surgery Ensure to drink along with two tylenol to prepare. Then Thursday morning I have to take an anti nausea med on the way to the hospital….. so nervous!
  4. big hugs hope you feel better super soon!! do you eat yogurt?? gut bacteria can get messed up with sickness and it will help replenish the bacteria needed for digestion.
  5. My surgeon told me the 25th of Oct that he uses titanium staples that are fine for MRI… I had to schedule a spinal MRI for after surgery (separate issue from surgery) and they won’t see me until 1 month post op to do an MRI so it’s scheduled for the beginning of December… so surgery may delay an MRI post op but won’t eliminate it.
  6. thanks!! more importantly to me I have faith that if I can pull myself from suicidal despair and super unhealthy life, others can too. I want to be there for those who feel they have nothing and no hope and feel as alone as I did. life sucks sometimes but there is room for better on so many levels.
  7. At the end of last year, my life was over eating and especially lots of sugar. I binged on little debbie cakes, guzzled icees, had many high calorie starbucks drinks and a lot of fast food. I ate and drank so unhealthy that it really was a slow suicide. It was killing me and frankly I did not care, but rather welcomed it. After several things snowballing, the first of 2022 I started to take control. I made a choice to live. I struggled to work out the pain of the past and even current circumstances which lead me to cover the pain in food, especially sugar and non nutrient dense carbs. The pain that brought me well over 400 lbs and climbing. I journaled and cried and started to stand up for myself. I also did take Ryselbus which helped give me a leg up to do the work. My husband took it but the effects wore off some because he didn’t change. I knew i needed to change if I wanted to live. Over a few months, I did the very hard mental work. I broke addictions to fast food and the sugar. Going through the process sucked. Slowly, I repeated over and over again I was worth forgiving to getting into this unhealthy state. I could heal and forge a new way. I didn’t need sugar or binging on pizza to make me feel better, I could finally start to find empathy and forgiveness for myself. Now I am two days from life changing bariatric surgery in a good place. I am ready for the huge changes this surgery brings. No longer do I binge on sugar, bread, processed food. I don’t even want to binge 90% of the time and I have self soothed myself with forgiveness and understanding the other 10%. I have changed my eating patterns, my portions, my outlook. Sugar isn’t forbidden forever, but it will now be a treat, a sometimes indulgence. It feels amazing to be able to make that choice instead of being ruled by cravings. I feel lighter from not having to carry as much of the huge burden of self loathing and self hate I used to carry. I am worth forgiving myself. I guess really why I am writing this is I know the struggle is so real. each one of you has your own issues and challenges. Each one of you is worthy of self forgiveness and embracing good things in your life. shed the tears, embrace your flaws and find a way to accept yourself and move forward in a way you want. Even if you struggle, It is worth it.
  8. thanks everyone the person claimed she was tripping out on cold meds and wasn’t prepared for it lol
  9. I just read on another forum about how someone had a very strong reaction to cold medication post op. was a brand she used before and it had a very different effect. Anyone else have this experience?
  10. i will be honest, i take a diuretic sometimes to help things along… but it works and usually have a new number not just temporary
  11. my surgery is Nov 3rd and they did my preop labs on Oct 25th
  12. my body does that too!! i will stall for days/weeks then all of a sudden i will have a drop of 5-15 lbs over a couple of days (the 15 lb drop was fantastic lol) …. i also (tmi) notice that i go pee a lot more for a day or so before a stall ends
  13. You will break through!! you have worked so hard, your body will catch up. Maybe you ou will have a big drop in the coming days and feel the satisfaction
  14. Mourning the way things were is a great analogy. It is very accurate because you are leaving behind life long patterns that were unhealthy and teaching yourself a whole new way of being. It has helped me to remind myself that even though change is really hard, I am making these changes to say yes to so many things and to actually be able to live life instead of existing. Like mourning any loss, it gets better with time and adapting to the new normal. Find little things to look forward to. Be adventurous in trying new things in your new dietary reality. You may find a new favorite!
  15. Per op liquid diet starts tomorrow… surgery Thursday… I am so nervous about the unknowns
  16. caffeine is a stimulant and could easily cause tachycardia if you are now sensitive to it… a. does salt cause your heart to race?? that is more unusual and i would suggest you talk to a dr about it. i guess salt could cause some odd signal through your vagus nerve causing tachycardia but that is kinda a stretch… salt would more likely make you retain water or possibly have kidney effects …
  17. that is exactly how I hope it goes for me … going to dl shows to my ipad in case the wifi isn’t great and hope for an uneventful night! I have a big unknown which scares me.. not my sister and mother being extremely ill after general anesthesia (nausea and vomiting) for two or three DAYS post op…. i have never been under except for the endoscopy and that is lighter sedation so don’t know how i will react.. i hope I take after my Dad for that lol he is a champ and shakes it off easy
  18. my surgery is nov 3 and i will start my pre op liquid diet monday (dr told me tuesday but i am a worrier so doing extra to be sure my liver is ready!) BUT i have lost a bunch of weight already dealing with my food issues including binge and emotional eating… i still am learning but haven’t binged for months and feel in control with my food for the first time, well, ever… some tips: journaling helps. having a safe non-food outlet for your emotions. it releases pressure and can get you through tough times. forgiveness. work on forgiving your past choices and remind yourself all the time that you are worth a new, better chapter. it takes a month to start forming a new habit. brains can fight you the whole time. this is a cold turkey hard way, but remind yourself you are making a new set of habits to make you a healthier, happier person who is more in control of life. so glad you reached out for support !! you can PM me anytime at all
  19. greetings all! getting close to nov 3 surgery and nerves are flaring… tell me about your hospital stay post op so I can be prepared!!!
  20. it’s stressful and scary not knowing how much i can handle and don’t want to hurt myself trying to be normal! if only we had crystal balls and knew what it would be like after!
  21. any ladies have a c-section and the VSG surgery? (obviously not at the same time lol lol) My surgical experience is 2 c-sections in a year 18/19 years ago. (I currently have 2 18 year olds until Nov 10th) Does the physical recovery from VSG compare with c-section at all or too different to compare ? I was asking about recovery i pre op and they said what many on the forum have said; it’s not a very painful recovery for most. I said that I had two c-sections and they said it’s nothing compared to a c-section. As always, tho, I want to hear first hand experiences !!
  22. never thought about that, either!!! wow self isolating sounds a bit much, especially from your driver! I don’t even need a covid test unless i have symptoms or known exposure of verified positive
  23. i was surprised that they didn’t have surgical soap protocol. i am doing it anyway (already got my hibclens) just to be safer! also making sure i have fresh sheets etc the night before
  24. they just called me! yay! wbc is fine because of my history of it.. but i am getting some potassium supplements because it is low one less worry to stress about!
