May 2022 surgery?
Oh! I'm so sorry! I've had some minor gas and that is bad enough. I hope you work it out soon!

May 2022 surgery?
Congrats surgery twin! Tuesday for my sleeve too. I spent one night in and was released the next day. I'm doing my walking, getting the protein and water required. Pain is manageable with Tylenol and gabapentin. How is it going for you?

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
I know this one is pretty common, but it's still so important to me. Left the hospital off of metformin and checked my blood sugar the next day - 90. 90! I haven't been under 100 in so long. Very excited for my future health.

May Surgery Buddies
My wife said they called her 3 hours after I went back. The doc said the surgery should only take 90 minutes to 2 hours. So, two to three hours, I guess.

May Surgery Buddies
Yup. On my way home right now.

May Surgery Buddies
I brought a clean change of clothes. Slippers for walking the halls. A long charging cable for my phone. A small bottle of biotene dry mouth spray. (Only needed it waking from surgery, but it really felt good at that time). Toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant. That's it.

May Surgery Buddies
I'm 23 hours out of sleeve surgery. Had a hernia repair and gallbladder removed too. I've been up and about for the last 8 hours. My pain is 1-2 with Tylenol, gabapentin, and the very last vestiges of the spinal block they used on me. I've been sipping water out of 1 ounce cups since an hour after I woke from surgery. Two hours after I started with the water, i added in protein shakes. A little at first, building up as my body let's me. I'm currently getting between 4-6 oz of water/shake each hour. I had Dilaudid when I first woke and was in 6-7 pain. No more doses of that. They've been giving me Tylenol, pepcid, heperin, and gabapentin. I'm supposed to be getting released this afternoon.

Alright. Out of surgery, in my room, and pain is managed. Walked to the toilet. Drinking water. I can do this.

Currently sitting in the pre-op room. Surgeon is three hours behind schedule and I'm bored and just wanting to get this over with.

2.5 week post op VSG— first before and after picture
Good job! I see a big difference. Mine is tomorrow. Sleeve, hernia and gallbladder too. What were your issues the first week coming out of that? Major pain? Walking? Gas?

6/6 Pre Op Liquid Diet
I have surgery tomorrow. Two week liquid was rough at first, but got easier as I went along. I did track mine with Baritastic, but I didn't really need to. My diet was 20oz skim milk, 3x day. Same each day, didn't really need to track. Just did it to keep in the habit. Keep strong. You can do it.

May 2022 surgery?
All set for surgery tomorrow morning. Liver shrinking diet got easier as the two weeks went on. Sleeve, hernia repair, and gall bladder removal. Yay!

May Surgery Buddies
So many different plans. I just had my pre op nutrition class and the plan they have for me is 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks pureed, and 2 weeks soft.

May 2022 surgery?
My RNY is on the 24th. Was originally going to get a VSG but after an endoscopy, the doc thinks my GERD is worse on my body than the way I feel about it. Convinced me that I would probably be horrendously suffering from acid if I went with the VSG. Also going to repair my hiatal hernia and after doing a nuclear scan going to pull out my gallbladder. Wheeeee.... Started my pre-op diet on the 10th. I'm jealous of all your pre-op diets. I get two weeks of 20oz non-fat milk 3x a day. 50oz of other liquids a day - water, broth, decaf tea or coffee. On day five and it's really not all that bad. Doc's literature said this type of diet activated the body's hunger suppresant. And I'm really surprised how.... well, I am hungry, but I'm not as hungry as I would have thought. Anyway, nervous and excited at the same time. I'm sure you've all felt that same way.

Questions about weight gain due to SSRI’s like Paxil before surgery…HELP!
I was able, after the fourth attempt, to taper off paxil. I switched to Prozac when I was down to the final quarter dose. This was relatively recent, 1.5 months, so no conclusion whether it's actually helped me or not. But it can be done. Not easy, but possible.
