Chevy Girl, Did your dr put you on the protein diet? That seems like a long time but it should pay off at the end with weight loss and an easier surgery. I have read that if you go on a diet before surgery it will make it easier to recover. Is anyone here doing any pre op exercise? damn it seems like the days are just stalling. Does it seem like time is standing still?

Hey, Talked again to my insurance company and a few different hopitals in the New York area ( none were in my companies network). One thing for sure it seems to be alot of red tape to get this procedure done in th US without spending a couple of weeks in , pre op appointments and finally surgery. My company is checking into the Mexican possibilities . What I have been told is that they will pay airfare for me and another person to go the procedure "out of thier network ". They will pay 80 % of the procedure. They will pay for one follow up visit and also 170.00 usd per day for hotel and food the days I am not in the hospital. this will add up for me only paying about 2500.00 usd. This is also getting it done in one week and not over a possible two week period. If they agree to Mexico and the other information above I will get it done sooner rather then later as it is only about 2500.00 usd. What do you all think abot this now?

Well after 2 weeks of papers into the insurance I got my approval for the surgery . Now I have a couple of concerns. I do not live in the USA. I was planning on going to Mexico if I was self paying. The insurance will pay 100% if done "in network" in the states. I have had my mind so set on my self pay date of May 2006, that now with the insurance I know the possible date will be later . If I get it " out on Network" the insurance company will only pay 50%. What would you do :help:?

Hello, I am considering him also. I am looking towards the middle of May. I have requested information on him on this site and probably had 5 or so responses. All of the feedback I got was excellent. Let me know what your plans are and I can keep you abreast of mine also. I am thinking of the same package in the smaller clinic/ hospital. Have you contacted anyone at his office yet? I am also considering the Dr. Rumbault in Monterrey also but more expensive and I personally know of a few people that have been to him..But I am self pay and looking at price.. keep me posted..!!

That is great news..... Keep up the good work. I want to tie my shoes with ease one day. Or wear socks that do not cut off my circulation..Weight loss for me will be alot of advantages. I think wearing a tie that does not look like a childs will be something to celebrate!!!

Hey, I am soooooo happy for you. I have my papers into the insurance also. It has been two weeks now. IThey are leaning more for the bypass they the lap band. They are doing some research themselves on this procedure... But I have my own funds to get it done one way or the other.

Sleepy Jean and the Mayers, It seems you are the first of us in May. How are you mentally? Have you been eating like it is your last meal? Are you doing any exercise? What type of exercise does all of the "Mayers" plan on doing? I think walking and probably stationary bike will be my initial thrust post op! I just wish my day was today and get this flab rolling...

Hey Chevygirl!! Wow your amost a April Bander!! I know you must be happy. It seems to me that time is dragging out but I am mentally ready. I am not planning to be off work too many days. Leave the country I am in now on Tuesday 9th, surgery in Mexico the Wednesday 10th ., back to work country on the 13th after all day flying!! And io work on the 15th. How long is everyone planning on being off from work?
