Feeling depressed/hopeless on liquid diet
Hi! I'm going to be switching to my old vegan shakes that I never had a bad reaction to. I've also called all my offices today and I'm waiting on a call back directly from my surgeon's team. I'm hopeful they call ASAP and give me some sort of a solution. It is REALLY NICE to be able to reveal all of my feelings, as ugly as they were yesterday...it helped me SOOOO MUCH.

Feeling depressed/hopeless on liquid diet
Thank you so much for just listening and reading. Writing on here yesterday helped release so much of the anger and disappointment I was feeling. I've reached out to my GI doctor and my surgeon's team and I'm supposed to get a call back today. Already seeing my GI doctor tomorrow.

Feeling depressed/hopeless on liquid diet
OMG! YESSSS! The mood swings are so intense. And super unfortunate. I am now in that stage of nonstop crying and nonstop anger. I've been able to control my anger and not lash out but sometimes I do make some very strong remarks to my boyfriend and I feel so guilty. I cry all the time -- I definitely release that LOL. At times I just isolate myself to make sure I keep myself controlled. I will say I feel better today compared to how low and intense I felt last night.

Feeling depressed/hopeless on liquid diet
Hi. I need a safe place to post my feelings and I thought of posting here. I hope I can be as raw as I need to be without getting criticized or judged. I'm on day 6 of the all liquid diet. I'm not doing well emotionally of physically. My mood prior to the all liquid diet was me always happy, active, healthy and on top of my game in all senses. Prior to the all liquid diet, I was working out and eating right and losing weight to the point that the surgeon's team told me I could stop eating right and stop working out because I had showed them I'm fully capable of following the plan and succeeding on it. I didn't listen to them telling me to stop because I was feeling great on my new routine and seeing results, so why would I stop eating right and working out? Now that I'm on the all liquid diet, I get sudden bursts of extreme anger, extreme sadness and I feel depressed. I feel like I'm hurting myself so much. I've had six days of extreme diarrhea. I feel sick. I don't think this all liquid diet is normal or healthy. It's actually making me feel like this is not worth it. And, again -- that is not like my normal self. My normal self is the complete opposite of how I feel and sound right now. I feel like this all liquid diet, because of how harshly and badly my body is reacting to it and my mood, it's making me not even want to try to drink anything, because we aren't eating anything to begin with. This is complete and utter torture. I don't feel like helping myself, and again that is NOT my normal self. I feel so sad and angry and I just want to throw and break things and cry nonstop. This isn't me though. I'm so displeased with this right now. I absolutely hate this and right now -- to be honest, I hate anything and everything. I'm so triggered. I feel like calling out of work tomorrow and taking a day to just be more miserable and see if I can somehow bring myself back up. But I feel so broken, physically and emotionally. I called a 24/7 nurse hotline and they urged me to go see a medical doctor ASAP. I'm probably getting 300ish calories in a day. I feel like someone pushed me, and I don't even want to pick myself back up. Realistically, I know some patients are put on a full liquid diet for 2-3 weeks. I know others are put on an all liquid diet just ONE DAY prior to their surgery. I know others are allowed one solid meal a day. My head is fighting the facts with reasons. I've followed the diet to a T 100%. But I absolutely hate everything right now. And no, it's not a carb or sugar crash. I wasn't eating carbs or sugars prior to the all liquid diet. I've been extremely healthy for the past 2 months...I'm just shocked at how differently, in a very bad way, I feel right now. I just feel...sick.

All liquid pre-op diet causing diarrhea?
Hi! Is diarrhea normal when on the all liquid pre-op diet? I'm on day 4. My intestines are nonstop rumbling and causing discomfort. I have probably gone #2 about 5-7 times so far and I've been awake for only 8 hours today. I called my surgeon's office today to ask if I can somewhat expand my diet or maybe add some other things to it (like fiber? or chia seeds?) and I was told I'd have to make an appointment and the next availability wasn't until June 9 (LOL my surgery is scheduled for April 26th). I was on such a clean diet and losing weight prior to the all liquid diet. I was at the gym daily lifting heavy too. I stopped going to the gym since I started the all liquid diet. I still try to do daily 1 hour walks to at least get my system going. I'm worried about working out how I was when I'm probably on a 500 calorie diet now... I've had nonstop GI issues for over a year now that I've been working with my GI doctor to figure out. And the all liquid diet isn't helping. I'm not quite sure what I can do or where to seek help. I do have access to a 24/7 nurse through my insurance so I may explore that tonight just for advice from a nurse. Being honest, I just don't feel okay in regards to my digestive system. I'm uncomfortable and constantly running to the bathroom. I feel bloated and gassy. Sometimes the urge to go #2 is super strong and I try to run to the bathroom (which isn't even far from me) and I've already had accidents. I know this is super raw and honest, but I'm so shocked at how my system is reacting. I know I already had other GI issues so this certainly isn't helping one bit. Do people have normal stools during the all liquid diet? Is diarrhea common? What should I do? Any advice or tips?

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
Hi Tina! I've never had an issue with sugar free gelatins or liquids. Those are staples of my diet and have been for years. What I was suspecting was causing this was all the almond milk and all the yogurt. I normally don't eat that. And I LOVE cottage cheese and eat it regularly even before this diet, but just last week my GI doctor said he suspected I may be somewhat allergic to cottage cheese, milks and yogurts. So I'm torn between following this pre-op diet that is sooo limited but some of the little liquids I'm allowed to have may be causing issues...but I'm not a surgeon and I can't just dictate what's best for me in order to undergo this surgery. I actually just got imodium per my GI's recommendation. I should take that right now! Thank you for the idea, I hadn't thought of it. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with me.

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
That was beautifully written. I'm going to re-read this anytime I'm having a hard time. Thank you for sharing such kind thoughts and words with me. Did you regain weight after a first initial surgery? I had naturally lost 100+ lbs about 9 years ago and with time, I regained it all. This surgery is my second attempt at losing 100+ lbs.

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
Hi girl! The 26th is my surgery date!!! AHHHH!!! Honestly -- I'm going to be honest with you. I was nervous about it too, and now that I'm in it -- I am quite unhappy. I'm miserable. That's me being honest. Prior to the diet, I was already on a diet and working out every day and losing weight. So I figured since I was showing my team I was making really good choices, that maybe somehow the all liquid diet could get shortened or changed. Nope. I need to find the Fairlife shakes, and the Protein2o waters too. Everyone talks about those. My tips for the broths are these: Go to your nearest Target and order all of the "Good & Gather" broths. The tortilla, ramen, Tuscan and pho broths are already flavorful and I always add spices to it, especially the bouillon stuff. Makes them DELICIOUS. I also always boil mine so it's nice and warm and it brings me comfort. To be super honest, the issue I'm having right now is with my digestive system. I've had digestive system issues for the past 2 years ever since I got COVID. And this all liquid diet is really aggrevating it all. Hi Tina! It's really hard, and today I noticed my digestive system is NOT happy. I'm CONSTANTLY running to the bathroom. I'm very uncomfortable. I have internal fights with myself about this diet and how some are allowed to eat one meal and some are not allowed to eat anything. What's right? I know ultimately I need to follow my surgeon's instructions as unfortunate as they may be. I need to try more gatorades and electrolyte drinks. I will have to try packets since the bottles are pricey. Honestly, a lot of this stuff is super pricey.

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
Ok first of all -- YOUR RESULTS ARE INSANE!!!! SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! My goal weight is 150-ish! Okay, I have not thought of these "cheese curds" you mentioned. Were they good? I have boiled lots of water and added seasoning like bouillon powder and cubs to add flavor. I'll have to google that or youtube it and see how it's done! I love the creativity!!! I need to eat more of the popsicles I bought. I don't love the texture of the ones I got, but I've tried other sugar free popsicles that were soooooo fruity and much smoother.

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
Yeah -- I've read stories of people who cheated and were fine. And then others who cheated and day of surgery on the operating table they got denied because their liver was too big. I know I'm not the biggest patient ever so I SHOULD be fine, but I also know it's a journey and the first few days are probably the hardest. I am curious to see how much I lose in these next two weeks LOL.

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
OMG your diet is even harder! I'm lucky compared to yours. ? I'm on day three! Let's really connect and keep each other accountable/give each other help! I hadn't heard of Knox Blox and now I'm googling. I'm down for trying different things. Honestly, I find myself on YouTube a lot trying to figure out what to do and how to mix it up. I haven't tried the Shamrock Frams shakes or the Rockin' Protein ones. Fairlife is really recommended by a lot but I'm having trouble finding them at a somewhat affordable price since I already went out and bought four protein powders...honestly, I've spent about $250 just on liquid foods to fill my fridge. It's insane considering I'm just drinking liquids. It's mind blowing. But there's nothing I can do about it. It still seems so impossible and I'm trying to be positive about it but right now my mind is hung up on this: Some surgeons require all liquid for 2 weeks, some surgeons require all liquid just the day before, and some surgeons require all liquid all day except for one solid meal under XXX calories for 2 weeks. So I keep thinking to myself that maybe there's some wiggle room...but I also don't want to risk it, but so many other people get placed on different diets for the same procedure.

How to make sugar free pudding taste yummier
Hi! ? I'm on a 2 week pre-op diet of all liquids. ? ? One of the yummiest things I'm allowed to eat is sugar-free pudding. I've bought the Snack Pack sugar free pudding in flavors chocolate and vanilla and they taste great. However, I recently bought the pudding mix to make at home (and make in bigger amounts since clearly I'm hungry). I mixed the pudding mix with almond milk (saw online that recipes recommend you use less almond milk compared to traditional milk), since on my diet I'm allowed to have unsweeted almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk but not regular milk. Bad news -- the pudding I made doesn't taste as yummy as the pre-packed Snack Pack pudding. Any tips to fix my pudding? I really enjoy eating it but I definitely need it in bigger amounts than the small snack-size... Thanks! ☺️

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
Thank you for this tip! I just ordered all these different flavored broths (in cartons) that Target sells (and at a great price!) and I will be buying some bouillon cubes and "cooking" it together to make it seem more flavorful. I'm not sure what bone broth is compared to other broths? Also thank you for sharing in such details what you liked and did when you underwent this diet. I appreciate it! Everyone keeps mentioning Fairlife -- I NEED to find them and try them out!

Screwed up the PreOp diet today
I'm so happy and relieved to hear that! ? I'm definitely feeling hungry at the moment. So far have had: yogurt, 1 protein shake, and pudding...doesn't help that I'm at work and had to pre-pack and pre-make everything not knowing exactly how it'll go. I packed broth in a protein cup and I'm sure that won't be very yummy...

Tips & tricks for the pre-op ALL LIQUID DIET!
If you could go back in time and warn/educate your younger self on how to best stick to the all liquid pre-op diet, what tips and tricks would you share? My all liquid pre-op diet started today. I'm allowed: 3-4 shakes (pre-made or via protein powders) Water Clear protein waters Crystal Light mixers and such Gatorade, Vitamin Water, Propel Sugar-free gelatin Sugar-free pudding Sugar-free popsicles Light Greek yogurt Fat-free cottage cheese Broth Herbal teas ANY ADVICE/HELP IS GREATLY APPRECAITED! I feel like I can succeed, but I've always known THIS would be the hardest part of my journey. So far, these are some of the tricks I've come up with (but I'm a newbie, and I know you pro's out there have GOT TO HAVE SOME SOLID TIPS AND TRICKS!): Make your protein shakes with some light Greek yogurt to change the consistency Add bullions to your broths to add some flavor and eat them hot Try ramen and miso broths Make your own sugar-free gelatin/pudding in your own Tupperware so you can just sit there and eat that in order to confuse yourself into thinking you're eating a solid meal Tracking my food in a nutrition journal to better understand when I'm hungry/how often I'm eating Some questions I already have: What pre-made protein shakes are worth the $$$? What protein powders did you really enjoy, are not chalky, and are worth the $$$? I ended up buying 4 different protein powders from 2 brands (brands: SinFit and Motiv8). THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL HELP!

Screwed up the PreOp diet today
Hi! I JUST JOINED. I've been lurking for a few days but decided it was time I join. Well...today is day 1 of my pre-op diet. Your diet sounds a whole lot better than mine. Mine is all liquids. I'm not sure how this is going to go...I'm optimistic but this is HARD.
