  1. THIS THIS THIS!!!!! 100% exactly where I am. This is a new lease on life, you know? Let's embrace it, try new things, try old things that we couldn't really do before, let's just try THINGS!!! If I wanted everything to stay exactly the same I wouldn't have bothered with the surgery. And you can also message me anytime you want, too
  2. I agree with you about counseling, but it's hard to do it when only 1 of you sees a problem. He's super happy with the way things are and thinks I'm just being a b*&ch when I complain about it or even try to talk about it.
  3. I'm bi, and my longest relationship with a woman was 6 years. And while we had issues similar to yours, it was NEVER as bad as it is with my husband!! I'm really and truly at my wits end.
  4. My husband of 17 years is just really driving me CRAZY!!!! I've made a lengthy post about some health stuff I have going on right now (reflux, esophagitis, gastritis, esophageal spasms, and esophageal dysmotility which they think is caused by a hernia...waiting for appt for scope) and he's using it as an excuse to just stop working out, stop eating right, stop everything. None of what I have going on is from my surgery. I don't have any leaks, strictures, blockages, nothing. BUT, this started after I did an insanely intense workout, so everyone is thinking that's the cause. ANYWAY, he has a pattern of quitting stuff when he starts, as soon as it gets hard. College, 3 different side businesses, working out, keto, vegan, low/no fat, calorie counting, bariatric surgery (had 1 consult, set up the nutritionist appt and backed out. Did this 3x before they said he couldn't come back), etc etc etc. He's always been like this, but it's gotten worse over the last year or so. He literally follows through on NOTHING. Not one single thing. OH, unless it's involving wrestling or gaming. Oh THEN his follow-through is on point. Can't let his guild down!! Can't let his buddies down!! Can't miss wrestling (he literally watches Mon - Fri, and if there's pay per view on the weekend, he watches that, too). I work full time and pay all the bills. The deal we have is I will work and he is to take care of the house, grocery shopping, etc (I have a much higher earning potential than he does, and I love what i do, and he doesn't like to work, and I hate household stuff, so in theory the deal works) but he's been slacking on that, too. I'm cleaning up behind him, doing chores, grocery shopping. He's sleeping or gaming or whatever. We've argued about it and I told him if I have to take care of the house AND work, then he needs to go get a job too. If I have to work full time, do the cooking and cleaning and shopping then what the heck is he even here for? He's not supportive anymore, we don't do anything together, we argue a lot, and he has NO FOLLOW THROUGH ON ANYTHING. He gets all excited "I'm gonna start a youtube channel" or "I'm gonna start streaming on Twitch" or "I'm going to design websites for a living" or "I'm gonna go to school and get my degree in Early Childhood Education and work as a teacher online" etc. And he ends up doing NOTHING. "I'm gonna work out and get healthy so we can lose weight and have better health together" and "I'm gonna eat right and make sure we have healthy food in the house so neither of us are tempted to cheat" and then he goes to Burger King and buys 2 double whoppers with fries and eats it all. I'm just so sick of it all. I hate even being around him sometimes. He's just so LAZY and has zero motivation for anything at all. It's infuriating!!!
  5. I never lost the hunger at all whatsoever. It's miserable, having to limit what you eat when you're still hungry. BUT, eventually you ARE able to train your brain and stomach that you've eaten enough and you're not starving. It's important not to overeat because not only can you hurt your new stomach, you'll slide right back into the habits that got you here in the first place. Also, I learned the hard way that just because you CAN eat more doesn't mean you SHOULD. The head hunger is the absolute worst. That's the hardest to learn to ignore. But I promise you, it really can be done. Just stick with it.
  6. Yes, I take the GI cocktail but it's GROSS. And it burns when it first goes down (for like 5-8 seconds) and then it feels a little weird because the esophagus is numb and feels odd. But I'm on liquid and mushy foods and after I take the cocktail, I can eat. I take it 3 times a day, about 15 minutes before I eat.
  7. For those that don't know what my diagnosis' are, here ya go: 1) esophageal dysmotility - a condition where the muscles in your esophagus fail to contract and the esophagus does not properly deliver food and liquids into your stomach. 2) esophageal spasms - painful contractions within the muscular tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus). Sometimes the spasms are frequent and can prevent food and liquids from traveling through the esophagus 3) esophagitis - inflammation that may damage tissues of the esophagus, the muscular tube that delivers food from your mouth to your stomach. 4) gastritis - inflammation, irritation, or erosion of the lining of the stomach. It can occur suddenly (acute) or gradually (chronic). 5) reflux - occurs when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus
  8. Biotin is more for the quality and health of the hair itself. It really does nothing for the scalp and roots. It doesn't slow or prevent hair loss (no matter what the interwebs say lol ) The best thing to do is just wait it out. Honestly. I know it sucks (my hair always shed more because of pcos but now it's SHEDDING and it's bothersome, but I know it's normal and it'll stop, so I'm just riding it out) but meeting your protein goals is the most important. Hair needs protein to grow, but it can't produce it. Without protein, your hair will shed and not be able to come back in. For me, I'm staying at the top of the protein requirement (80-90g per day) just to make sure my hair will have what it needs. I use hair masks and all that, but it's mostly because I like my hair soft, shiny, and not frizzy (I have hair that will poof out like a poodle if I don't keep it under control). They don't help with regrowth, but I like the routine of self care, and I like how my hair looks and feels after.
  9. I have an appt with my NP on Friday. They said if I haven't gotten a call from the GI by then to schedule my appt for the scope then they will call them to get me in quickly. I was given a "GI cocktail" that numbs my esophagus, treats the acid in my stomach, and prevents nausea and vomiting. My hubby is going to get it filled now. My paperwork says it's an antacid, Donnatal, and viscous lidocaine. I was given a dose in the ER and it BURNS initially, but then after about 20 or so minutes, I was actually able to eat a very small amount of food!!!! I came home and had 1 plain scrambled egg, and it was GLORIOUS!!!! Actual food!!!!! I'm back on a liquid and mushy food diet (just like after surgery) until this gets resolved, but at least I have a way to have some food again!!!! My official diagnosis thus far is esophageal dysmotility with esophageal spasms, moderate esophagitis, mild to moderate gastritis, mild to moderate reflux. Referral to GI for scope to rule out hernia. Prescription for GI cocktail consisting of lidocaine, Donnatal, and Maalox. No leakage, blockage, or stricture.

  11. I have esophagitis, gastritis, and gerd. I'm being referred to a GI specialist to have a scope done to see if there's a hernia. They could only do the barium swallow test in the ER. OH, also, apparently my esophagus spasms pretty dramatically any time I eat or drink anything. So...yeah.

  13. Hi sorry for the delay in update. I had to wait for the NP to call me back. I left a message with everything going on and she just called me and said my surgeon said to go to the ER. He's calling ahead to tell them to expect me and he wants a scope done to see what's going on. The NP said it sounds like a really bad hiatal hernia but they need to be sure. So I'm changing clothes and heading there. I'll let you know what's going on once I know.
  14. Hi all. It's only 6:35am where I'm at, so they aren't open yet. I did want to mention to @kcuster83 that I had my gallbladder out back in 97 so I know it's not that. The pain is my upper abdomen/stomach area. I will definitely be very assertive with them. I may even have my husband drive me to their office and just sit there if they can't do anything for me over the phone. I will let you all know what happens after I call (they open at 9am Mountain time). Thanks for your responses!!
  15. I'm calling when the office opens. I'm just trying to figure this out in the meantime.
  16. Just to update everyone...I don't speak to them anymore. I have lost almost 70 pounds in 3 1/2 months. I work out, watch my diet, I'm strict about doing everything I'm supposed to. I take my vitamins and supplements. And the last straw was when they told me my weight loss didn't count because I took the easy way out and let the surgery do all the work for me. They said anyone who has most of their stomach removed can drop a ton of weight, so I shouldn't be acting like I accomplished anything. That was it for me. I was done. And I haven't looked back since!!
  17. Did you ever have your surgery? Did you choose that doctor or go with someone else?
  18. I know I was really thinking what I have is GERD, but now I'm not sure what is going on. So here's what I'm dealing with: 1) burning in my throat and occasionally my chest and stomach 2) nausea when eating anything at all, no matter what it is or how much or little of it I try to eat 3) can't tolerate anything but liquids now 4) if I try to eat, it literally won't go down. It sits at the bottom of my throat and doesn't move for AGES. Drinking liquid doesn't help. It just gets stuck there, too. 5) lots of burping and hiccups 6) dark, sticky kinda poo (sorry, tmi) 7) heaviness and pain in my upper stomach/abdominal area 8 ) occasional shortness of breath 9) feeling full after literally 2 or 3 bites of something (small bites, and before stuff wouldn't go down, I was trying to eat and I would be PAINFULLY full after 2 or 3 bites) 10) literally woke up with what felt like acid in my throat this morning (now my throat feels raw and hurts) Some of this sounds like GERD, but some of it doesn't. My husband looked it up and said it sounds like a hiatal hernia, but I don't know. Anyone have experience with that? I'm up late because I'm in so much pain and I can't sleep. Definitely looking forward to calling my surgeon's office. But still, anyone on here have any clue at all what this might be??

  20. From my 1st appt to my surgery date was only 2 1/2 months. It can be a little overwhelming when it happens so fast, but that's also a good thing. So many have a 6, 8, or even 12 month wait and we didn't. We're extremely lucky and blessed. That just means you get to start your journey to a healthier you that much sooner Congrats!!!
  21. Not diabetic anymore, normal blood pressure, was able to get off 1 of my anti-inflammatories, can walk long distances now, asthma has improved.
  22. Now that I've had my surgery, I can comment on the other side of things. I will be honest, the pcos makes it harder to lose weight and keep it off. But if you stick RELIGIOUSLY to your diet, work out (even if it's a little everyday, nothing crazy), you WILL see results. I've lost 69 pounds in 3 1/2 months. And it's staying off. Will stalls happen? YES. Do they royally suck and mess with your head? HELL YES. But they are normal, they will happen, and as long as you pay attention to your non scale victories (getting off meds, clothes and rings too big, fitting in a booth better, comfortably fitting in a "regular" stall and not the bigger handicapped one, etc) you'll see progress even when the scale isn't moving. I've been off my blood pressure and diabetes meds for months. It's AMAZING. The pcos will make it harder, and will test you, but you can do this. You're stronger and better than the stupid pcos. Once you believe that, the rest is easier.
  23. Well, now that I've had my surgery, I can comment again on this from the other side. I will be honest, the pcos makes it harder to lose weight and keep it off. 25. I was much larger than you and I have PCOS and I had insulin resistance that turned into type 2 diabetes. I will be honest, the pcos makes it harder to lose weight and keep it off.
