Very specific question for those with pcos and a total hysterectomy....
My doctor said they tend to not want to remove ovaries on anyone that hasn't already had menopause because they don't want to send anyone into medical menopause. But she said with my PCOS, very large uterine fibroids, and all the problems both were giving me for years, she absolutely was able to justify removing them. And since I'll be 46 next month, she said I was in the gray area but still reasonable to do it. I was ecstatic. I have had so many surgeries and complications and issues over the last 2 years that I just wanted all of my stuff to be done and over. Now I'm on estrogen (tomorrow will be 3 weeks post op from the hysterectomy and also on estrogen since she started me on it the same day via patch) and I'm feeling great. It's literally the first time in my life that I've had regulated hormones!!!

I can't believe I'm here again. Sleeved Jan 2013. HELP
Have a revision to bypass. That's what I did and it's a game changer. Now, I had it due to complications, but it's still worth it. Start looking into it, and work on getting your mind back in the game. You know the diet, you know the rules, you know how this works. Get started now. I will say, you won't lose weight as fast, or as much, as with your original weight loss surgery. But you could look at a good 40-50 pound loss, which would put you right back in the weight you liked. I say definitely do it.

Clothing sizes
SAME!!! This is exactly me right now. Almost like having imposter syndrome. I bought a pair of green Calvin Klein capris in size 14, with no give, no elastic, no stretch at all anywhere. They weren't fitting yet (mostly in the stomach area, pre-hysterectomy), so I kind of hid them in the back of the closet. Today I pulled them out and tried them on and OMG they fit PERFECTLY!!! I actually cried. I got them at our local thrift store here called The Arc (it's my favorite and I love it so much) and just never had the chance to wear them until literally right now. I am still shocked that I'm in an actual, legit size 14. I was a size 30 at my highest weight, and this just absolutely BLOWS MY MIND. I had to clean out my closet AGAIN and get rid of the size 18 and 16 stuff and the last of my 2x tops (they're listed on Facebook Marketplace). I suspect once I get my skin surgeries and tummy tuck, I'll be in a size 12. HOW is this my life now???? lol

Very specific question for those with pcos and a total hysterectomy....
Thank you so much for this!!! i think maybe the reason I heard a hysterectomy isn't a cure is because nowadays, many doctors aren't removing the ovaries if the woman hasn't hit menopause naturally yet. But my doctor is amazing and she said since I was having so many issues with ALL of my female plumbing (that's actually how she said it lol) I could have them removed along with everything else and go on HRT if I wanted. I jumped at it and have been completely happy with that choice. So it makes sense that my PCOS is gone now that both ovaries are, too, and the major stumbling block with losing weight is also gone. Thanks again!!!!

Clothing sizes
There are times I look in the mirror and I love what I see. And there are other times I still see 421 pounds. I struggle so much with that. And clothing shopping just makes it all weird lol I have so many more really cute options now, but I never remember that. I just head to the plus size section until I'm corrected.

TORe Procedure
Did you ever have your procedure? If so, how did it go? I never knew there was a revision for the bypass. I had a revision from the sleeve to the bypass, so it's nice to know if I ever need another revision down the line, there's an option.

hernia and weight gain after gastric sleeve
I wasn't offered the medications, but I would have declined them if I was. I don't want to rely on them, especially with the shortages. I can't afford the cost, and since I'm no longer diabetic (A1c is 5.3) I would have to pay out of pocket. I won't go the compound route because I don't trust it. For me, I wanted to just have the surgery and do the work so that I was reliant on ME and not a medication I may or may not be able to even get my hands on at any given month. I also felt that, if I'm not diabetic, I don't want Ozempic or Monjauro because those are specifically for diabetics and I didn't want to take meds for them. Wegovy and Zepbound are for weight loss, and those are pretty much never covered by insurance. So I just bypassed all of it completely.

WEIGHT LOSS SLOWING DOWN
How are you feeling now? You should really speak to your surgeon. At this point, you should definitely be getting more calories in and be able to eat actual food.
-
weight stall
How are you doing now? Also, remember that the average weight loss is 2 pounds per week. So at 2 1/2 months (10 weeks) that would be 20 pounds. You were at 39 pounds. So definitely doing well. I hope you're feeling better now.

So I finally had my hysterectomy, and it went about as well as any of my surgeries go....
I appreciate it

Is it only me?
Unfortunately, it doesn't get a whole lot better. My stomach frequently sounds like it's possessed by a demon and trying to break free. Especially during quiet time or sexy time. Sometimes Gas-X helps, but more often than not, I just sound crazy.

Clothing sizes
Does anyone else go to buy clothes and still want to buy your starting weight size? It’s hard for me to comprehend I have to buy smaller sizes now. I went from a size 5x/30 to a size XL/14, and I still look at the plus size section. My husband is forever saying "honey, you're not in those sizes anymore" and guides me back over to the regular section. Anyone else have this issue? And if so, when does it get better?

Very specific question for those with pcos and a total hysterectomy....
I had a total abdominal hysterectomy and am now on HRT (literally the first time since I was 15 that I've had my hormones regulated at all). My uterus, 3 huge uterine fibroids, both ovaries, both fallopian tubes, and cervix combines weighed 4 pounds when they were removed. I weighed 212 on surgery day on May 7th. After I lost the water weight from 3 days of IVs, I was 208, which I expected. I was started on estrogen in the hospital. So here I am, 18 days post op, and I have lost 13 pounds. I walk 3-4 times every day, I eat normally, I rest a lot. I take my normal MS and Lupus meds and my normal supplements. The only difference is I had the hysterectomy and I'm on HRT. I'm noticing that I seem to be having a much easier time losing weight. It's almost like it was when I first had my bariatric surgery. I haven't lost weight like this in over a year. So here's what I'm wondering.... since pcos is known for causing weight gain and not allowing weight loss, and since my hormones are finally regulating with the HRT, and since I no longer have any issues with fibroids, cysts, horrible periods, etc... could the hysterectomy have maybe corrected a lot of the pcos issues and now the stuff slowing and stopping my weight loss is gone and I'm back to losing again? Did having the hysterectomy actually help with weight loss? I know a hysterectomy isn't a cure for pcos, but I'm really wondering if the combination of the HRT and hysterectomy are working together with my WLS to actually give me normal, proper results? Has anyone else experienced this, or know someone who has?

2nd goal hit!!!
I hit my original goal of 200 and moved it to 195. I just hit my next goal of 195 and moved it to 190. Let's see how long it takes me to hit 190 now!!!! The question is, will I actually hit my secret goal??!?!
