  1. Thank you for the encouragement! I def am getting myself prepped in advance. I feel like I have a lot of sweet things like the shakes, ice pops, jello etc and I’m more of a savory person so I’m gonna try and get a bunch of broths to mix it up
  2. Wow! Excellent job! Kudos to you! I bought the Gatorade zero w protein. I think they have 10gms each so I will definitely drink a lot of those when it’s my time next week. What I’m really nervous about it I will still have to shop and cook for my kids so that will be rough. I sat them down and explained my diet and I may be cranky, etc and they understand but cooking meals when I can’t eat will be a challenge.
  3. I’m cranky just thinking about it I start the diet next week. I really don’t know what else to say besides just keep your eye on the prize! And I think feeling cranky is quite normal
  4. Be grateful it’s only 7 days I would love that! Everyone in our practice has to do the same 2 week liquid diet regardless of starting weight. Good luck you are almost there!!
  5. I have no advice really bc I’m going under 4/19 also for a sleeve but to say I’m starting to get excited now. I went through the nerves part earlier. But I am very very nervous about the liquid diet I need to start next week. I’m prepared but I still have to cook and shop for two teenage boys so that is going to be tough. Good luck and congrats!
  6. So happy for you! I know you were worried so I’m very happy to hear you can now put this stress test behind you!
  7. Yes! I feel that way I’m going to try and find a therapist now bc I’m gonna need one
  8. Wow ? congrats that’s amazing! Have you found it hard to stick to?
  9. Congrats to you! I’m 4/19 so I should be out and on my way to eating purées when you go in
  10. My liquid diet is 3 shakes a day (they suggested the Fairlife shakes I got mine at BJ’s) they should have low carbs and sugar with some fiber. Premier is another popular one or Atkins. We can have three drinks a day of either - one egg, sugar free pudding or jello (1/2 cup), one light greek yogurt or 1/2 cup plain ricotta or cottage cheese. We can have unlimited sugar and caffeine free beverages, ice pops and plain broth
  11. Congrats! I just finished my zoom class with the others who are getting surgery from my surgeon within the next few weeks and it was very helpful. She said that those who take diabetes meds will never take them again once they leave the hospital so congrats on that also! I’m at 40 bmi with no co-morbidities per se but I want to get ahead of it. I have low energy, joint pain and get out of breathe easily. Not how I want to feel at 45 years old so I’m excited for this tool!
  12. That was my experience, obviously every dr does things differently but I would rather not risk not getting approved. Good luck!!! I’m scheduled for 4/19!
  13. If your paperwork is already submitted, you’re good to go. If not, I would maintain. My surgeons office originally told me that it would only matter what my first weigh in was but then they corrected themselves bc what really mattered was the weight I was at when I did my testing for cardio, pulmonary, psych and nutrition because it was after that they submitted the packet to the insurance.
  14. My surgeon told me that if you meet the criteria you’re good. I still was nervous though but my approval came in about 2 days
  15. I would definitely wait. I totally get your concerns and I know that most doctors have the 2 week liquid diet but in reality I know many people who they “pushed thru” with just a few days liquid prior. So yea I would not loose. Insurance can be a b***h!
  16. Hey there! I am just at a 40 bmi with no co morbidities so my dr actually told me to maintain my weight until surgery. Although I do still have to do the 2 week diet prior and I’m sure I will he said at that point the weight won’t matter. My journey was a little different I did all my pre op testing cardio, pulmonary, nutrition, psych, sleep study and my 12 office visits (per my insurance, Aetna) then I was approved at the end of January. I asked to be scheduled mid April due to some work things I had going on. I now have to do more testing at the hospital on 4/15 an EKG, chest X-ray, Covid test and blood work, I’ll see my primary Mon 4/18 for final clearance and then hospital 4/19. But back to your original question don’t worry too much you will loose in the 2 weeks and be a rockstar!
  17. Congrats! Very exciting. I’m scheduled for a sleeve 4/19!
  18. Yes they are the best “bang for your buck” in terms of nutrition etc that taste good. I found the best price on them at BJ’s -good luck with your liver shrinking I’ll be starting mine 4/5
  19. The Fairlife protein shakes are pretty good.
  20. Ugh that sounds rough, my pre op diet allows for one cup of caffeine a day which I’ll gladly take
  21. Hi! I’m in NY would love to have a surgery buddy!
  22. Congrats and welcome! I’m going to be sleeved 4/19, getting past the nerves and into the excitement now.
  23. Yea! Good job! I heard the first few days are the worst so you did great.
  24. Thank you!! Feeling positive!!
