  1. Thanks so much for the encouragement!
  2. Hi all- I’m about 10 hours post op from the sleeve. Experiencing quiet a bit of gas pains, have been walking the hospital halls every 2 hours. Other than that I feel good just very thirsty. I will be allowed water and gas-x tomorrow after my swallow test and then I’ll be released home to take a nice long shower and nap. Continued well wishes to you all!
  3. Congrats! I am scheduled for 4/19 as well. We are almost there!!
  4. I’m about 5 days into my 2 week liquid diet. I was not thrilled to do it, but I have to say it’s not too bad. It’s helping me mentally prepare for what life will be after surgery and I’m down 7lbs from my starting weight of 216 before the liquids. I understand it’s mostly water weight but to see the scale move down is motivating for me. Also my sleep quality has been much better. Also, I don’t want to have a 5th incision if not necessary and I want the best possible recovery as I can have. My doctor told me that he has noticed a difference when people do not follow the plan from those who do. But yea every doctor has their own ways of doing things but where I am in the NYC area this seems to be the norm.
  5. Congrats on a successful surgery- recovery sounded scary but glad you are ok. Wishing you continued success! I’m 11 days away from my sleeve
  6. Hi Donna, congrats on a successful surgery! I know many of us haven’t had our April surgeries yet so maybe you would get better answers if you posted in a general forum? I’m sure it’s fine. Feel better!
  7. Thanks yea I feel like along with a slight headache from cutting out caffeine as well. I was planning on tapering off prior to yesterday but I didn’t and now I’m feeling it. I feel motivated though and excited so I’ll push through! Keep me posted on your outcome I will continue to keep my fingers crossed!
  8. Yes I am! On day 2 of liquids prepping for a 4/19 sleeve surgery. It’s been a little rough dealing with the hunger pains. I’m a little encouraged to read most people have an easier time after that!
  9. I think it’s good news. I have Aetna insurance and they assigned me a nurse after I was approved so I’m thinking they probably wouldn’t give you that resource if they were going to decline you.
  10. Great to hear and congrats! I start my 2 wk liquid diet tomorrow and I’m so nervous
  11. Awesome! Happy for you! Best of luck!
  12. Good luck! It happens, keep us posted on what they say.
  13. I wish my surgeons office had different variations of the diet based on starting weight but I understand it’s easier for them to give one diet to everyone so I will be a good patient and obey. And yes I agree it will be nice to see the scale moving in the right direction before surgery!
  14. It is liquid only unfortunately!!!
  15. Congrats! I’m going in 4/19 starting diet 4/5- best wishes!
  16. Fingers crossed for you!! I hope you get your date! I know you have been working diligently towards it! Keep us posted!
  17. I have never heard of those but I will look them up. Yes, seems like every surgery group has different requirements so you will do great. How long will you be in Turkey before venturing back home?
  18. I bought the quest protein powder in the peanut butter flavor it’s really good and I have purchased the Fairlife ready to drink protein shakes from BJ’s. Whoo hoo 4/19
  19. Absolutely! If you guys want to make a text group I’m in!
  20. Welcome!! 4/19 sleever here from New York. The only issue that I have heard of is if you don’t follow your pre op diet and your liver is too large to move safely to access the stomach. I don’t think that happens often. My medical group told me that in 10 years of doing procedures the only had to do that 14 times. Good luck!! We are hear for you in this group.
  21. Hi there! I’m also 4/19! I’m at 40 bmi with no comorbities but I have to do a 2 week liquid diet- yuck!
  22. Thanks for the thoughtful response. Yes I think the meal prepping in advance is a good idea. I spoke to them and they said they will not be picky with meals and I know they will be understanding. I agree that the less time in the kitchen the better!
