  1. OK, so I comfortably made it through the weekend and am starting day 6 of my pre-op diet. I get banded next monday and can't wait. I only had one bad pre-op diet day and now it kind of feels that I can handle the rest of the week with no problem... keeping fingers crossed. Hope you all have a great day.
  2. Thank you for letting me know that. I had heard that the bruising could happen so I will keep an eye out for it.
  3. That is wonderful. I know how frustrating it is just to have to do all the 6 monthly visits let alone any more. My doctor had recommended this type of surgery as of the beginning of 2007 and I wanted to wait to try and loose it on my own AGAIN. Apparently that didnt work as I put on quite a bit of weight with my back problems and little activity. Crossing fingers for quick response from ins
  4. Oh good even better to know someone did what I have to do. The needle did not look so bad when they showed it to me so it is all in my head.
  5. ok I wasnt sure what others were doing because I had a friend who said 'well I didnt need those'. I wanted to say well maybe he isnt as cautious as my dr is but I let it go. I have to do the Lovenox shot for 7 days, once a day. They are better than the heparin which would have been 3 times a day for 10 days. Lucky me haha
  6. Is there anyone else out there that will have to give themselves blood thinner shots while recovering for a couple of days afterwards?
  7. Good Morning, I am also being banded on the 29th of this month. I am already starting my 5th day of the pre-op plan which for the most part has been ok except on day 3, that was the roughest. I am also in the process of getting rid of all this cold congestion I have to make sure I wont have any issues surgery day. I am 34 years old and live in Tampa. No children or husband. I too also work as a insurance agent for a large insurance company. I wish you the best of luck in your new banding. Once you start your pre-op plan you will see that it isnt so bad and so far I have been 100%
  8. Welcome!!! I am also being banded on the 29th. I am in the middle of my pre-op diet and today was way better than yesterday. I also like the atkins advantage and the myoplex lite.
  9. OK, so I made a concession and decided to take a small piece of the chicken I made for my dinner tonight and ate it with my afternoon protein shake. It shouldnt matter if I ate it now or later or half and half as long as I dont add anything unnecessarily. I do feel a bit better now.
  10. They were ok with you using the gatorade even though it has the higher sugar content?
  11. Thanks so much for the support as I am really struggling.
  12. I get 2 Protein shakes (lunch and bkfast) and then one protein meal with a no carb veggie. I also can have a small serving of cottage cheese with my protein meal since it is also protein. I had a couple of bites just now of the cottage cheese even though I normally eat it later. I thought who cares what part of the day it is. I know I can do this and am at work so I am doing something other than looking at food. I also think if I even considered touching something else those around me would 'kill' me. haha As soon as I get out of work I am gonna go home and walk a bit and read for my class tomorrow. I'll make it an early bed night so I dont eat.
  13. :sad:I am on the 3rd day of my pre-op diet and I am being banded on the 29th but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hungry. I wanna cry and go to bed
  14. Normally I would be concerned about that also but I have been on my pre-op plan for my 3rd day as of today. Normally I get different types of nutrition including bananas which helps with potassium. I figured since I havent had anything but Protein shakes for the last 2 days that is where they are coming from. Anyone else have experience with these as well?
  15. Thanks for that info... any other possible suggestons?
  16. I am starting my 3rd day for pre-op diet and i woke up with leg cramps in middle of night. I am assuming this is from my potassium level and is there anyone else who had/has this problem. What did you do to correct it.
  17. I also am with the same Dr as one of the other posters. I am on my 2nd day of my pre-op plan. I get 2 shakes (bkfast and lunch) and then a Protein meal for dinner. If needed then I can have a 3rd shake as necessary if I am starving. So far so good.
  18. OMG OMG OMG i am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!! My xrays came back and my lungs are CLEARRRRR! I told the nurse I love her and I'll get rid of these cold symptoms I have
  19. Hello all fellow Tampa people, I have created this thread for all of those that have Dr. Dietrick as their surgeon out of Tampa. There are a couple of us out there and I thought this would be a good way to keep in contact and let us know how each other are doing. I know one person has completed there surgery, while 2 or 3 of us are on our pre-op diet. I myself am on my 2nd day of pre-op diet and am scheduled for the 29th for surgery. I had one slight set back as my lungs sounded funny so I am waiting on the results of a 2nd chest xray to make sure there is no issues. Please feel free to post here as you wish.
  20. OK, so today is day 2 of my liquid diet. My first day went a little better than expected and I wasnt overly hungry. I am going to try and plan today to do what I did yesterday in hopes that it helps. Hope everyone else is ok. I think it would be good if we started a Dr. Dietrick thread so we can keep in touch together and maybe find some others.
  21. My only problem is I am short on time. I am scheduled for surgery on the 29th and my previous chest x-ray was fine. It was only because he heard something different with my lungs that he made me have a 2nd one. The results should have been delivered today but claimed they didnt have them as of 12:30 pm. The Dr wont be even be in until tomorrow (thursday) so even if it was delivered later he wont be able to see them until then. I am just more anxious to have this all go right, especially since I am now on my liquid diet.
  22. Thanks for the support. I had my first shake and took FOREVER to drink it. I would say 2 hours would cover it lol.. they said slow right Since it is already 2pm I am doing ok.. I am sure day 2 will be harder. I have a pork chop with cottage cheese and Broccoli for my dinner later. I have not heard anything about my x-ray as when I called them to change a future appt they had not received it. It is important that I make sure they get it today cause even though the Dr wont see it until tomorrow I dont want him to get it tomorrow.
  23. It is memorable for me in a different way. This was the day my insurance approved me
  24. Hey Audrey, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I so need them right now as today is the first day of my pre-op plan. I so far have had my morning shake but still sipping on it hoping it lasts forever. haha.
  25. Thanks, I stopped at walmart after surgeons and got my shakes, juice, etc. It was nice to hear that I can have a 3rd shake if necessary cause I will definitely need it. It was also good to hear that we dont have to do Clear liquids that first week. Will be nice to have some variety.
