  1. So far, I've told dh, my mom, and my supervisor (to get time off approved). Two other people know who have had the surgery. I am debating telling my teen daughters. Dh doesn't think I should...that they won't understand that I've worked for this "tool". I'm still undecided. ~~anne
  2. Probably a silly question: where do you find Greek yogurt? I looked at my local supermarket and didn't see it. Thanks in advance, Anne
  3. That's wonderful! You probably just came off abrasively and out of the blue when you spoke about it the first time. She's had time to think now. Still...be gentle and don't chastise if screw ups happen. You wouldn't want that for you. Hugs, Anne
  4. I know you are pre-band too...but I have thought a lot about sports games AFTER banding. No beer obviously. Have you thought about it? ~~anne
  5. One of my sons lives in Georgia...Ft. Stewart. Surprisingly, he's not into football...he played it but doesn't watch it. I'm probably the #1 sports fan in my family out of the four kids and dh and me. Evansville is AWFULLY close to Kentucky! My bff lives on the Kentucky side further out in the country. She is a Tennessee Titans fan--BIG time. When is your team playing this weekend? U of L played Wednesday (Kansas State) and surprisingly won. I think UK is off this weekend. IU is playing Ball State this weekend where my oldest son's girlfriend attends school...so I'm guessing she's not rooting for IU! Right now, golf is the big topic of conversation in sports locally. The Ryder Cup is in Louisville, KY. The US team is beating the Europeans after day 1! (The US has lost like the last 17 years or something) Go USA! ~~anne
  6. I would love to know what the first show as about as we had HURRICANE damage in INDIANA and lost power from Sunday through Wednesday night! That is one of the few shows I try not to miss (TiVo). For me, it is motivating to watch. I think a personal trainer is a great idea if you can afford one...or my YMCA does a free 12-week program with a trainer for a new membership. ~~anne
  7. It still takes willpower!!!! That's funny that you posted this topic...tomorrow I'm going through my closets and pull out clothes and sort by size to put in storage boxes! I am excited about doing it instead of depressed because I can't wear those clothes anymore . ~~anne
  8. So, you are from Geogia and not a UGA fan? Isn't that like treason or something? I live close to UK, U of L, and IU so I root for whoever is playing locally. The only thing I know about the Vols is that Dave Ramsey is a big fan! Happy Friday everyone! I went to see a movie tonight that was a definite time/money waster--"Burn After Reading". A couple of mildly amusing moments but that was it. I was depressed at the end. I did enjoy some movie popcorn as I understand it can be difficult to eat popcorn post-band. It is something I can do without. ~~anne
  9. I've ordered a sample pack of Unjury and a new scale! I've also been sampling protein drinks. So far, the Atkins tasted "watery" but the EAS carb advantage was pretty good and filling. I'm so excited!

  11. Congratulations! ~~anne

I found Wii Fit on ebay and have it set back for after my surgery (Oct. 22nd). I am also debating waiting until Christmas for a "family" gift. I've heard great things about it! Hope you get your approval soon! ~~anne
  13. Oh yes you are. Fortunately, she's forgiven you. As you begin to lose weight, hopefully, you will spend more time playing with the kids and helping out with them. This will give her more time for herself and possibly energize her to be more active too. I would suggest that at some point you start encouraging activities the family can participate in...without forcing your wife to join you. Also, cook in a healthy way for the family. If you don't already share in the cooking...start (take a class if you need to...or a couples class if you can find one!). Many diabetic centers or hospitals will offer healthy cooking classes. Enjoy your experience...but don't throw it in her face. I have not yet been banded--Oct. 22nd--my dh is over 100 lbs overweight too and I feel he will benefit from MY experience. I have four kids and we've been married for 23 years (married at 17). I was NOT overweight until my marriage and tried to keep up with my dh who was an athlete at the time. Now he is rarely active but we both still overeat. ~~anne
  14. I am trying to figure out the banner and ticker factory thing too! Hmmm.... Here is the link that helped me! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/
  15. I have a date! October 22nd! Insurance has approved it...and now the countdown begins . I still have no new news about my job situation. I wish that didn't have to change. Our area is recovering from hurricane strength winds on Sunday that devastated the community. We were fortunate as we only had roof damage and lost food from our fridge/freezer. We were without power, any type of phone service, and obviously internet for four days. The damage was amazing as the winds snapped light poles in two and huge tree trunks. Some big trees were lifted out of the ground and ended up on top of houses or completely twisted in electric wires. We have power back...but many in our area still don't. Fortunately, the weather has been lovely.

  17. Hi! I am excited to join the group! I am going to be banded October 22nd. It could have been earlier, but I had a mini-vacation planned with my husband the first week of October as he has a business trip in Florida. Now I'm kicking myself because I want the date to be TODAY! lol For those from Kentucky, I am close to Kentucky and will be banded in Louisville at St. Mary's Hospital with Dr. Lusco. Also, hope you were damage free from the hurricane winds. We had roof damage but were VERY blessed. Our neighbors didn't fair as well. Now...I just need to figure out how to do all the countdown and sparkly things! ~~anne
  18. I received insurance authorization paperwork on Saturday in the mail...and then our area had the "wind" from Hurricane Ike...and knocked out our power, landline phone, and cell phone until yesterday. Sadly, it also knocked out the bariatric center because I tried to take it there on Monday to try to schedule something! (can you tell I'm anxious?) The earliest date I could work out is October 22nd...but I am SO looking forward to it! My husband is very supportive. I've told my mother and two co-workers who have been banded...but that's it so far. I have teen daughters that I am hesitating telling...but we'll see. If the time seems right I will. I love the idea of being part of a group who will go through similar things/emotions at the same time. ~~anne Indiana
  19. Probably a question for those who had the band done in Mexico, how soon did you fly? I just received approval and thought I might combine surgery recovery time with a quick vacation. Thanks, Anne
  20. Oooh...good question. I will have the same problem. SOME meds have a liquid available so check with your pharmacist about that idea. ~~anne
  21. So hang in there and wait to see what your surgeon comes up with! :cursing: Ahhh...but what you don't know about me is that I want to know everything NOW...I hate unanswered questions ...my curse in life! Thanks ya'll.
  22. I would bet that pureed corn and celery would be okay. Does anyone know for sure? I'm still praying I get banded and trying to figure all this out. ~~anne
  23. I'm sorry. I can't imagine how bad the PTSD is for these guys who have seen and experienced so much.
  24. Thanks everyone. I just really want a scale that you don't have to step on five times and do a 3/5 analysis. I don't need any bonus features. ~~anne
  25. Hi! I don't think my doctor requires it, but does anyone know what they are looking for when they do a colonoscopy? I understand the upper-GI. Thanks, Anne
