  1. I was banded the 14th of July, and still don't feel great, but each day does get better. Give it more time. I also was surprised to find that I weighed five pounds more after the surgery. I was lucky to have found this site and realized that was normal. The gas will pass  Three days later and I have lost that extra 5 pounds. I also cannot drink milk, and went with Soy milk. It tastes great. I add chocolate soy protein and have a delicous chocolate shake.
  2. I live in Michigan, and have BCBS. I had a BMI of 35, and two comorbidities, sleep apnea and acid reflux. They approved my surgery. Just had it on 14 July.
  3. Dr. Bout at Port Huron repaired a hernia I didn't know I had. Excellent facility! So happy I went there. Wonderful people that are very caring and supportive. (Surgery 7/14/2008) Cindy
  4. I was banded the 14th of July, two days ago. I had popsicles in the hospital. They are so soothing. I think you are right about the protein. I know you do NOT want to keep getting sick. Good luck with the change, hopefully that will do it and you will feel much better.
  5. I had my surgery in Port Huron. They have a lap band center there and were so very good at educating and briefing before the surgery, and afterwards. Since My Health Care paid for it, I don't know about the cost. I am very happy I had it done, and wish I could have done this earlier. I would check to make sure Harper has a good education center for the lapband. The assistance/follow up/dietician support would make a big difference after the surgery.
  6. I had my lapband surgery yesterday, and was looking for advice/experiences. So far I seem to be having a very good start. No gas pains (yet), and very little pain. I am very bloated, and I had started a weight sheet. After I read some people gained after the surgery, I immediately went and weighed myself. Sure enough, there was a five pound increase. I am so glad there were people already on line who had experienced this and talked about it. I would have been so upset. Thanks for the wonderful posts that are making my surgery recovery so much easier.
