While it seems to be more of a blood pressure issue, if you've gone from liquids straight to soft foods, you may benefit for a week or two doing pureed foods as a transition to soft foods, even if it isn't part of your plan.

Thank you so much!! It means a lot to hear that after such a long journey struggling with weight my whole life. Here’s a few before and afters including a tiktok I made but never posted haha.

I’ve been very lucky with having minimal loose skin. I have been taking a collagen supplement daily and started that months before the surgery. I think that combined with a good strength training regimen and perhaps also because I got the surgery at a relatively young age (33) helped.

For workouts I do an hour 5-6x a week; half cardio (indoor cycling or running) and half strength training. All of my strength has been the peloton strength classes. If you happen to have a peloton membership You can see my full program on my profile DucesWild, follow me!! Highly highly recommend peloton it has made it so much easier, convenient, and fun to workout. Finding classes I actually enjoyed and not pushing myself too hard, just committing to staying consistent moving my body, whether it be a walk or yoga on days I didn’t feel well, that has been the KEY so far. Hope this helps! Happy to share more details.

You look amazing. You also don't seem to have a lot of loose skin. Congrats for achieving your goal. Do you have a before pic for comparison?
Also would love to learn of your physical activity/exercise routine whenever you have time to share.

Just want to say waist training and Corseting are two different things. You can absolutely be 100% healthy and not lose muscle tone while training or Corseting. With that said, if you are waist training it is latex like a compression garmet. Talk to your Dr. Sometimes they are recommend after some surgery's. But only your Dr can tell you whats right. Corseting, since it is more rigid, I would definitely wait before putting one back on and wait till I am completely healed. Also, Real Corsets are expensive, wait till you are at your goal to start purchasing them they are a real investment and spending that kind of money for something you can only fit for a month is a waist.

It's the ridiculous (in my opinion) fad where women/girls wear tight corsets to have an unnaturally narrow waist. Didn't we learn anything in the 19th century? Bring on the fainting couches.

I’m so excited for you! It has been by far THE BEST thing I have ever done for myself and completely life changing. I remember before I started looking at inspo pictures and thinking I’d be happy just getting halfway to where they were…I set my goal for 140 and still can’t believe I was able to hit it and surpass it in 7 months. The time has flown by.

Best advice I can give is be Consistent with the Protein, Vitamin, and Water goals, move your body 5x a week even if it’s just a walk, and be easy on yourself! The scale fluctuates so I only checked once a week and that helped me from mentally spiraling when I’d hit stalls (which will happen). Best of luck and keep me posted! Happy to stay in touch along the journey.

Also I think the pre op diet is probably the hardest part of the whole journey so just stick to it even when you don’t feel motivated and know that in the blink of an eye you’ll be past it and it will all be worth it.

I am down to 130lbs (-70lbs) at 7 months post op! I've gone from a size 12 to 2 and expect to be in maintenance now. Weight loss has definitely flatted out, but I am SO happy with where I'm at now. If I can keep myself at the current weight, I'd be a happy camper! How are you doing?!

If the excessive sweating remains a problem you should ask your dr about oxybutinin. It’s an incontinence drug but a side effect is decreased sweating. I have to take it because the sweating was so bad with Wellbutrin. Seriously. It works though. Also, decreasing the Wellbutrin dose. I was able to get away with a slightly lower dose and with the oxybutinin I dont Sweat right out of the shower anymore.

TheRealPennyD reacted to hsalt in 3rd December surgery coming up fast..
    Hi everyone,

My surgery is creeping up fast and I’m starting to feel a little nervous.
I’ve been reading on what to eat and what to avoid post surgery and it’s a little scary thinking about somethings you will never be able to eat again, or always taking tablets, rarely consuming alcohol, possible complications….
I’m sure most people get to this stage pre-surgery.
So far I’ve been nothing but excited for my surgery and a second chance at life and treating my body well.

Just wondering from those that have had surgery if they have any tips, advice on how they managed leading up to surgery and how it has been since?
How was the purée stage and how long until you could socialise with people without being questioned about how slow or little you’ve eaten?
Also I know it says alcohol on special occasions, so just wondering how people cope with alcohol since surgery?

I’ve also decided not to tell people and just have the support from my partner who has been amazing. He is fully supportive. I just don’t want alot of critical people trying to tell me I shouldn’t do it or shouldn’t have done it?

Hugely appreciate any help and guidance :)

    Thanks :)

2 months post-op, down 40lbs from starting weight!
Sticking to Water and Protein goals Exercising ~5x a week, cardio and STRENGTH TRAINING! Past self,
THANK YOU for doing this for your future self. Thank you for taking the before pictures, even though it was painful. On the days when I can't see the physical change in myself (even if the scale is moving) looking back to these really show me how far I've come already.

So I lost a lot of weight on my own before I consulted with the surgeon for the first time (around 50 lbs). Between my consult and the day of surgery (about 10 or 11 weeks later) I lost another 20 lbs. My BMI the day of surgery was around 37. I’ve lost over 40 lbs since surgery 10 weeks ago and my BMI is currently a 29. I did go to that calculator and it estimated my weight at 1 year to be about 17 lbs less than where I am today - so know that is just an estimate and dependent on many other factors.

I can't answer from my own personal experience because I started with a BMI over 60 and had gastric bypass. But I can offer you a link to a calculator that will tell you the average weight loss at 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years:
    https://mbsc.arbormetrix.com/Registry/public/calculator/uiCalculator/7?menuId=1013
Enter your data and click the disk icon on the top right of the page to see your expected weight loss. Note that the numbers they give are averages, so your personal results could be significantly higher or lower, but I still think it's useful information to get a ballpark estimate.
