Calling all February 2009 bandsters! What should we call ourselves?
I voted for the valentines. I'm a guy and not sure I want to be a fox!!

how long do I have to starve before lapband
I'm on my pre-op right now and I will tell you it's not ideal, my idea of a great food day isn't 4 carnation instant breakfasts, an apple, some grapes and 4 oz. of chicken for dinner, but I will tell you, I'm not starving, I don't feel hunger pains, and my bmi is around 47, so I'm definitely accustomed to a lot of food.

It was nice meeting everyone! Thanks everyone for answering my questions! Yelena called me today, i'm not sure why, but I'm fairly certain she wants my money (the $550). Jennifer told me I could bring it to my pre-op appt. on the 27th, hopefully that's still the case, if not, hopefully Yelena can wait to get it until friday. Otherwise the people at visa might come break my thumbs before I even get to have surgery!

Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
I'm... not sure if I'm still coming. I'm on my pre-op diet, and I have an appointment at 1 p.m. for the results of the sleep study. So I'd be in the area all day ( i live on the south shore) so I'd be walking around all day with my pre-cooked dinner, 4 packs of carnation instant breakfast, trying to find 8 oz. of 1% milk. Though... I wonder if the cafeteria has some...

February '09 bandsters?
Did your surgeon give you amount you need to lose before surgery? it was my understanding that the pre-op diet was to shrink the liver, and that can happen if you drop weight or not. Also, have you measured yourself? Sometimes inches are a better barometer of what's going on in your body than the number on the scale. Either way, I know five pounds doesn't sound like too much, but, I always like to think of other things that weigh five pounds, like a half gallon bucket of paint. Those suckers are heavy, and I always feel better when I put one of those down, and that's kind of what you did, you had 5 lbs of weight on you that you just put down and started walking around with out. Not sure if you're a visual person like I am, but when I get discouraged, I always think of something like that to help me realize that 5 lbs is a big amount, so CONGRATS!

Yeah Dr. Vernon books up long in advance, if you're still looking for a surgeon I suggest Dr. Robinson, I had an appointment two weeks after I called and asked for one, but whoever you go with I'm sure you'll have a great and positive experience!

Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
I'm really looking forward to tuesday I didn't know everyone would be there, this will be my first support group meeting and the last one offered before I have surgery so I'm excited to see what it's like, and hopefully seeing so many people who have had successful surgeries will quell my fears a bit about the surgery.

Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital
I went to the info session in october and that's what helped me make the decision to go with Dr. Robinson, He'll be putting my band in me in february and honestly, he's a great guy and a great doctor even if he is kind of quiet and reserved. But his assistant Jennifer is great, always returns messages in a very timely manner and knows what she's talking about, she's an invaluable resource.

Any February 2009 Bansters?
I'm being banded on February 4th! Can't wait. I was nervous too, but in the Post Op section of the forums they have a large post where people post about their surgery day experiences, i find when I get nervous, reading those experiences calm me down a lot!

I also have a long commute to get to the doctor i want to see, but it's worth it, i feel so comfortable with him I'd travel two hours to have him perform the surgery. congrats on starting this journey!

what is sliming and pb?
Hello, i'm about 3 weeks pre-op and poking around I've seen a lot of people talking about sliming and "pb" and I can't figure out for the life of me what they mean by this. Could someone explain in detail what these actions are?
