They are all different...ask them how long to expect each time. They'll be your best source.

And a warning! You'll be going to your surgeon frequently during the first year...once you're cleared post op you'll be going up to once a month for a while (or more, depending...for fills, check ups, etc)

Very exciting that you're on your way but make sure the distance won't keep you from going to get your fills etc.

I think you have to call the doctors office and see if he runs on time. My first appointment with the surgeon, I waited over 3 hours. Their explanation was the doctor talks with you and answers all questions to your satisfaction. My fills appts are usually in & out in 15 minutes. I have seen the surgeon only once 14 days after surgery. Every doctors ofice is always diferent. You have to remember if they have support groups you mighthave to travel then too. I only have 30 minutes to my doctor.

I also have a long commute to get to the doctor i want to see, but it's worth it, i feel so comfortable with him I'd travel two hours to have him perform the surgery.

congrats on starting this journey!

That is kind of what I am worried about. I am in the first stages of deciding and if i do this it will probably be in Detroit and I am from Canada, so the trip is at least 2 hours. Will I have to see the surgeon after or will I be able to see my doctor in Canada?
