    Hair loss help?

    Thank you so much! ❤️
  2. I'm 10 months post op, and I can eat anything in moderation. I'm also a pizza lover, and before my surgery I was so upset that I'd never get to eat it again. Currently 142lb down, and can confirm I have not had to say goodbye to pizza 😁 You'll learn what you can handle as you go through your journey, you don't have to rule out everything you enjoy.

    No dumping?

As others have said, not everybody experiences dumping, or not in the way you've been warned. I was terrified of dumping, I'd heard the horror stories of the pain, sweating, sickness etc. I avoided sugar like the plague. Eventually I decided I needed to just try it to see what happens so I was prepared. I was so scared of accidentally causing it while I was out or in work or somewhere I couldn't go and lie down and wait for it to pass. So I tried it, I ate some chocolate. Sat there and waited...nothing happened. I have realised however, that if I do have sugar, a few hours later I get periods of lightheadedness, like I'm going to pass out when I stand up. From what I've read this is dumping, it's just not the dumping I expected. So you may never experience any kind of dumping, or you may get it in ways you weren't expecting. I'd say just be careful and don't be tempted by things once you realise they don't affect you how you'd expected.
  4. Hi all! I‘m hoping to get some help/advice around if anybody has found anything helpful for hair loss after surgery? I’m 10 months post op gastric bypass surgery, and 142lbs down (still crazy to say). I feel amazing, so happy with these results, but the one thing that’s getting me down is the hair loss. From what I’d read, a lot of people find this stops/slows down after 6 months, but I’m 10 months in and seeing no sign of improvement. My post op blood tests are normal, so there’s nothing wrong in that regard. I currently take high strength biotin, zinc and selenium. I’ve been on these for a few months but again, no improvement. I know it may seem a minor thing in the grand scheme of things, but I’d just love my hair to be long and healthy, so I’m willing to try anything. If anybody has any experience in this area, or found anything that helped, please let me know I’d really appreciate it!!
  5. This helped a lot, thank you so much!
  6. I’m just under 5 weeks post op, and feeling very defeated. I’m just now starting to go into solid foods, soft solid foods though, and I have days where I can’t stomach much at all, but my weight loss is very slow. In total, including the pre-op diet I’ve lost 48lbs which is great, but around 27lb was from the pre-op diet. I read somewhere online that the average per week lost after gastric bypass was between 5-15lbs, and I’m definitely not getting anywhere near that, but then 15lb a week does sound crazy to me. It’s disheartening that I lost so much before surgery, but since surgery I feel like it’s been much slower, even though I can’t be getting any more than 800kcals a day, most days much less. Has anybody else experienced slow weight loss this early? Did it speed up? Was there anything you found helped?
  7. I’m hoping I’m not alone with this, or someone has some kind of advice. I had a gastric bypass and I’m now up to the puréed stage of the diet, but I’m really struggling. The food itself causes no issues, it’s the thought of the food that I can’t handle. Every time I think of puréed food, what I can eat, that I need to eat, anything to do with it, I feel so nauseous. I never had this issue with the liquid stage, it’s just the puréed stage, and because of the nausea I’m not eating enough. Has anybody else experienced this? If so what did you do? Is it just a case of forcing food down when I can and getting through this stage? I know it’s a bad idea to rush to the soft food stage but at this point I’m considering it because the nausea is driving me insane and I don’t want to end up ill. Any help would be seriously appreciated!
