nothing wrong with having a Protein Shake for breakfast. I know several bariatric patients who've had those for breakfast for years because they can't stomach solid food first thing in the morning.

I still drink a Protein Shake every morning (Fairlife chocolate for me, tastes like chocolate milk).
But you could make a scrambled egg, just don't overcook it so it gets all hard and chewy. Or perhaps a little Cream of Rice in a cup of chicken broth (kind of like congee if you get the proportions just so). Or "not refried" Beans puréed with a little of their broth and some onion and chile, if you want something a little heartier.

Yeah, my go-to on weekdays is a 30-gram ready make shake (either Ensure or Premier Protein). The increased Protein (Carnation is 13g) would help keep you full. I drink mine around 7:30 and don't start to feel any hunger until 11.
If you need something else, like a small snack to get you through to lunch, I would get Breakstones cottage cheese (comes in an individual package like yogurt does) or individual servings of plain Greek yogurt (you could add some of the Carnation powder to it to increase protein and make it tastier).

The first thing I tried was scrambled eggs. But even at 7 months out my go to is premiere Protein Shake caffe latte. It fills me up till lunch. I’m not sure carnation instant Breakfast has as much Protein in it. If not you could add extra Protein Powder or switch to Protein Shakes.

I'm not sure what country you're in. In the US, we have Fairlife Nutrition Plan that tastes like chocolate milk. Or, you can mix whatever brand of Protein Shake (I don't like the powders, only the premixed shakes) with coffee. I use about 5.5 oz of Protein shake with 11 oz of cold Decaf coffee (I can't have real coffee for a month yet). Only helps if you like coffee! I'm drinking that right now, as a Breakfast.

Throw it right back to them. Say "why do you ask?"
They say- because you look so great, so thin, so healthy.
You say- thank you! And how are YOU feeling??

It can be a fun cat and mouse game. And frankly, pressuring you is rude and NYB (Not your business.)

I'm generally pretty sarcastic and also don't like these types of personal questions....so I say things like..
'You know...no one would ever tell me I was fat when I was fat...but now that I've lost weight...everyone wants to let me know how fat I used to be. Weird huh' Or something like that...and no one asks me again after that lol.

My responses are pretty similar to everyone else. When asked how much I usually say "a lot" or "more than I weigh." If they insist on a number I just say "more than 100 lbs." When they ask how I say "a lot of hard work" or "complete lifestyle change." When they ask about diet, it's "high Protein, low carb, small portions." And for those people that insist, "one donut isn't going to hurt you," I say, "no thank you, I broke my sugar addiction and I'm never going back there...I know what it does to me!"

I was sleeved on 9/7 and have had a phenomenal recovery! I have no issues with any food, reflux, pain etc. My mind is trying to play tricks on me and tell me that because I'm not suffering and can eat and drink without issue that maybe this isn't going to work for me. I do feel some restriction with food but not with fluids. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance that other people have recovered like I have and gone on to be successful in losing the weight. I have 70 pounds to get to my goal. TIA! ❤️

You've lost almost 100 lbs. in 6 months, and if your profile is correct, 13 lbs. from your goal of 160 lbs. By the six month mark, the average lost 30 to 40% excess weight... I would be ecstatic. Stalls are frustrating but looking at the whole picture, I would say you're doing better than the average.

You've lost 95 pounds in six months and you think that's slow? How much were you expecting to lose by now? I'm not trying to be snotty; I'm seriously asking why you're devastated rather than thrilled.

No, lettuce does not expand in your stomach. I never heard such rubbish. When lettuce gets wet, it WILTS. Especially in the presence of stomach acid.
I had salad for lunch today - one of those ready-packed salads, so a small portion. Probably two cups of greens, mostly iceberg lettuce. I know that iceberg and romaine work OK for me. I was able to eat the entire salad, and I added a hard-boiled egg to it cause there wasn't enough chicken in it.
And for dinner, I'd made lamb stew. I was able to eat only 2 oz of lamb, one slice of carrot, and a half-slice of parsnip. No, I did not stretch my sleeve out eating lettuce for lunch.
I'm thrilled to find out lettuce works as a slider for me. I love salad, and I love growing lettuce. There are so many kinds to grow that you never see in stores. They're beautiful, and tasty, and have names like "Frizzy Haired Drunken Woman" and "Flashy Troutback".

I'm better now. Ive read so much that im on sleeve overload. Started getting worried about tracking my macros and will i stick with the plan. Reread my booklet from my surgeon etc and they focus on fluids and 60gm Protein. So that simplified it for me. 32 year recovering opiate addict so I'm really happy to read that you didnt require narcotics for pain. Huge relief!
Tomorrow I'll pack and make a vat of chili so my husband doesn't have to cook and can just with me.
I drank almost an entire 2 liter of Pepsi today. I'm really really going to miss that poison!
    Keep in touch!

I had WLS 1 1/2 years ago and have been since diagnosed with dry mouth, which causes teeth erosion and cavities. I didn't have it before the surgery. I lost one molar (it just cracked in half) three months ago and have had more cavities than I ever had before. My dentist said that I will have a challenging time (and will spend a lot of money) trying to keep my remaining teeth.

Settled right in your shoulder? It's the CO2 they used to inflate your belly during surgery. If you have someone there with you, have them burp you as they would a baby, only harder. This too shall pass (i couldn't resist!) Thanks for the update!

I was nervous that I would do the surgery and everyone would know I did it and I would still fail yet again. Of course I didn’t. I have lost 54 pounds and still losing slowly but surely. It’s normal to have reservations though.

Hi Leslie, welcome to BP. I have been on the emotional rollercoaster (my surgery is in... uh... 36 hours) and it is totally normal. But honestly, finding this site has been a lifeline for me, I would almost certainly have chickened out otherwise.
