    Love this NSV.
For me - gone are the days of panicking when a waiter starts to show my family to a booth, rather than a table where I can push my chair back as far as I need. Some of the most public embarrassment I've faced during my life as a person with obesity.
  2. Congrats!

Me too. My partner has a disability so I would get his food and then go back for my own. Never, ever be seen carrying two at once. Now, meh, who cares, not me.

I can relate to the seating issues. I work in a high school and last year (I had my RNY 6/22) I had to SQUEEZE in and out of the desks and HATED it. I felt like every time I stood up all the kids were watching and judging (high Schoolers that could've cared less). I had to push my way out. Now I get in and out so easy! Again, the students could care less.

I have to admit fitting into a size 14 that I haven't been able to wear since the 90's was quite thrilling and shocking. I am surprised that I keep getting surprised. They were cute too and in the clearance aisle at Target.

I thought of another… The elevator at work used to jump up an inch to accommodate my weight when I stepped on. No more. 😃

NSV so far this year: I wore my boots first time since early November and they fit big, I'm finally out of the morbidly obese classification and I fit into a size 14 jeans that I have not worn in over 4 years.

I took my kids to the Water park this weekend and we all had a great time there. Guess who was on the slides and joined them on almost all the rides. It was so much fun and my kids were super excited that daddy can finally join the fun. That on its own made the WLS and the whole journey worth it.

I went to a theme park twice last week & fit in every ride! & not gonna lie, I also compared my saftey bar w other people's & was surprised to see mine go lower/tighter than the people who sat next/near me.
I'm especially proud since I had issues fitting in some of these rides at this exact theme park years ago

    Here is a fun one!
So, I have always been super fat so when it came to food in public I would over think things.
For example: If we went to a serve yourself place (buffet, wedding, event, etc) I would NEVER bring back extra food or an extra plate for my wife or anyone I was with. I didn't want to be "the fat girl with 2 plates". Or, if we went somewhere with assigned seating, I would always get the pick of the seat I wanted, hoping to be an end seat so I can overflow into the isle... OK OK You get the point.
We went to a Broadway show (Beetlejuice- was awesome, different conversation) and when I went to pick my seat my wife said "Nope you are smaller than me now, I want that seat" HAHA I didn't think much of it.
But, then this weekend we were at an all inclusive resort which had like a late night snack grab and go thing. I said I was going to see what they had to get a snack and my wife says "bring me back something"... I did... 2 PLATES!
THAT'S RIGHT, THAT'S THE NSV! HAHA I carried 2 plates of food back from the self serve bar and didn't even hesitate.
Funny but a NSV for me, none the less!!!

Yes! I had a blue handbag in storage which, even with the strap extended as long as it could, would sit waaaay too close to my armpit pre-surgery. Now it sits at my hip. The downside is that it's spent SO long in storage the faux leather is starting to disintegrate. The NSV that got away!

I love a cross body handbag. My NSV is having to shorten the strap because the bag hangs way to low now that my back is so much thinner.

Yes! And not just wearing it, but wrapping it around yourself. At my previous slimmest, I could just get into his jeans, now they fall off me! 😀

Something that recently hit me: I am noticeably smaller than my partner. I'm not the big woman with a skinny guy anymore, I'm officially the little spoon. It's such uncharted territory, and I love that I'm getting to experience it!

I think you are trying very hard to invoke an emotional response. I will walk away from this now. I was being sincere in suggesting it because you said you are devastated in your OP. I am so sorry you took it as an attack. Best of luck.

I received a call from my surgeon's office stating my surgery was pushed back to my original date March 22nd. I was so prepared to have the surgery on the 1st. Now I have to prepare myself to go through pain for my birthday which is March 26th.

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op from gastric sleeve surgery and everything is going great. I'm following the protocol to the letter and gradually losing weight. Saturday night my significant other and myself took my two nephews to dinner. I was able to order a bowl of soup/broth with no issues. During the course of dinner I used a spoon and took a taste of the queso that my nephews had ordered. My significant other then proceeded to lecture me about food choices. I told her that soft cheese was ok on my current protocol. This didn't seem to make much difference to her. It sort of hurt my feelings but I didn't say anything. Am I overreacting or should I be thankful that I have someone watching over me so carefully. She has been 100% supportive of me in all ways. I just guess I felt like it was unnecessary for anything to be said at all. It's not like I wolfed down a basket of chips and ate the whole bowl of queso. I was kind of proud of myself as I thought "wow...that's the least amount of queso I've ever eaten in my life!

Surely all that food should be kept in your lunch room or kitchenette not in the open working office space?? I understand having a few Snacks at your desk for your personal nibbling (we all do that) but this sounds like day long party eating. I worked in an office where the lead would have an informal catch up team meeting with morning tea in her pod. And another office that regularly held lunches & morning teas to Celebrate or recognise just about any event you could think of or create. But once everyone had eaten the food was packed away. You could go into the lunch room to snack on a leftover if you wanted. If people bought in a home cooked treat it was kept in the lunch room too with an open invitation to help yourself. People would grab a coffee & pick up the treat & go back to their desk.
Unfortunately, you can’t stop what others choose to eat but is there any way to influence where that eat it or where it’s stored or shared??

Summermoose reacted to The Greater Fool in When a neighbor you don't know comments about your weight loss
At about 4am when I was doing one of my morning runs, a police car pulled up and stopped about 30 yards away, then turned on his lights and over his megaphone started sharing how proud he was of my losing weight so well, that he'd been watching me these months, and was personally invested in my success...
    At 4am. Over the megaphone.
This went on for about a minute when the police academy on the street was starting their morning run, and over the megaphone he told them to congratulate me and shake my hand, so about 25 cadets ran over and did just that.
    At 4am. Over the megaphone.
    Thanks officers.

I just got ID’d to enter a restaurant that becomes a bar late at night. I told the security guy he must be new since I’m there 3x/week. He said no. He took a look at my ID and still marked my hand as underage.

    I’m 34 years old!!! Apparently I look younger now haha 😂 🤣😂

I tell the truth. I'm a pretty open and honest person, and I don't care what they think of me. I am not a good liar and I just think for me it would be much harder to try to come up with some other story.

If someone asks I will tell them because maybe they are looking for answers for their problem too or someone they love. I had 2 people tell me that they had a gastric bypass 10 years before. l had always known them thin so I was surprised to learn that they had had a bypass, but also encouraged by that too. I mean they have both kept they weight of for 10 years!! These two ladies are the reason I got started on the path of weight loss. So if some one asks me I will tell them truthfully.

I decided quite early on just to be completely honest if asked directly. It’s made everything a lot easier really, no need to remember who I told what etc.
To be honest, not a lot of people have had the guts to really ask! I can often see people itching to ask but never offer up the information just like that. I kinda enjoy watching them squirm like that 🤣
Telling people about it has never really felt awkward to me. I don’t feel ashamed of having had WLS and I’ve gained a lot of self confidence since 💕
