I was back to work in 7 days. I have a desk job and no physical requirements other than sitting on my ass. I did make sure I got up atleast hourly and took a 10 minute walk around the office and warehouse to keep things moving. I did wear compression stockings for a couple weeks after I started back to work.

Something appears to be off. I assume you are weighing and tracking your food accurately? Guessing can lead to being way off.

Pretty basic really. Clear Protein, Protein Shakes, Bone Broth with protein, chicken or beef broth, Water, gatorade zero, sugar free pudding or Jello, pretty much it....

start stocking up on Protein powders like Premeir Protein. You will go through a lot of that between pre op diet and after surgery. I would also stock up on Bone Broth for sipping that first couple weeks after surgery. It goes down nice and has protein in it. A nice break from plain Water.

I am 2 weeks post surgery and I just have not focused on food at all. I don't think about what I cannot have or what I miss. I am laser focused on drinking my required amount of Water, doing my walking of atleast an hour a day even if I have to break it up over 2 sessions and finally, focusing on the good...the weight that is lost. It is motivating to me to see the weight falling off. I am losing about 8 pounds a week since the surgery after I lost almost 20 in the pre surgery diet. I don't want to ruin that so I focus on anything and everything I can except food. Besides, I cannot eat hardly anything without restriction, so it all works out. Focus on the FUTURE and get away from the past food etc.

Day 2 after surgery. 1st night home. I had a lot of nausea and struggle to sleep much at all. I have pain at a 2 or 3 out of 10, so bearable. Just cannot shake the nausea, hopefully it passes soon. Have fallen short on liquids but will get better today for sure. I am an avid walker but for some reason walking has given me calf pain, maybe because I am walking is socks vice walking sneakers…who know, just weird.

If you are taking all your Protein as recommended, you should be seeing an increase in energy. That said, you are probably like me on an 800 calorie diet so it is not like there is a whole lot of energy to be had in there. Keep taking your protein and Vitamins and you will start to feel better.

You want to make sure your stay hydrated if nothing else because dehydration = Constipation and if you're already constipated, that'll just make it worse.

Tony B - NJ got a reaction from FLPhoenix in One week post-op — feeling hunger
I am also a week out, 8/31/21 surgery. Relax for a bit! You will be fine. It is too early to feel restriction or decrease in hunger etc. your stomach is beat up right now with being pulled, cut, stapled and abused. What you are feeling is probably just the recovery process. Focus on drinking fluids and walking. There is a mental part of this journey which you may need to discuss with someone on what may be triggering the feelings you are having. Maybe it is something else that is making you think you are hungry? Also what helps me is hot Bone Broth which satisfies my “hunger’ and fills my sleeve. I started puréed foods today and cannot even eat a can of tuna, so it is not “hunger” in my view. Hang in there.

I cannot even imagine eating 10 ounces of anything. Your problem is fairly obviously too many calories and not enough exercise. Go out and walk for an hour a day, get rid of that cycle thing unless you do that AND walk. Use a calorie tracking app, Any one of them will work. Weigh every food item and know the calories.

I wonder if after 10 ounces of food per meal if your sleeve is not stretched out and not useful any longer

I had the same experience recently. I went to try on clothing and tried on an XL and it was too big. I am now in a large from a 2X and it is very motivating! Now I am motivated to get into a medium for the first time in over 30 years.

Just keep focus and remember that the surgery is a tool. No different than a shovel or a hammer. You have to do all the other stuff like drinking a ton of Water, walking every single day, getting the Protein you need and taking Vitamins. On top of that, and maybe even more important is the mental part of it. If you are one who craves and dreams about food all the time it is going to be a rough slog. You have to figure out how to beat the mental part of it if that is something that is an issue. I never had that, I just see the weight coming off and it motivates me to do more. Don't be afraid to reach out for mental help through a counselor or similar if you need it.

Tony B - NJ got a reaction from HBZK in Post-op diet question
You are 5 weeks post op so I imagine you should be able to get more down than that. Are you holding off on drinking Water before you sit to eat? Are you taking very, very small bites of food? Maybe if you are on soft or regular diet you should step back to puree and it may help a little. You may just not be healed as much as you should.
