    Hi!
I'm 3 months out and so far I'm doing pretty good! I Think I am a slow loser, compared to some, but, I am losing steadily and I am happy with that! At my 3 month post-op, I was told I'm doing really well.

Alright, y'all, I'm 6 weeks post-op and feel great! I've had a very smooth recovery, and am truly grateful for that. Two weeks ago, I got an update from my dietician about week 4 & 5 phases, including suggested meal schedules and calorie intake. I was a little lower than her goals, but figured I was close enough that over the course of the 2 weeks I would get there. Today I got the week 6 & 7 guidelines and I'm realizing I'm further "behind" than I thought I was. Her guidelines include 3-4 meals a day, 3-4oz each, with an overall 1,200 a day caloric intake (70g Protein goal). I'm still sitting at 800-900 calories with 2 meals a day and a Protein Shake or two, which does allow me to hit my protein goal every day. However, if I try and up my meals to 3 a day, I feel super full and uncomfortable most of the day, and then struggle to get all my fluids in because I'm so full. Then, if I skip the shake to compensate, I don't come close to my protein goal.
On top of that, I'm struggling with the mental piece of wanting to "ride the wave" of not being hungry as long as I can. Its so tempting to say, well I'm not hungry so I might as well make the best of it and not eat while I can get away with it! Weight loss will never be easier than it is right now... blah blah blah. I realize that's unhealthy, borderline disordered thinking and I recognize it and I'm working on it. Just adding it in there for context, that this is super freaking hard!
I have an email out to my dietician, but would also love some personal experience on how to up intake when you're not hungry and additional/bigger meals is still difficult. Is it even that big of a deal to keep pace with my program, or will it all sort of work out in the end? I do NOT want to slip back into extreme restriction type behaviors, I want to do this properly and in a way that creates a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. Any advice to that end is welcome!

I know! That's why the "just push food around your plate, no one will notice" thing won't work for me! I'm not sure why my restriction is so great, but I am not complaining!

Chicabo, how many grams of Protein does your doctor want you to have?? New whey makes a liquid Protein that comes in a 3.8 oz bottle that has 42 grams of Protein, 2 carbs, and NO sugars. Mix it with a liter of Water and sip on it all day long. Then have a powder Protein shake in the morning and one in the evening and boom u got 82-87 grams of protein!!! GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!!!!!

Hi! I'm also 7 days post op! I'm still on full liquid diet and I can feel everything that god down as well. Sometimes it's painful, if the sip are not small enough or if they are to soon close together, so I just slow down and the pain is tolerable. I get full from Fluid after about 1 ounce and if i wait a few minutes, it's fine. I just sip 4-6 pounce over a period of 15 to 60 minutes depending upon what it is. I have notice today, I cant get it down in less time. if I take it slow. I hardly ever feel hungry and I'm taking the fluid in because I need to.

Just had a gastric bypass on Oct 7th. Recovery is going very well. Still not hungry. I have been getting my liquids and Proteins down. I just have pain from my one incision where they removed my gallbladder with a huge gallstone in it. I walk everyday even though its painful but i know i have to stay strong for recovery. 👍🏾😌

    Hi Folks!
Today I am 5 days post op (Sleeve on 10/1). I was discharged Sunday night, reluctantly, but discharged I was. Fluid intake was and still has been difficult. While my abdominal area heals and my stomach inflammation goes down, introducing liquid is painful. When I say it’s a JOB to meet the 60g Protein/64oz Fluids goal I’m not lyin! Where’s my check!?!? Lol
The gas has finally started moving and thank the lord I managed a poop 🤷🏽‍♀️ Today. Everyday gets a little easier. The more I get up and move the more I see improvements. I don’t have a ton of energy yet, but I know it’ll come.

Those prepping or you fortunate ones with very little prep, keep your head in the game. Nerves are normal and this is about taking care of YOU. Sure, there will be moments when you wonder “what in the **** did I do!?!”, but it’s a scattered thought and won’t stick around.

I was a nervous comedian down to the last drop of happy juice that knocked me out. I had the entire OR Prep floor rolling. My husband kept telling me to shut up because me on drugs is NSFW. 😂😂😂
Anyway … good luck. And quick question. Anyone else find it easier to sleep sitting up post op? If so, how long did it last?
Picture of 3 of my 4 pups at my side since I got home.

Hey Folks! I’m 1 day post-op for the sleeve. I lost 121lbs on my own as a personal goal leading up to surgery and now the healing stages begin.

I'm definitely uncomfortable, but my pain is being managed while I’m here at the hospital. I haven’t progressed to anything beyond drinking Water yet as the inflammation is causing my stomach to be very painful with intake still.

Everyone’s journey is different, but I certainly wanted to hop on and share a little of what mine is going like. It’s getting better, just a bit slower on the healing side of things than I had hoped.

Hello everyone , I had a revision from VSG to Roux-en-Y on October 1st. I just made it home from
The hospital no complications . The first day is painful but today I’m feeling a little better .

It’s not as bad as I was expecting but I asked to walk right out of surgery and basically walked every 2 hours which helped a lot with the gas pain !

    Good luck everyone!

Mine is confirmed for October 27, 2021 for a duodenal switch, I had a gastric sleeve back in October 24 2018. Went from 360 to 215. I had a good run with it but ended up in the icu for 18 days due to COVID and nearly dying and became limited in mobility. I had such bad complications and I still do but more manageable. My body aches are so bad than when I was overweight. My Dr.’s don’t want to do another sleeve because the likelihood of gaining the weight back is greater again, whereas the duodenal switch is more effective, luckily my gastric doctor handles both and is excellent! I can’t wait, just nervous about the Vitamin deficiency though 😰 good luck to you all!
