This is my goal. I was a strongman before and while I don't anticipate that's going to be part of my life any longer, I do love being strong. Can't wait till I can touch a barbell again. Two and a half more weeks... two and a half more weeks... argh!

So this is a truly random one... my eyebags have gone. Like almost completely. I'm not sure if it's because I'm sleeping better, or because my face skin is "pulling" differently, and I really was not expecting that as an NSV, but I will 100% take it!

Awesome!! Now comes the hardest part... the pre-op requirements and the pre-op liver-shrinking diet. But you've got this!

Another voice adding to Jaelzion's statement. I'm 3.5 weeks out and can take normal sips and normal bites (not giant "let me hoover up this food" bites like before). I do separate bites by a few minutes.

Ya, this is an oldie but a common problem... and I did the same thing, ran over and gave my fiancé a huge hug and a kiss.
If you're reading this and thinking the original post applies to you... there's an easy way to lose 200 lbs. really quickly via dumping syndrome... as in, dumping the unsupportive loser. Let him be jealous when you're a 10 outside as well as inside and he's stuck at a 4... maybe.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you are, say, 5'5", getting from a BMI of 60 to a non-obese BMI of 30 would mean an additional weight loss of 180 lbs. (on top of the other 80 lbs.) which even the most hardened insurance company would see requires surgery.
But definitely ask your bariatric center for guidance and access to a nutritionist/dietitian to help you get those 80 lbs. down.

vikingbeast got a reaction from Smanky in NSV: Blood pressure medication
Way back in the Bad Old Days, I was on whopping doses of not one, but two blood pressure medications, one of which had a Water pill (diuretic) baked into it... and still my blood pressure was usually about 140/85, so barely controlled at all. When I had my VSG, my primary care doctor told me to take one dose of the one with the water pill the day after surgery to help me pee out the surgery Fluid and then leave off taking it. I continued on the amlodipine at 10 mg.
A week and a half later I had my blood pressure taken in the office and it was a bit low, so my doctor started me on 5 mg a day, but told me to monitor my blood pressure each morning before taking it. If it was normal, don't take the drug; and if it was normal for four days straight, to leave off taking the drug altogether and send him a message. Today was the fourth day. I took my blood pressure this morning as always, and it was 118/65.
I am no longer on blood pressure medication, which was arguably my biggest reason for getting the surgery done!
I've only lost 33 lbs. since surgery and have 84 to go, but apparently my circulatory system appreciated it and I went from barely-controlled-with-two-big-doses to no medication needed at all in a day short of three weeks.

Idk if this helps but the NP told me that we are supposed to eat to prevent hunger rather than to eat when we are hungry. Since surgery I have been eating by the clock and it seems to work for me. Between three meals and two Snacks I eat a small portion every three hours and I know when I feel hungry between meals it must be head hunger cause I just ate.

Hi! I was not, but there is a thread in the Guys' Room (so please no replies from the ladies) about men who started over 400 lbs., and I know there was at least one person who was near to 600 lbs. and managed to lose 230 pounds plus... he stopped updating, but it can be done.

    Here is the thread:

Also, if I eat more after the "former hunger" signal I get the tight chest, sneezing, and burping that means I exceeded the capacity of my pouch.

My new 'full' signal feels like pre-op hunger. Driving me insane. I just force myself to wait 30 minutes. If it goes away, then I'm good. If I'm still hungry, I eat another couple of bites.

Let me start by saying that my husband met me when I was thin but he married me when I was heavy so I know he loves me no matter what. At the same time if I ask him he is honest about my size. Well I haven’t lost any weight on the scale for over a month now but I have been doing crunches because I have what I like to call a spare tire. Last night I asked my husband if my spare tire is getting better because I’ve been doing crunches for a while and he said it’s not quite a spare tire anymore and I said so is it more like a doughnut he said well not a doughnut either, maybe just tread. I thought it was funny and was glad to hear that even though I am not losing weight it is redistributing. I increased my crunches today to try and get rid of the tread but don’t want to get my hopes up too much. The NP already told me with the loose skin I probably will not have a six pack without surgery. But going from a full on belly to spare tire to donut to just tread is still HUGE. I’ll take it.

Not a lady, but concur, don't take a ton.
Of the stuff I brought, this is what I used:
    - Phone and charger with looooooong cable (some of those plugs are in freaking Timbuktu!). Alternatively you could bring a spare charged up battery.
    - Change of chonies, socks, and t-shirt
    - Chanclas to walk around in, because they never have non-slip booties in my size
    - Chapstick, Gas-X and Biotene
    - Deodorant
    - Pillow to keep the seatbelt from pressing into my incisions

I did not spend the night in the hospital (reported at 06.30, was home less than 12 hours later) so showered at home.

"Only" 33 pounds in the 3 weeks since surgery! How do you show your face? You must be so ashamed of yourself. 🤣
Be warned you are on the threshold of the infamous 3-week stall. Before you panic and post about your stall, search "3 week stall" then change nothing and keep doing what you are doing.
    Good luck,
