uh oh! For what I hear your period can go crazy from all the hormone change in your body but I usually hear people have it too long or it doesn't stop.
I can't actually think of anyone talking about missing it.
    Pregnancy test?😳

re: bony butts...I ended up having to get one of those memory foam cushions with the cutout for the tailbone. I even just got a new car with REALLY comfy seats, and I drive pretty long distances and I still have to use the cushion on long drives because my tailbone is out and proud, apparently.

My coach said to think of this is a months-long cutting phase... and just like with any cutting phase, the muscle will return.

September 14 here. I am down 78 pounds since surgery and 87 since the start of the pre-op diet. Weight loss has definitely slowed as I replace fat with muscle, but it's nice to be able to buy clothes and have choices again.

I am three months out and already have increased appetite. Its no where near the hanger type hunger pre-surgery though. I am still eating around 3-3.5 oz and have lost about 45 lbs. I had a VSG.

    Get your crockpot.
Get some chicken breasts and clean all the icky stuff. No one wants to run into that later. Ya want nice clean chicken without connective tissue yucky spots, Trim that stuff off.
    Plot them in a crockpot.
Dump in a jar of salsa.
Dump in a can of black Beans.
Dump in a packet of taco seasoning.
Dump in a can of corn (if you tolerate corn)
    Let it cook all day.
    At dinner, shred the chicken.
You can eat this stuff plain, and your family can dress it up with cheese and nachos and sour cream.
    Everyone's happy. Everyone wins.
Makes a great packed lunch the next day, too.
(I like mine on a bed of lettuce with some fresh red onion, avacado, and hot sauce....and a little reduced calorie sour cream)

Because the surgery helps people better manage a very strict diet program so they can actually sticks to it. Some people lose their hunger for months, making it much easier to be satisfied at 800 calories. Even when hunger returns, a smaller stomach helps with Portion Control.

Happens to me too and I am 1.5 months Vsg post op. I get that air bubble feeling and it is terrible to try to burp it up as it doesn't make it up all the time. If it feels like food is lodged and I start getting a ton of foamies I do end up vomiting a little. I use my iWatch timer for 2 minutes between bites has helped my brain catch up with my eyes as it relates to hunger. Just when I start to think I have enough room for that last bite...I stop and wait more and realize it's not happening. What does NUT mean.... nutritionist or significant other? [emoji51]

Now that I am trying to get back into weight lifting I have definitely noticed a huge loss of muscle and strength...but as we are able to eat more I am hoping to gain back muscle.

I'm an odd bird and it takes a LOT to make me upchuck. I did it once and still felt woozy but at least not "blocked". But usually I just tough it out.

Thought I would give an update here. VSG was done 9/14/2021, today is 11/14/2021.
    THE GOOD:
Down 55 lbs from surgery, 64 lbs from the start of the pre-op diet, and 94 lbs from my heaviest weight. Hypertension and asthma diagnoses were officially withdrawn. Hypogonadism is under review. CPAP average setting went from 16 cm H2O to about 7 cm. Have an appointment soon to see if I need it any more. Depression has almost completely been put in remission. Went from 52/34 to 36/34 in the same cut of jeans, and actually need to go see if they have 34/34 at the outlet. Went from 4XL or even 5XL shirts to L or XL (mostly XL). Went from 15EE boots to 12D; my arch has returned, which shocked my surgeon and my PCP. Running and enjoying it for the first time ever. Way too many NSVs to count THE BAD:
Still occasional bouts of Constipation which mess up scale results, but then it all, um, resolves and the number on the scale goes WHOOSH. Had to fire my NUT for being a horrible person. Found a new NUT who is amazing and who does the same fitness I do. The extremely restrictive diet (especially under the old NUT's "guidance") caused a massive drop in strength, which did not help at work. It also caused me to stall out. The new NUT increased my intake from 600-800 to 1000-1400 cals a day, and WHOOSH went the scale once again. It actually hurts to sit down because my butt is bony. I'm cold all the freaking time, even when it's objectively-by-any-sane-standard not cold. Needed a chiropractic adjustment because my hips are not used to carrying 25% less of me and were hurting badly. Had to replace expensive work boots because they were giving me blisters. Clothes I can get from the Goodwill and Ross Dress For Less; work boots not so much. THE UGLY:
Eating too fast or even one bite too much means spending the next 30 minutes to an hour in great physical discomfort. It takes time for the full signal to arrive in my brain. Eating lettuce salad was, in hindsight, a really, really bad idea. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Some gnarly skin tags as my fat melts away, and the beginnings of some loose skin. Added in a daily dose of collagen peptides to help. One incision is still quite visible, though it's healed over. Starting to notice a little more hairfall, including head, beard, and chest. Still the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Zero regrets. None. In hindsight, I had nothing to be nervous about. Rest for the first few day/week, go easy for a few weeks & you’ll be amazed at how good you feel. Honestly, I’ve had dental work that was more of a struggle. Good luck!

    Hey everyone!
    Just had sleeve yesterday morning.
    I was a self pay.
first day was the worse than today. I’ve been nauseous ever since I woke from surgery.
it’s hard for me to distinguish from gas pain and nausea. I managed to get 8 oz down yesterday. I threw up the gabapentin immediately. Feeling scared to try anything. My nurse said he’ll have me try the Tylenol at some point.
belly just feel like I worked out my abs, and getting up takes some work.
I’ve walked until I get tired, which a about 5 laps around my room.
today is better than yesterday, but boy does this suck!!!!
    And my room freezing.
nothing good today yet, just that today is better.

Egg salad, canned chicken salad, seafood salad (made with that fake k-rab that I think is called surimi). All with light mayo. Cooked non-gassy vegetables (green beans!). Not-refried Beans (my recipe below).

    NOT-REFRIED BEANS
1 cup (200 g) dry pinto beans (or whatever dry bean you like)
1/3 medium onion, peeled, not necessary to cut up
1 large or 2 small cloves garlic
2 bay leaves or 1 avocado leaf
Salt and (optional) Knorr "suiza" (chicken bouillon powder)
    1 jalapeño
1/3 medium onion, peeled and chunked
    1 tsp oil

    1. Soak the beans in Water to cover by a few inches overnight.
    2. Drain the beans, then put them in a pot (I have a clay pot but any heavy pot that retains heat will work) with the 1/3 onion, the garlic, the dry leaves, and salt or suiza. Cover with water by a good 2-3 inches (5-7 cm).
    3. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Simmer at least 2 hours until the beans are nice and tender.
    4. Poke a hole in the jalapeño with a knife (so it won't explode) and fry it and the second onion third in the oil until softened. Cut the top off the fried jalapeño (take out the seeds if you don't like spicy or if seeds aren't allowed).
    5. Blend the beans, the jalapeño, the fried onion, and enough of the bean broth to make a purée the consistency that you want. Save the bean broth separately, because the purée will set up overnight and you can thin it with tasty bean broth instead of just water.
The entire recipe is 773 cal, 42.6g Protein, 133.7g carbs, 7.5g fat. It is easily 8 bariatric servings.

Today, I am officially one week and a day post-op. The first 2-3 days by far were the worse and even caused me to have “buyer’s remorse”. But for anyone thinking about surgery, do it! It gets a little easier each day. You do have to learn to be patient with how your body initially reacts to anything you ingest. Is the diet post-op boring? Absa-freaking-lutely! But I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thus far, I have lost 15 lbs, I am astonished. Those 15 lbs have allowed me to drop a size to a 16. I haven’t been able to get down to that size since 5 years ago, before I had my first child. Everyone has those shorts or clothes that you hang on to because you are determined to fit back into them. This week my NSVs were fitting into two pairs of shorts I have been hanging onto. I am so happy! Another NSV (TMI topic) is that I am fully back to being “regular” on my BMs, makes me feel a little more normal since it took about 4 days after surgery to have one.
