    Hi all,
I'm approaching 5 months post op and really struggling to lose. I am between 600-800 calories daily, hydrating, 60 grams minimum of Protein, getting in an hour of cardio almost daily... According to my baritastic app, I'm burning around 1000 calories from cardio. And I'm still bouncing around the same 5 pounds from my last post. Am I doing too much cardio? I don't think I'm building much muscle because I don't really have any muscle aches. I feel stuck and down and still have SO much weight to lose.

If is doesn't have a lot of blood, I think you're probably ok. Keep it covered, keep an eye on it, and follow up with Dr on Monday. Good luck.

I may not be hitting my Protein goal. I've been eating veggie heavy Soup and possibly over estimating my protein. I'll see if that's the issue. Thanks so much for everyone's insight!

Congrats on your weight loss so far. It’s likely you’ve been experiencing a stall. They’re extremely common at the 3 week+/- mark & can last 1 - 3 weeks. It’s just your body taking a breath after all the changes. You may experience a couple of stalls as you’re losing. You’ll start to lose again. Stick to your plan & you’ll be fine.
    Good luck.

if you are following your program to a "T", the weight WILL come off, whether fast or slow. I was a slow-loser from the get-go and ended up losing over 200 lbs. I was super committed though - almost never went off my program for the first year.

First, congratulations on the 25lbs! Great start toward your goal!
One thing that has, in the past, always helped me kick start a weight loss is to add in (or increase) resistance training. Whether you are doing body weight exercises, lifting weights, or something else, anything you can do to increase your lean muscle mass will help with losing weight, because muscle burns more calories.
You might try changing your cardio too--add intervals of increased speed, jog a little if possible, bike, swim, do an exercise class. Our bodies get used to certain activities and can adapt to the pressures of those activities so it doesn't have to burn as many calories to do them. Change things up a bit and it can start shifting weight too.

People at your weight don't lose a ton of weight per month - it's only people the size of those on my 600 lb life who are losing a ton of weight each month. Also, you lost a fair bit before surgery, and that can mean you lose a bit more slowly after surgery.
Additionally, given your other medical issues limiting exercise, give yourself some grace AND patience! Weight loss is mostly from food intake, but it can be a bit slower without exercise. You've accomplished a lot already!
Just follow your plan the best you can and take care of yourself physically and emotionally. You got this!

Well done on your weight loss so far. At the weight you are now you are unlikely to be losing more than 10lb a month. I think you are doing great, be kind to yourself. They do say that comparison is the thief of joy, and comparing your weight loss rate to others is doing you no favours at all. Chat to your doctor and/or dietician and agree on some realistic goals for weight loss based on for your current personal circumstances.

FitOn is a great app that offers some free workouts. They also have a subscription which was $20 for a whole year when I paid for it. I have since switched to a CrossFit gym to challenge myself further, but I really liked FitOn when I was working out at home.

I was probably a year out before I ate popcorn. Much longer for chips. I do eat popcorn occasionally - I almost never eat chips. Too much of a temptation to overdo it - or at least it is for me.

I highly recommend Leslie Sansone videos on YouTube for cardio. There are tons of free videos available and they're great. I do these every day. There's something for everyone, from beginners to advanced, and the videos vary in length from about 10 minutes to 50 minutes (I often do two or three shorter ones back-to-back just to mix it up).
I use resistance bands for strength training. You can get a decent set for about $50 and there are free videos on YouTube for that, too.

There are tons of exercise videos on youtube that you can do for free, like dance exercise, isometric exercise that you don't need any equipment for, etc. You can also just turn on Pandora or any music service and play peppy music and dance.

I had this happen on Keto in the past. 3 week long period due to fat loss. It has something to do with excess estrogen which tends to be stored in fat cells. I have only had 1 cycle post op and it was more normal than it's been in years. I totally agree it's likely hormonal and should calm down.

The concern after surgery is dehydration, but that really only occurs when you have several cups a day. I would just make sure you’re getting enough fluids outside of coffee, so adding in a cup of Water throughout the day to offset the possible dehydration. I’m on week three post-op and I can say the caffeine hits me a little more strongly so you may not need your usual 3 to 4 cups.

    My binder says...........

"Caffeinated drinks are gastric irritants and are dehydrating. Caffeine should not be consumed unless and until you are achieving your fluid goals. Limit postoperative caffeine intake to 8oz a day."

Thank you everyone! I know I am so hard on myself. I need to just remind myself that I have already lost over 115lbs since only last December, its only been six months which is amazing. I have felt a lot better, im able to actually put on my shoes, able to move more. My joints dont hurt as much as when I was in my 400s. I found myself doing more around my apartment now like re-decorating and I have a much easier time cleaning. i dont ask my fiance to help me out as much, so I definitely feel more independent again. I am having a difficult time getting my Protein and my Water intake in, so I definitely need to work on this. i know today I only did about 30g of protein and I need to do at least 65 grams of protein per day. I tried drinking a Protein Shake to increase my intake but after a few sips, I was so sick of it. So that to me is a bit of a challenge. Today, I haven't done 64oz of water but I have done 50oz of water so far today which is the most I have done in the past month so at least im moving forward....
I definitely need to start paying more attention to the NSV. For example, now when im driving, my stomach isn't touching the steering wheel anymore which means I have a much easier time moving the steering wheel. I also don't need a seat belt extender anymore, however I still use it because my seatbelt sometimes locks up but still....that's a huge accomplishment! Now when im reminding myself how far I have come, I am feeling quite proud of myself. Thank you everyone, this is the motivation I needed
