ShoppGirl reacted to Flaca526 in Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?
    Hi There,
I had my sleeve done on the 23rd (3 days ago).
    My stats:
    Height: 5'2
    Highest weight:226
Weight on Day of surgery 214
    Weight Day 3: 203
Day 0--My surgery was was scheduled @2:15 pm. I woke up in recovery around 6:30pm with the worst nausea. The nurse helped me walk a bit and i was "released" to my room. The next few hours were horrible for me. I kept heaving which hurt my abdomen pretty bad. The nurse came every 2 hours to have me walk. I was given hearing shots in the stomach i think like 4 times. My blood was drawn like 5 times (over 2 days). I was weak from the heaving so that was tough, I was given anti nausea thru my IV. It took a lot of energy to send my husband a text letting him know I was ok.
Day 1- started off much like the end of day 1. They took me to x-ray to see if I could drink a half cup of sweet cherry testing liquid while they x-ray'd me to see it pass through my system. I passed but the whole time I was nauseated and wondered how I could drink that amt of liquid. The doctor came in and cleared me to go home, but first I had to drink 6 oz of Water (placed in 1oz cups) and an additional 2 paper cups of water. Drinking that amt was so tough. Finally the nurse was able to give me gas x (chewable). I went home and slept.
Day 2- I woke up to nausea and thirst. I walked downstairs and poured myself a glass of water and tried to sip it. GAS x is my best friend now because drinking any Fluid causes me so much gas. Day 2 goals was drinking 40oz of liquid. I had two sugar free popsicles and got close to the goals but didn't meet it. Overall Day 2 better than Day 1.
Day 3- Today I woke up determined to meet 40 oz goals. I am close. I woke up with less pain and find it easier to move around, just not hungry which is good. I am popping gas x like it is going out of style. The dr called and said that will last a couple of weeks but the more I read about it, it sounds more like 4 mos.
I will update more next month.
    Thanks for listening.

Dont feel stupid! We are all humans. It happens. What i've found being a part of this community is the amount of information that we get from our respective programs are vastly different in many ways. Some get like NO info and no prep from a NUT or psych, some get TONS of info. Some plans do a calorie vs carb thing. Some dont allow any form of beef for 6 months. Some are a 6 step process to get you back to "normal food." Some say hey 4 weeks out, do what you can handle. What I've done over the last 6 weeks is researched from reputable bariatric centers across the country and kind of make a mishmash of the most helpful information and stuff that kept popping up. That, along with following some of the vets on here and reading through their posts have helped me greatly in the "What not to do" aspect. I honestly didn't get a lot of info for my surgery. Most of what I knew was from being with my ex who had the surgery a few years ago. But the packet I did get was not thorough and quite contradictory throughout. The nutritionist even got mad at me for using 2 T of 35 calorie mayo when it was ON HER RECIPE. So I totally get feeling and being misinformed and ill prepared. This isnt something thats easy and its not necessarily a line of thought that we're used to when we've struggled with weight our whole lives. So just give yourself grace, do your due diligence, and take care of that new and still healing stomach, you worked hard for it.
The important thing is that you recognized your mistake, you did the right thing in calling your surgery center, and now you know. Like CatWoman said, most of us have been put on a no Pasta, bread, high carb/dough NOPE list until months and months out, for example, mine is a nono til 8-12 months.
Dont feel stupid, this community is amazing and super helpful. People can come off like theyre being harsh, but I truly believe that Its because they want everyone else to succeed too. Don't get discouraged. Keep your head up. And reach out to pretty much anyone on here and they're more than willing to help!!
Goodluck, hun. I'm rooting for you!

I just talked to the nurse practitioner she thinks I will be okay if I have no pain so far but she I was just way off track on what I should be eating right now which I already realized. I skimmed the page and seen Pasta under soft foods and did not read the DO NOT part. I feel super stupid for misreading it but what’s done is done I guess. I just have to do what I am supposed to do from now on.
  5. Thanks

just so you know, most of us don't eat Pasta for at least the first year. I still can't eat much of it at 6 yrs out because it feels like a brick in my stomach. Plus it's not very nutritious. You have a tiny stomach now, so you have to eat mostly nutritionally dense things...

Hey! congrats on your surgery and progress so far. Try not to freak out. I think at some point we have all messed up and had something we shouldn’t or too soon. I know what the nurse told you is scary about complications, but just monitor yourself and maybe give yourself some extra time for digestion before putting anything else in your body!!
So my plan had me go from puréed food to “soft foods” so I just wanted to share a couple things you could try to bridge the gap between the puréed and regular food stage (I’m not allowed regular food til month 3 post op, but my plan is kind of strict) but what I’ve been eating in the soft foods/transitional stage has been like smothered green Beans, moist soft chicken (I made a low-fat low cal gravy), sweet potatoes, ground Turkey (made some really good stuffed bell peppers with some this week but I’ve been really sick to eat more than half of one), I’ve done ricotta bakes (look it up, life changer), low cal/fat “lasagna” with egg instead of Pasta, some ground chicken patties with spinach and green onions.
what my NUT/surgeon told me is the new stomach is trying to learn how to digest properly for even months after surgery. So things very starchy or carby are dangerous because they can become gelatinous in the stomach!!
So please don’t freak out, I know it’s scary! Monitor yourself and if anything starts feeling wrong besides being full, contact your doctor!!

    You’ve got this!!!

Wow. I am so sorry your supposed friend reacted like this. I was warned about these types of reactions. It’s most likely because they always knew they were bigger but it was okay because you were too and if you are doing something about it that means they should too. And not their so called honest hard work or whatever they called it but actual change like you have made. We all know that this process is far from easy and frankly even if it was wouldn't a true friend be happy. I hope you can have a heart to heart and not lose a long time friend over this but if not they weren’t really ever the friend you thought they were. Wishing you the best of luck in this situation.

I’m similar. Haven’t felt the restriction yet. And someone else told me that you feel it more once you get to solid food. I haven’t got there yet so idk but that’s what I was told by someone on here.

I would have your wife go with you to talk to your doctor and ask her questions. As for the 80% divorce rate i’m pretty sure it also says it makes a good marriage better and a bad marriage worse. Maybe that will help her feel better about it.

Tiny. My largest one is just over an inch and the smallest looks like a pin prick. I’m guessing in a year I won’t be able to find them.

Getting discharged today. Had a little swelling near the biggest incision site but I’m assuming that normal and the nurse also confirmed it. Not much of an appetite but I’ll stay as hydrated as possible. I’m curious to see how much weight I lose in the next few months

My surgery date is 4/7. Excited but extremely nervous. I started my preop diet this week and it is going well. I am stocking for the liquid phase but don't have many ideas for the pureed stage but I have a little time to think about it. One nice thing is my job is letting me work from home for the preop through the 6 week after so I can adjust my eating at home while still be able to work.
