  1. I can seem to open what you have and of course I didn’t save the recipe I tried but I remember it called for vanilla protein powder (I’m sure you could substitute any flavor you like). If the recipe you have doesn’t call for protein powder you may need to add a splash more milk. To up the protein you can add things like Greek yogurt, nuts, seeds, or nut butter (just be sure to add natural nut butter and be conscious of the calories).
  2. My sleeve surgery was a few years ago and apparently some things have changed. I got some of the premiere vanilla shakes that I drank immediately pre and post op and I couldn’t even get a whole one down. I remembered that I did get sick of them and I switched to their clear protein drinks but apparently they are not as popular because they aren’t as readily available. I was thinking something from the grocery store makes more sense so I can get it if I’m out and about plus I don’t have to buy it by the case. Does Anyone have any favorites. I don’t like peach or orange.
  3. I was advised no soda, ever again but I know that I have heard of people letting it sit out and go mostly flat. Maybe try that first if anything. Honestly if it were me I would just wait a little longer. Three weeks seems pretty soon and when I googled it one site did mentions three months. Maybe best to just run it by your team to be safe. You have gone through too much to risk hurting yourself.
  4. To add to @ms.sss comment. Iif you are weird like me and hate people seeing pictures of you , Ask one of the nurses ti take the ones at pre op, pre surgery and post op. After that you should be feeling much more confident and not mind having them taken by loved ones.
  5. I told my Dr at my preop that I was getting nervous and that I struggle with anxiety and he told me for every horror story i read that I need to search for about 99 stories of surgeries that Went perfectly smooth. The problem is that people are far more likely to post their stories if they are in bad shape looking for help then if they are out their living their best life because the surgery did exactly what it is supposed to. And if you are going to really consider the risks of complications For surgery. You really should also consider the risks of not doing it. Especially if you already have comorbidoties.
  6. That’s certainly good to be aware of but honestly it doesn’t surprise me. As it’s a risk With many drugs. To include every single antidepressant and mood stabilizer I have been on.
  7. Well I’m only tried it the last couple of years and thought it was so Hokey and weird. I felt absolutely ridiculous at first I swear but I had a therapist that kept gently telling me to just give it a fair shake and suggested that I practice in private when I wasn’t anxious. Well, to my surprise it actually does work for me. I have cut down significantly on my reliance of anxiety medication and also learned to be mindful doing other things such as crafts to reduce stress. I totally get the people that think it’s all a crock. I was absolutely one of them, but it actually works. ??‍♀️
  8. This post is older. I am thinking that your doctor may not want to do both at the same Time. For one it would take getting two doctors schedules to mesh up but also they try to keep you under the least time possible. Plus, healing time may be longer than if they were done separately. Couldn’t hurt to ask him or her, though. I’m sure they will have an opinion.
  9. Did you lose this weight on the liver shrink diet? If so, that diet is specifically designed to drop a big chunk of weight quickly but unfortunately the weight loss won’t continue to come off that easily long term. Only you know if you have given it your best shot at natural weight loss in the past but if you are like many of us here you have tried a number of times and nothing works to lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off. It’s your body and there is no shame in rescheduling if you feel like you need to give it one more try but also keep in mind that the biggest regret that many people list about bariatric surgery is not having done it sooner. Maybe make a list of the pros and cons and one of all the ways you have tried to lose weight in the past. Also keep in mind that pre surgery jitters are perfectly normal. You wouldn’t be sane if you weren’t at least a little nervous about major surgery. You are not alone.
  10. I have the free version of the calm app and I use it for mindfulness during the day which helps sometimes with mild anxiety. I think I need to practice it more when I’m not anxious to get better at it for it to work for major anxiety but that’s another story. I tried one of the sleep ones last night and it was just weird. Some others that are available on the app for sleep look promising but they are locked for the unpaid version. I do t like the keep sounds Most of them just make me feel like I need to pee. lol. I wish they would let you listen once for free and then make you pay for it so I would know if it’s worth it to sign up.
  11. I guess I should add that this is the same surgeon that did my sleeve just 3 years ago and I had a week long liver shrink diet before the two day liquid diet. I’m wondering if it’s different since the sleeve part is already done??
  12. Looks like you’re already standing a little taller. Congratulations.
  13. I made these using a recipe online and they are good. One tip Though is if you use a mason jar, get the wide mouth ones. Otherwise they are a challenge to clean. Hope you enjoy.
  14. I am pending a revision surgery from sleeve to Sadi and the Dr did not mention the pre op diet at all. Then the lady comes in with the paperwork and said if he didn’t mention one then I should just do one or two days of liquids. She said she was gonna say two days for now and would let me know if it was one. Well I called and the girl at front desk said yes its Two days but I just have this nagging feeling she just looked at the paper where the other lady wrote two days and I’m not certain anyone asked the dr to make certain. Has anyone getting revision had A shorter pre Op diet Such as this I don’t want to do it if I don’t have to but I also want to make it easy for him to do it safely which I know is the point
  15. If you like cauliflower, try the Walmart one. It’s cauliflower Parmesan and it’s really good
  16. what stage are you on? Liquids or puree? I mean even the chicken noodle is much better than canned. The Walmart cauliflower Parmesan one is pretty good too. I’m trying to think whether it is runny enough or if it would need to be thinned out some though. Check out Walmart website. Just search deli soup And the panara and market side brands come up.
  17. Try the panara ones from grocery. They are refrigerated. They are near the deli at my store.
  18. Making your own is certainly the most healthy way to go but honestly you can take just about any soup and strain the chunks out of you are on full liquids whether it’s from a restaurant or deli. The Panara brand soups sold af grocery stores are pretty good and Walmart has their own brand at the deli.
  19. I don’t know for certain how much of an iron deficiency you would need To cause hair loss but I assumed that your doctor does. I just figured If he said he wasn’t concerned and was referring you to a dermatologist then he had ruled out iron as the issue. I guess the easiest way to know for sure would be to increase your supplements though. Doctors aren’t always right after all. I really hope you figure it out soon. I can only imagine how scary it must be to not know the cause.
  20. There are so many opinions about what vitamins people are told to take immediately post op any even more variations of what they stay on once people get labs back and realize that our bodies all respond differently to the same surgery. If your doctor isn’t concerned about your iron I would keep an eye on it with your labs but I doubt it’s low enough to be responsible for hair loss. A stab in the dark though, did you have COVID lately by any chance. A friend of a friend of mine got COVID and then started losing her hair several weeks afterwards. A quick google just revealed it’s referred to as hair shedding and it often follows a very high fever that comes with COVID and one site suggests biotin. If this applies to you maybe do a little more research into it. Otherwise I think a trip to the dermatologist is a good next step if your doctor didn’t see any explanation in your labs.
  21. Whatever your pre op diet, try to eat relatively healthy a week before that. Don’t go from doing food funerals one day to the liver shrink diet the next because the cravings will be that much worse. For me, carbs make me crave more carbs so i cut them completely the week before while I could still eat any portion of other stuff I wanted so that the pre op diet was a little easier and it wasn’t bad.
  22. Hummm. Well, you could try biotine for the dry mouth but I would still contact your surgeon if you can’t get fluids down.
  23. I don’t think I totally understand. I don’t know why your mouth is bothering you and I can’t think of what that would have to do with the surgery. If it’s some sort of dental pain you probably need a dentist but If it’s because liquids won’t go down and you were doing fine getting them down before I would definitely contact your surgeon. Did you go to the er for fluids? What did they say about whether it could be surgery related?? As for protein, they also make clear protein waters. Have you tried those??
  24. Sounds like others have pretty much covered what I was going to say but just know that you are not alone in this. Keep posting here and keep doing what you’re doing. You’re doing great.
  25. Thank you all for your suggestions. It helps to just know that I am not alone in this. Some of these options I have never even heard of and others that I had forgotten. For starters, I am one of those people that has the tv on 24/7 just for the background noise and I always turn it to a familiar show at night so the tones do not wake me. I absolutely cannot sleep when it’s quiet but I’m sure the light from the tv is not helping me now. If I go to a friends house or the power is off or something, I listen to podcasts and I think maybe I need to switch to that to eliminate the blue light for starters and I definitely want to do some research on that red light as well Also its curious you mention the hot shower at night @ms.sss because I recently started sweating at night dampening my hair and bed clothes (I assume it’s the beginning of the change) so I switched to morning showers… maybe that’s playing a part In all this. Perhaps until I get back on track I need to take a second shower or bath. I guess I won’t have the sweating excuse for not doing a little cardio at night either. I had a really bad experience with Ambien years ago so I want to steer clear of the prescriptions if at all possible. Two of you mentioned the ashwagandha. I hadn’t heard of that one. I will have to ask my dr about that with my other meds too. Another friend just told me that she has had luck with that magnesium that you spray on your feet for anyone reading this later. I am so relieved to know that there are so many things to try. Something has to work so I can get some ?. Thanks again.
