  1. Bipolar disorder is not something that would be caused by surgery but it usually does not present itself until someone is in their early 20’s. (Of course that’s not always exact- there is also childhood bipolar and people who go undiagnosed so they learn about it later). It’s likely just coincidence time wise but I suppose the hormonal changes may have exacerbated it some If you have bipolar and had one episode of depression you are not cured now, I’m afraid. The episodes just come and go and they can be depression or mania and last different amounts of time from one person to the next. The medication helps lessen the extremes but it can take some trial and error to find the right one and you have to continue to take it, even when you are feeling better. It can be a bit challenging but if you work with your doctor to find the right meds- and again I stress that you must take your meds every day- it should be manageable. Talking to a therapist can help as well.
  2. They are kinda expensive but tasty. I also heard with the 42 grams that you shouldn’t drink it all in one sitting because our bodies can’t absorb that much at once.
  3. I had sleeve 3.5 years ago and pre op I did nothing but vanilla premiere shakes. Then I was pretty sick kid those and I found the cafe latte in the same brand which I still like but it has caffeine. Pending revision I tried the vanilla again and it was disgusting to me. My husband buys the core power by fairlife and had me taste a chocolate which I am never a fan of but when even that wasn’t awful I decided to try their vanilla and it’s fine. Their strawberry banana is quite tasty in fact. We will see if I feel the same after two weeks of them though. ?
  4. I am pending revision from sleeve to SADI but when i was considering revision to bypass my research brough up a lot of information of revision from bypass and it was to SADI or DS.
  5. Wow. You have certainly had your plate full. I’m glad to hear that you were able to get a revision now though which hopefully will get you back to where you want to be. How are you feeling after a week?
  6. Yea. I’m sure you would’ve thought about it once you calmed down a little. You just have a lot on your mind. This process can seem like a lot at times. You've got this though. Schedule if all now since some of them specialists take a while to get into so you have it as early as possible and double check with Dr that you won’t have to follow up for any Of it because that will mess up your timeline a little but hopefully it will all fall right into place. ❤️
  7. what if you schedule the tests for early January and just start the six months of visits now?! Because usually they wait until after the six months to submit to insurance and it can take like 30 days for an answer and then another month or two for the surgeons schedule. If you had your six months done and then knocked out them other tests like the first week of January then they could hopefully submit it all right after (unless you need follow up to any of that). If it is just the one visit though, That would be 6 months from now?? I mean ask the Dr if that works for her of course cause maybe I’m missing something but I hope they understand finances are important too.
  8. Maybe the reason she still needs to see you is if you were tracking but you weren’t going in to get your weight recorded. Usually They want to see your weight recorded by a dr every month for the six months. @SleeveToBypass2023 I think you just had an amazing doctor that took good notes to begin with then took the time to put it all together For you.
  9. Okay so I had my appt with the NP And thank god I asked for it. As I suspected she said she has no clue why they told me I just had to do the two day liquid diet. I thought she was going to say I had to do a week like my sleeve but she said I have to do Two weeks and the two days of liquids. So I have to start Monday. Now I have to cut the rest of my caffeine out even faster and get my groceries for Monday. It’s doable but I don’t like last minute changes. Luckily my LSD isn’t all shakes. I do get a meal and a snack. The meal is 3oz lean mean and 1/2 cup of non starchy veggies with 1/3 cup grains or starchy veggies or fruit. I remember last time I wasn’t starving, just really board with it. I’m guessing two weeks it’s going to be even more boring though. ?
  10. I seen a recipe a while back too where you put pudding mix into cool whip and then freeze it again and it’s kinda like ice cream.
  11. I know you say you like to cook but just in case your not in the mood one day. Have you also checked the quest protein snacks. I know they are low-ish calories but not sure about the carbs and stuff. I remember they were pretty good. I know they were suitable for my maintenance plan once in a while. They have ones that are like m&m’s and also chocolate with caramel and nuts (pecans I think). My target never had them in stock but they do carry them at the bigger stores.
  12. @Rosslyn how are you doing? Your getting close.
  13. Don’t feel bad about the acronym, I had to ask about LSD (liver shrink diet) just recently and they even spelled it out in the sentence just before it, ?. Ooh yea, NSAIDS that soon after any WLS can really cause issues, even sleeve or SADI. I think I was a year out and had to take them for a vaginal scope thing to look for polyps. I called and they put me in with the NP who said it was okay on rate occasion but I still try to keep it to like once a year at most and even then they say to take it with food and after a PPI. Please don’t go back to smoking. For the sake of yourself post surgery and just your own sake. I did it. I thought I could smoke just one like an idiot and of course that took me right back like I had never quit. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. It was just as hard to quit the second time. I have no clue what I was thinking. That’s interesting you start the colace what. The liquid diet. I start right after surgery I think. I should double check. When do you know for sure that they got all your insurance stuff back and your good to go. Seems like they will want to hear back any-day to leave time for someone else to do start their preop diet and fill the slot if they have to postpone you.
  14. Oh. I am definitely not trying to preach against having little treats now and again. I just thought that If it’s true about the sweeteners messing up our tastes for sweet that may really help the majority of the time. My husband makes apples on the grill like that with cinnamon. That or the air fryer. They cook faster if you slice in wedges first. I add Splenda to them which is back to my issue with artificial sweeteners and how we started this conversation. I also seen somewhere it you add PB2 powder and cocoa powder to greek yogurt it’s supposed to be kinda like Reese’s. I would think it may need splenda too but we already know I have a problem. ?
  15. The nutritionists keep telling me that if I were to give up the artificial sweeteners that fruit would taste a lot sweeter and be more of a Desert on its own. I haven’t been able to do it yet but the one I talked to last told me about true lemon to add to my water. They have a lot of flavors not just lemon. I’m trying to make the switch now. Hopefully it works.
  16. I just got my labs and EKG today. I’m really hoping that’s okay because the lady put four of the little sticky things under one of my boobs. They have always put them on both sides so that was weird. The dr looked though and didn’t say it was bad or anything. I actually just had one like a month ago but they said they wanted the labs to be within a month of the surgery so I said let’s just do it again just in case. I don’t want anything to push my surgery date. Im trying to get back into the habit of taking my vitamins too. It’s really hard to remember them. I take the procare health multi and bariatric advantage calcium chews but i did try the bariatric pal ones and they aren’t bad. I just want to ask the NP about them before I make that switch. I bought the bariatric advantage chewable multi for the first month. That’s awesome to hear about the smoking. I quit a while ago and it’s definitely an accomplishment. I remember it being kinda freeing that it was one less thing I always had to keep track of and worry about. And now I don’t now how I ever was a smoker. I smell it and it takes my breath. It’s so weird. I meet with the NP tomorrow to verify but I think my liver shrink diet is supposed to be a week long. If so, that means next week I will do a low carb diet to prepare. That’s not required but I just don’t want to go from eating like I do now to the LSD. If I’m correct, I will be starting that process this Tuesday. I am trying to tie up all my loose ends by next week. I don’t want to have anything extra to do the week I am on the liver shrink diet. I figure I will take that time to get my house in order. Every surgery I ever had I sit here and look around at what I could be doing if I wasn’t physically restricted so I hope to get it all done this time.
  17. I have no doubt that you will get there with your current attitude. I hope you plan something really cool for your 60th because you will definitely have a lot to celebrate with lots of little victories along the way.
  18. Haha. I started typing something pretty much exactly like that but couldn’t figure how to word it without sounding offensive to the men that actually do their part. I know not all men think like that but it sounds like this person has no clue what it’s like to have 4 Kids running around.
  19. I’m guessing that if you just got to go to work and come home and rest you wouldn’t feel as overwhelmed by the idea. Perhaps the dr didn’t understand your home demands on top of work. Trust what your body is telling you and go back when you feel ready. Even when you do go back if you can solicit help from others with the home stuff definitely ask for it. Everyone’s recovery is different. Your surgeon should know that.
  20. Let me know if what you come up with is good. I absolutely love pizza and one slice of it the way I make it isn’t bad but I always go back for seconds a little later. I would love to find a way to make it even healthier.
  21. Okay so tonight I had cauliflower crust pizza. I didn’t make the crust. It was frozen. Not the absolute greatest but not terrible either. I made it with ricotta, mozz, chicken and onions so I got my protein at least. I have a battle between my brain and my stomach trying not to eat too terrible in these next couple of weeks Before I start my preop.
  22. That sounds like a lot of fun. Enjoy it.
  23. Congratulations on your surgery date. That’s a pretty long liquid diet but I guess it’s because you have a specific amount of weight they need you to lose. It will be well worth it because it will make your surgery that much safe plus be that much less you have to lose afterwards. I can’t suggest much for the wedding but When I did my sleeve I celebrated my birthday early because of the pre op diet. I guess you missed that window but you can celebrate late (a half birthday this year perhaps). But honestly one thing you will learn from this surgery is that we tend to celebrate things with food but there are many other ways to celebrate. You can take a weekend trip somewhere you’ve been wanting to go, spend a day at the spa or buy yourself something you have really been eyeballing. And you can have people around who will inevitably need to eat something but not have the day centered around food. Or you can schedule something between lunch and dinner and ask people to not bring food. It’s your day so you get to celebrate it how you want.
  24. I love that you are able to compartmentalize it and focus on your non scale victories. That attitude should carry you far in all of this.
  25. I’m so sorry. That would be such a letdown. Try not to let it get you off track though. You already went through the rough part of detoxing from all the stuff you crave. If you stick to a lower carb diet it should be that much easier for you the next time. Also, I would ask if they can keep your number handy in case they have any cancellations.
