I'm looking forward to hopefully kicking BP meds to the curb after surgery! When your BP was that low, what dis you do to get it back up? I live alone so being dizzy is a bit scary/concerning to me. So, I want to know how to fix that or prevent it if possible.

Hello all, I'm having surgery in early April. I'm on Amazon looking at food scales. Any tips for a good type of scale? I see some that have bowls attached. Not sure which kind is more helpful. Also. Were any other supplies helpful during the first few weeks of recovery? I don't want to spend money on a lot of stuff that I will only use a few times. But, I will be home alone recovering and do want supplies that will be worth the money. Thanks!

Thanks for the spray recommendation. I get it about wanting the scale to move. I want progress in pounds lost as well. But, I also want overall health, which to me means being careful about how I stress myself and being careful with my mindset about this process. Hope you see what you want soon. Good luck.

Thanks for your question. I'm having both done at the same time as well and was wondering about increased levels of pain also. I posted a question a few weeks ago asking if those who had both had less acid reflux. That's my main hope. I fear the acid reflux that so many people comment about. Surgeon says fixing the hernia should prevent the reflux that some people experience after the sleeve surgery. I'm very hopeful.

Thanks for your reply. It was helpful as I prepare to have surgery. I'm having the sleeve surgery in 2.5 weeks. I plan to not jump on the scale a lot. I'm sure it might be frustrating to some to not be loosing faster or to hit stalls, but I dont want to drive myself crazy or create more stress on my body by scale watching. I've read a lot of stories on here about watching the scale. I'm having surgery to help improve my health. I dont want to he chasing numbers on a scale though. That would stress me out. I'm actually hoping that weight doesn't drop way too fast because I want my body to be adjusting some to the big changes. I'm trusting that overall if I follow my plan, I will lose weight in time and the speed of that may vary at times. Good luck Tim and everyone going through this process.

I see comments on these forums about issues with taste buds, everything tastes bad, and increased sensitivity to smell. Anyone know what causes these symptoms? Surgery in two weeks and I'm curious how long this usually lasts and how common it is.

I'm two weeks from surgery. I noticed that as well. Tons of commercials for junk. Luckily I usually mute my tv during commercials because I'm multitasking usually, lol. But it is insane how many commercials are pushing crappy food for people.

Oh no. Sorry that you are in so much pain. This seems different than what most people report on here. I hope that you are ok. I wonder if your surgery team needs to know that you are still in so much pain. I have my surgery in two weeks so I dont have experience with recovery yet. I just read a lot of postings on here. Thanks so much for sharing about your experience of sharing or not sharing with others. But, your post really heats me up inside. I mean we really shouldn't have to do all this work and thinking about others potential responses when it comes to having surgery. I mean people have all kinds of surgeries all the time. I just dont get why it is anyone's business when it comes to our choice to have WLS. Why is there so much stigma and shame about it? But, I get it when it comes to not disclosing and having to have lots of conversations with people. I'm also not telling tons of people because I really dont want anyone saying it's too much to do or that I dont need to do it. That will be the line. Because in my family, they wont say anything negative about me as a person, just concerns about me having surgery in general. I read the replies here and it's just sad what people experienced from others when they chose to do something that they hope will help them better help themselves on their weight loss journey. To me, wanting to help yourself get healthy is such a positive aspiration. And then once you do it, it's such hard work and dedication involved. I commend everyone and wish you all the best. A good therapist to help during this process is priceless because I certainly think that could be helpful to get through all of this. All the best everyone!

Forgot to say that I did not have any symptoms, other than the classic sore arm at injection site.

Oh. I got my second Moderna shot March 11. My surgery is April 6. Hmmm.

Great question. I am having a hiatal hernia repaired during my sleeve surgery in a few weeks also.

The sleeve resets our brains? I am preparing for surgery and have not heard this yet. Also, right after surgery, how long does your surgeon want you to be on a liquid diet? Puree diet for how long? Surgeons seem to be so different.

Thank you sooo much! Congrats to you. I'm feeling better after receiving so many inspiring responses and seeing my surgeon again. I'm also feeling better about the timing of the surgery. Spring is a good time for recovery and COVID seems to be getting a little better. I will say that just Friday there was a small crisis related to changing my plans for a driver for surgery and not wanting my family to find out from my brother who will most likely be my driver (and only knows I am having some type of surgery). But, I'm working through all that. I am very private and dont want to answer questions or explain myself to anyone. I'm going to meet with the therapist to work through some of that stuff. But, I'm full speed ahead with surgery. it is for me and my future! Thanks
