Personally, I don't think he meant it in the way you received it.

I think of this surgery as an investment. And it's a great investment on myself for several reasons, not just appearance. I would say that my investment paid off.

I don't think he meant it as a bad thing, I think he meant yeah, she's healthy she's happy, she looks great -life is good all around, type of meaning.

Maybe write your feelings down on a piece of paper and consider it a thing of the past.

I had mine less than 2 weeks ago, and like you, I didn't tell anyone. I told my family I was having a different surgery, at my job i told them i didn't wish to discuss, and honestly i don't know if I'll tell anyone. Maybe one day, right now, I'm not comfortable.

Vitamin D deficiency also causes dry skin so keep that in mind if Water and lotions do not help.

Sip super slow -thats what I was always told. Your stomach is pumped with carbon dioxide during surgery so for the first 4/5 days you may have bloating and get pains on your chest, shoulders, and back. I'm 1 month post sleeve and feel incredible, you'll get there, too.

I am applying lotion all the time. It is awful. The worst is my back where i can't reach to put lotion. It itches something terrible.

I work from home and I worked the day of surgery as soon as I woke up in my hospital room. All the nurses and doctors would see me on my bed with my laptop working and on conference calls. I worked each day thereafter. I felt significantly better after 2 weeks post sleeve and went to the office for a few hours.

    I’ve wondered this as well.
I started off with a BMI of exactly 41% and was able to (and still currently maintain) a BMI of 20-21%.
I lost well over 100% of my excess fat, which my bari surgeon admitted is outside his “typical” results, but he also admitted he was fairly confident going in that I would achieve it based off of my history, psych evaluation, and our personal interviews.

That being said, he and his team always point-blank refused to set a goal weight or BMI in front of me and I know that many clinics don’t
Mostly I think that’s because we need to shoot for our own goals and limits— not the limits that someone else thinks we can or cannot do.

I was so paranoid that I was going to be a spectacular failure at WLS, but ended up being a pretty spectacular success.

icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 got a reaction from Nanagrrl3 in Crystal light (peach) two days post op
I was given crystal light peach tea when I woke up from surgery, along with a bowl of brow, a bowl of Jello, and a cup of coffee. Honestly, I think it's okay if it's on your list of acceptable items. Your doctor should have given you a diet plan that would include what you can drink during the liquid stage. Everyone's plan is different and every surgeon had their do's/dont's - I'd call them and ask. Good luck on your recovery!

This is probably going to be a mess of a post. I tried to talk to a friend and just ended up crying and she didn't know what to say, and then when she tried to help it just made things worse. I know I am being a little nutty but I can't seem to find anyone that understands me right now.
My husband and I are leaving tomorrow for Arizona for the month of March. This is the first of what will be many "winter" trips south. I turn 50 in May and we have planned to spend our winters down there for a very long time. We will be spending the month with a new group of people that will be our "new" neighbors, they have never really met us in person, we have emailed back and forth and spoke on the phone but that is about it.
5th wheel is packed, pickup is packed, everything is ready, BUT I can't find any summer clothes that fit me. Last summer I weighed 230 plus pounds and my clothes are still in the camper from when we were at the lake, I am about 157 now. I went to town and couldn't find anything that really fit me, everything I tried on I felt silly in, my husband kept saying everything looked fine. I feel like I have skin everywhere, I have no boobs anymore (good or bad I don't know how I feel about that) , NOTHING feels right. I was angry at him for really no reason but still angry because I felt like he couldn't see what I was seeing.
I almost felt more comfortable in size 22. What the hell is wrong with me?
I can't get past this feeling, I can see the numbers on the scale change, I see the clothes size changes but when I look in the mirror all I see is ick. I don't see a slender body, I see a chubby body with a crappy wrapping job.
I have a freaking degree in psychology, I have spoke to kids about body dysmorphia in middle and high school, but I cannot seam to make my brain understand it has to work with my body on this......anyone else struggle with this?

I did not have a bowl movement for 14 days after surgery. My doctor said this sometimes happen with too much Protein. He had me drink prune juice starting at my 1 week check up. Half prune and half Water for 5 days. That did not work. Then he had me drink milk of magnesia and I took that for 2 days and finally I had a bowl movement. It was more the runs than anything. Afterwards, in my pureed stage he allowed oatmeal. I have oatmeal daily and think I'm regular now, but if I skip oatmeal one day, I am unable to have a bowl movement. So while on liquid stage they prune juice or milk of magnesia and then on your pureed stage find something to keep you regular.

My doctor said I'd lose about 50% of my weight in my first year, but he has more weight loss in mind. He wants me to lose about 55-60% of my weight. 50-60% does put me in a healthy BMI range.

Hi, I had my sleeve 20 days ago and have excessive skin dryness. All over my body, including legs, arms, hands, chest, face. Lotion and aquaphor do not help. Just seems to get worse. Does anyone else have this after a sleeve?

Honestly, I don't think there's anything you can order while on pureed stage. If it were me, I'd do one of two things: 1. I wouldn't go. 2. I'd bring my own pureed meal, if the restaurant allows.

I had the same thing but drinking all of your Water will help this. Also just make sure to moisturize right when you get out of the shower. But getting all of your water in is imperative and should help this issue.

icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 reacted to mae7365 in Strange feeling..... COLD
My doctor told me that the "cold" is because of the rapid weight loss. Our layer of fat (insulation) just below the skin has disappeared due to weight loss, thus feeling cold. I live in Florida and even 70 degree days require a sweater when I go outside! Socks are a must. Gloves and a hat if its windy or below 60.
Crazy, but I love it! Sure beats being hot and fat!

I noticed the same thing. I do have dry skin normally in the winter so I have been making certain that I keep up with Water. Maybe someone will share a brand of lotion that makes a difference with dryness.
