The only obstacle I can think of is that you might need to resubmit to insurance. Mine had to approve the specific surgery. Best of luck!

@@OutsideMatchInside, LOL, I agree with you, but it's like what they say about Alaska's ratio of men to women. The odds are good -- but the goods are odd! LOL.

I have several single girlfriends in their 40s and 50s, and it's kind of a freak show out there.

Sorry to say, but I still think this is a a bit on the P/A side although I do think honesty is best. This kind of feels like a guilt trip and again, this was your decision, so it's not fair to your friends to make them feel bad about their decisions. If you can't go along with it, simply opt out of social situations until you can. If you choose not to opt out (I didn't), bring something diet friendly for yourself and eat when they eat.
EMPOWER yourself to make great decisions. "Catching them later" is only going to make you resent yourself and your situation. Asking for their understanding? Meh. I didn't even understand what I was putting myself through until I was actually going through it.

We are just worried about your safety!
Im.2.5 years out, and I've managed to gain a pound or so due to binging on chocolate these last few days. That's how it goes sometimes, and the only thing hurting me is my pride and waistline. Otherwise, it's on me.
With you not being fully healed, people have a tendency to get a bit stern because of the safety factor. I feel the need to let you know how dangerous it can be, and not to screw around with it. It would be like you trying to run on a broken leg.
After you're healed? None of our beeswax what you're eating. But you want support from us? You got it!

Who'sThere got a reaction from mpt809 in Left side tenderness
Our surgical group really stresses that left side pain is to be expected. They say this is the largest incision, whether it be sleeve or RNY (those are the only two surgeries our group does now) and that is does involve the muscle. Also, they said this is where they pass the stapler through. They suggest we wear our binders as long as necessary as the pressure helps relieve some of he pain. I didn't need any pain meds after 24 hours when they took away the PCA pump at the hospital until 2 weeks out. I've had 3 doses now, all for this left side pain. The girls in my group say that one day, it will just be gone. I'm hoping it goes soon! Hope yours goes away soon too!

I would say it would likely cover revision to another surgery if it covered the other. Again, though, that depends on your specific policy. As for losing more slowly after revision, so far, that is not true for me. I am losing faster this time than I did with my lapband. I haven't updated my signature because I've not been on my laptop, but I always stayed between 270-265. I weighed 257 the morning of surgery (thanks preop diet!). My discharge notes have me weighing out at 268.4. Apparently fluids and swelling add a lot! Today, I'm 244.4. That's 24 pounds since I was discharged on 12/17. I know it will slow down, but I'll take it!
With my lapband, I started at 283 and got to 218 in less than a year. I don't remember exactly, but I'd say around 10 months. I maintained between 223-228 until I got pregnant. I gained to 244 with my pregnancy and was at 228 by the time she came home 2 months later. (She was a preemie; I had preeclampsia. I lost weight until the very end from hyperemesis gravidarum.) I had a complete due to the HG. Once she was born, I could not get a good level of reatriction. Also, I have Hashimotos and the stress from her birth and hospitalization sent that into a tailspin. My thyroid basically stopped functioning. So... I needed a revision to a metabolic surgery. That's my story.

I have also wondered what the full feeling is like until the other night. I had probably an ounce too much of a ricotta bake, and I felt full. It's hard to describe but I knew I had taken a few too many bites. Last night I thought I was full after about an ounce, so I stopped. In a few minutes I was okay to eat a little more. I think I had just eaten too quickly.

Who'sThere got a reaction from DecemberSleeve in What do you wish you'd known before lap band surgery?
I would say my band failure is 25/75. I'd say 25% the band's fault because it has never been right after having it deflated while I was pregnant. I had a complete unfill and I had hyperemesis. I threw up all day every day. I have and EGD friday, but my guess is it slipped. I thinks it's 75% my fault because instead of coming here for support earlier (where I realized what had likely happened) I just learned to eat around my band so that I could eat. I ate whatever I could get down, even if it was ice cream or chips or whatever.
In any case, I'm still glad I had my band. I lost 65 pounds I would never have lost otherwise. I have a child I wouldn't have otherwise. Also, even though I have failed long term, I feel I can take what I've learned from this and apply it when I have my revision. I won't wait to get help when I have trouble, and if the scale starts to find its way upward, I will regroup and buckle back down.

We didn't gain this weight overnight yet we expect to lose it instantly... just keep telling yourself "I am staying on my prescribed plan so I am losing FAT no matter what the #!?¢& scale says"...
Consider donating your scale to Goodwill or at least locking it into the trunk of your car.

12/1 and I've lost 18 pounds since surgery. As of today, that's 4 weeks and I was really hoping for 20lbs to be gone. I haven't lost anything for a week which is disconcerting after watching the scale go down pound by pound daily.
I've tried eating less carbs, more carbs, less calories, more calories, drink more Water, sleep a full 8 hours - nothing. My body is going to do what it's going to do and all I have to do is stick with the program. I'm done chasing it! I got other fish to fry like trying to eat solid food! Oy vey...
