  1. Has anyone had spasms of the stomach when first banded? I was banded on Monday, the 30th....after about 1 day post-op I developed a spasm of my stomach (which is uncomfortable) not lasting but a few seconds...It doesn't matter whether I have just drank somethimg cold, warm, or anything...I can just wake up and it will start to do that....I have had terrible soreness but mild gas pains...
  2. I have actually drank about 5 cups of broth throughout the day....eating popsicles, crystal lite, jello, and still starving...I can't have milk or yogurt until I advance to full liquids....As far as the pain, yes, I am extremely sore....I know to walk...Had and have no problem getting up and walking right after surgery and everyday because I know that is what will help me heal faster too....There is extreme soreness but nothing like my C-Sections and tubal....I don't feel I have any restriction but at times it feels as though my stomach is having spasms....I know I have no saline in my band but usually after surgery due to being swollen, most people are not hungry....My main concern isn't pain/soreness...I know this will go away with time....My main concern is I am starving and my doctor makes us do clear liquids for a week after surgery, then full liquids for a week, then mushies x 1 wk, then solids......My BP too has been sky high since surgery....I have never had a problem with my BP....I thought could possibly be from the discomfort I am having but I took pain med and 45mins later got up to go to the bathroom and my BP is sky high and only coming down slightly after taking pain meds...
  3. Thank you both for replying....I am feeling really down and out and thinking, why did I do this.....hopefully things will get better....thanks again for both of your posts....
  4. I just had surgery on Monday, the 30th.... Kim
  5. Hi Emmy, I am from Chattanooga area and Dr. Ponce banded me...I also had a hiatal hernia repair....I am literally starving as he wants me to do clear liquids for a week, then full liquids for a week, then mushies x 1 wk, and then solids....I don't think I am going to be able to make it to the full liquid stage....Have you done well with your surgery? When were you banded? I just got banded Monday and I have high tolerance of pain but it seems I can't get comfortable trying to sleep at night....I am having some strong back pain but it isn't gas pains. ..... I am concerned though, since I have had surgery my Blood Pressure has been running 160/106 - 155/98,,,,I have never, ever had high blood pressure....I first thought it might be due to pain, but it isn't.....anytime I get up moving around it does nothing but go up....I can be sitting in the recliner and check it, and it is sky high...i called his office but I hate to say this but they are pathetic to return a phone call...I don't have a PCP...so I guess i am going to have to find one quickly....did you have any problems???? also, I have read some threads where some people in other states or other doctors would do Upper GI's on the patients after surgery to make sure the band is intact....Dr. Ponce did not do that on me...did he do it on you??? right after surgery? well take care...Kim
  6. Unfortunately, clear liquids do not consist of milk or yogurt...Clear liquids is anything you can see through....I am starving on my clear liquids too....then next week i go to full liquids...take care...gotta run..
  7. My name is Kim....Oh, I am sorry to hear that but I do understand...I had surgery on the 30th...I am getting around great, but I am extremely sore....I'm not having much problems with gas but I am having pain in my epigastric area radiating to my back...I have never, not ever had any problems with high blood pressure....since surgery I am running 160/106 to 154/98...at first i thought it was due to pain but when i took pain med it barely dropped.....I called my doctor who hasn't even returned my call...I do not have A PCP so I am going to have to go get this taken care of....I am actually starving to death too! Are you?
  8. Carrie, I forgot to tell you my email address in my previous email to you....It is kstand6920@aol.com.... take care and thanks
  9. Carrie, Have you had good results with your banding?? Did he put you on a pre diet? Dr. Ponce is doing mine...I wasn't told to do anything except Clear liquids 24 hr. prior to sx. My surgery is on the 30th. Also, what made you decide to go to Dr. Paynter? Thanks, Katie
  10. There is an excellent surgeon in Chattanooga, TN...Dr. Ponce...He actually was one of the few to do lapbands on patients and was involved with the doctors who did extensive research on the band before it was released by the FDA...He is also located in Dalton, GA.
