Stomach spasms??? Or hunger?
It is not the noises that concern me, it is the "hunger pangs". It is happening after I eat or while I am eating and it is in the upper abdomen.

Stomach spasms??? Or hunger?
I have been feeling funny in my tummy for the past 24 hours. Just wondering what this is. If you don't know me, I was banded on Sept 30th, so I am 3.5 weeks post op. I had complications after surgery and ended up in the hospital for a week (possible reaction to the band, possible infection). I have been doing fine since then and I am now on mushies. Since my surgery I have lost 28 lbs. I am on CPAP and I noticed that my stomach was filling with air while I sleep, so I turned down the pressure...All better now, but it worried me that I was stretching out my stomach. I hadn't really been hungry, but yesterday I felt like my stomach was growling all day. Even after eating I felt this weird "bubble-like/rumbling" feeling in my stomach. I took some lortab elixer and it seemed to help. My surgeon's office told me that they would give me a fill when ever I felt like I needed it, but I thought I would put it off as long as I could since I was loosing weight and since I had complications(wanted to let everything heal good). Is this spasms or is it hunger? Should I get a fill?

WHY are people voting for McCain?
Gadgetlady was not the reason I left the thread (wait, I am still here!). The abortion issue will not be solved on Lapband talk. But it is an important issue to many people when deciding on which candidate to choose. It is a legitimate topic as long as insults are not thrown around.

Tricare Denial..REVERSED!!
The thing about the website is that it is about 48 hours or more behind. For those of us that are OCD, well, it drives up bonkers waiting!!

Tricare Denial..REVERSED!!
Karina, after all of this, your blood pressure should be sky high! So, after 90 days don't you have to resubmit everything? If they deny it, then what?

Tricare Denial..REVERSED!!
They had a 5 pack of color tipped ones at Walmart. They match my Magic Bullet mugs...I'm such a girl! WTG Maggie on your surgery date. Trust me..I know it seems like a long time but it will fly by. Take this time to mental prepare and "mourn" the fried mozzerella stix, the cheese dips and the Carmel Machiotto Cappuccinos. It will be easier post op!

Tricare Denial..REVERSED!!
Let us know (I know that goes without saying!) I hope it is soon. I wanted mine before the holidays. I just didn't think I could make it through another Christmas being fat. Every year I would tell myself (after I saw the family photos), "next year I am gonna be skinny!" Then my birthday is in Jan. and I think the same thing. This time Is going to be different!

Tricare Denial..REVERSED!!
Yes, my approval letter had something in there stating that Tricare may not pay for cosmetic surgery related to weight loss.

Puree Meat, I don't think so!
My chicken was very dry. More like very finely chopped. If I was allowed to eat shaved meat, then I figured this was fine. Some people add the low fat gravy to their meat.

Puree Meat, I don't think so!
My surgeon's office said that thin shaved turkey was good. I could eat it just like that. I pureed chicken breast. No, it wasn't liquid but it was very very finely chopped. You can add broth to it if you need to.

Leaving the Debates
I am right with you Steve. Although I occasionally read the posts, I stopped posting myself. Got tired of the insults and belittling.

Mourning food-venting
I mourned food (especially fast food) and I was miserable. I have learned to be very creative with my pureed food. I try to walk or exercise when it is not time to eat or when others are eating Water Water Water I bought a food diary and a very good calorie/protein/carb counter book. It is amazing how many calories are in the foods I used to eat. No wonder I was fat! I have posted this on other sites, but I will share with you: Oh my! I just made the most awesome Protein shake. pumpkin Spice Protein shake: (sorry, I didn't measure the ingredients) 1 scoop of vanilla Protein powder about 2 TBS of Vanilla yogurt Some canned pumpkin Splash of milk Pack of Splenda Cinnamon Ice Blend to perfection! So creamy and yummy!!

I am on Mushies/Pureed. I have tried to be very creative, as I tend to get bored with bland food and will jump on the carbs.

Pics of scars..R they normal?
Post op day 3 Mine turned red and warm to the touch. I went to the surgeon's office and had the nurse look a it and she said it looked infected and gave me a shot of Rocephin. I went home and later had nausea and vomiting...couldn't keep water down. I went to the ER and was in the hospital for a week. They said it either was an infection (MRSA) or a reaction to the band. My site looked similar to yours. Have your surgeon look at it first thing in the morning. I would rather them say it was nothing than for it to be infected and you end up loosing your band.

Tricare Denial..REVERSED!!
I mentioned it before, but I would highly recommend little baby spoons. I am used to eating very fast and taking big bites, and this helps me out tremendously!

NSAIDS caused problem
Motrin comes in a liquid too...it should pass through your band and not irritate your stomach as much as the pill sitting in your pouch. My surgeon says "NO PILLS at all" so I bought all of my Tylenol and other meds as liquids. My prescription meds are crushed. Any other prescription meds I get as a liquid.

Waiting on approval and need someone to talk too!
Welcome to Lapband talk. You are in the right place. This waiting time will give you the opportunity to do some soul searching. This whole process is a mental thing. I had the roller coaster ride. I had my hopes up, was denied by insurance, appealed, and got the denial reversed. Had my surgery on Sept 30th. and ended up having complications and ended up in the hospital for a week. I have no regrets, but this band and my new life mean everything to me. So, while you are waiting, read EVERYTHING you can get your hands on. This site is a great resource. There are also books out there too. Good Luck!!
