Brina, I read somewhere (can't remember if it was a book, my surgeon's office, or here) that there needs to be special consideration when intubating the patient with a lapband. As with any patient, an incorrect placement of the tube into the esophagus can cause air to enter the stomach. Usually it is verified immediately by Xray anyway, or a CO2 detector. I am considering getting a bracelet just in case I ever need to have an emergent NG tube placement. I don't want someone puncturing my stomach trying to get it past the band. As far as tube feedings, I would hope they would have gotten an abdominal xray for placement, or my family would have notified them of my lapband before starting them. BTW, we love our Vet! One of my cocker spaniels has been up all night bugging me...must be a rabbit or deer outside (or a skunk!).

Noela, Thanks for posting. This process is very physical AND mental. My surgery is on the 30th and I am trying to get in the right frame of mind. I just hope I don't sabotage this like I have every other diet I have been on. Here is to a healthier better life. :cursing: You look great by the way!!

I can say from my experience that most of the military guys do NOT like CNN. The military families I know all watch Fox and believe them to be the most balanced. You have to remember that Hannity is on with his side kick so that they give both sides..Hannity is far right, and Colms is far left. Not only will the next President lead our country, he will lead our military. Since my son and daughter are in the Army (my husband just retired after 28 yrs) he will be their "boss". We can't fathom Obama doing that role. We knew before the war started that this war was going to take awhile...at least 10 years or longer was what we were told, after all, we were leaving a country without a government. I also remember before we went into Iraq...Democrats were all over Bush for not going in there and doing something about Saddam. It is a FACT that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction...he used them on his own people. The security of our country is one of the main issues for me. I do not like Mccain's view on illegal immigrants (don't get me wrong her, I am for immigration, but not ILLEGAL immigration). I am much better off now than what I was when Clinton was in office. I don't like the gas prices, but I don't believe Bush has much control over that. I am pro-life. In cases of incest or rape, or the mother's life is in danger would be the only exception for me. It is legal in this country, but I don't have to like it. We are small business owners Our business is a Gunsmithing shop I work in Healthcare..I am not for universal healthcare. I do not believe in a Socialist government I have a gay brother...so my view on gay marriage are a little different from some republicans I don't like Palin just because she is a woman. I like her because her views are very similar to mine and I think she is a good balance for McCain. And, I believe people with lower BMI's can get a lapband if they make an educated decision with their surgeon and it is medically needed.

I think it's sad when I hear women say "Oh it's so nice he picked a woman". It's for that very reason he picked her, to get the female vote. Aren't you the least bit angry that the whole reason McCain picked HER is because he thinks women will vote for McCain solely based on the fact that his running mate is a woman! It really pisses me off that the republican party thinks I would be so shallow or blind to vote solely on gender and not on the issues at hand. Kinda like African Americans voting for him just because he is black.
