Hi William Good luck on your journey fella. I would say take it easy and build it up slowly. The band is attached to the stomach muscles so any excessive working on the stomach muscles can cause discomfort. I have taken a few hits in the stomach playing rugby but all seems ok, its when I work my stomach muscles to much I fell the strain. Its also having the confidence to do stuff, if you know what I mean. I am more than happy to chat anytime mate. either on here or my email, kevgoodall@sky.com or 01908240414. Take care and good luck. Kevin

Lap Banding - Where to go?

I did belgium, approx 12 months ago. It cost me 3k plus acoomodation so in total 3.5k, the after care has been great. Look into it, its half the price of the UK and the same if not better care.

Hi Vixen Hope you get to finally get the surgery. I remember going into my doctors about 16/18 months ago and asking if it was possible to go forward to lapband surgey on the NHS and he said well we can try, so I went and had blood tests and when the nurse took some blood I explained to her my story, about the surgery and she asked, well why dont you just eat less and exercise, surely its as simple as that. I remember saying to her I need something physical done as mentally I cannot manager and surely having this done would be a less cost to the NHS in the long run and she laughed and replied I should take responsibility and the NHS should be focused towards those who needed it. I realised at that point, that narrow mindlessness runs deep in the NHS. Those like me out there love food more than survival, if given the choice whilst buying a large kebab with chips and fizzy drink and the possibility of dying that night, I would think thats not a bad bet and take the kebab, and I guess those reading this would connect with what I have just written. Im getting to deep, enjoy life. Anyone reading this, if its by NHS or private, just do it. You will never look back. Now I have had the surgery, I no longer fancy that kebab because life is better without it. x

well, its nearing my anniversary. 1 year in and I still think to myself, should have done it sooner. Still maintaining 14st 10lbs 15t]st 2ll]bs, seem to fluctuate between those 2 weights. PLayed rugby for the first time in 6 years and one 3rd team player of the year at the club dinner the other night. Before the dinner I was asked directly how I lost the wieght, did I have an op and for the first time I told a lot of friends about it, nobody had asked me directly before, so had kept it to myself. Well heres to another year. Kindest regards to all and to all those thinking of doing ti whilst reading this, go for it, you will not regret it.

well, it seems like months since I have been online telling my story. After many many games of rugby and maintaining the weight somehwere between 14st10lbs and 15st3lbs, I am due back to have a fill tomorrow, which I think may be my last. I seem to have lost virtually all restriction now and need another fill to keep the weight loss around 14st12lbs. Although its down to the mind now taking over, I feel the need for another fill. Life is so so different now, down to a 32 waist 44/46 chest depending on style, it wonderful. Even now still coming across friends I haven't seen for sometime and seeing their jaws drop when they see me, the last tiem they saw me I was 21st 2lbs. Incredible. X

Well, felt brave today and had my first sandwich since June. I had wholemeal bread, with mayo, bacon and tomatoes, YUMMMMMMMMMMMM. Took some time to eat and I left some but how wonderful a feeling that is. Down too 14st 10lbs now, played many games of rugby, taken many big hits on the pitch and its feels ok. Anyhting is posisble folks. Merry Xmas and a wonderful new year to those just had the op or due to have it in 2009. Keving X
