well, felt like a small piece of cod and a spoonful of mash last night after 10 days of Soup, it was great, felt very full and content. Then this morning had 2 pieces of small wholemeal toast, ate very slowly and was really really full towards the end of 2nd piece. I am so please I did this, back to work on Monday, hurrah!

Hi William Good luck on your journey fella. I would say take it easy and build it up slowly. The band is attached to the stomach muscles so any excessive working on the stomach muscles can cause discomfort. I have taken a few hits in the stomach playing rugby but all seems ok, its when I work my stomach muscles to much I fell the strain. Its also having the confidence to do stuff, if you know what I mean. I am more than happy to chat anytime mate. either on here or my email, kevgoodall@sky.com or 01908240414. Take care and good luck. Kevin

Lap Banding - Where to go?

I did belgium, approx 12 months ago. It cost me 3k plus acoomodation so in total 3.5k, the after care has been great. Look into it, its half the price of the UK and the same if not better care.

Hi Vixen Hope you get to finally get the surgery. I remember going into my doctors about 16/18 months ago and asking if it was possible to go forward to lapband surgey on the NHS and he said well we can try, so I went and had blood tests and when the nurse took some blood I explained to her my story, about the surgery and she asked, well why dont you just eat less and exercise, surely its as simple as that. I remember saying to her I need something physical done as mentally I cannot manager and surely having this done would be a less cost to the NHS in the long run and she laughed and replied I should take responsibility and the NHS should be focused towards those who needed it. I realised at that point, that narrow mindlessness runs deep in the NHS. Those like me out there love food more than survival, if given the choice whilst buying a large kebab with chips and fizzy drink and the possibility of dying that night, I would think thats not a bad bet and take the kebab, and I guess those reading this would connect with what I have just written. Im getting to deep, enjoy life. Anyone reading this, if its by NHS or private, just do it. You will never look back. Now I have had the surgery, I no longer fancy that kebab because life is better without it. x

well, its nearing my anniversary. 1 year in and I still think to myself, should have done it sooner. Still maintaining 14st 10lbs 15t]st 2ll]bs, seem to fluctuate between those 2 weights. PLayed rugby for the first time in 6 years and one 3rd team player of the year at the club dinner the other night. Before the dinner I was asked directly how I lost the wieght, did I have an op and for the first time I told a lot of friends about it, nobody had asked me directly before, so had kept it to myself. Well heres to another year. Kindest regards to all and to all those thinking of doing ti whilst reading this, go for it, you will not regret it.

well, it seems like months since I have been online telling my story. After many many games of rugby and maintaining the weight somehwere between 14st10lbs and 15st3lbs, I am due back to have a fill tomorrow, which I think may be my last. I seem to have lost virtually all restriction now and need another fill to keep the weight loss around 14st12lbs. Although its down to the mind now taking over, I feel the need for another fill. Life is so so different now, down to a 32 waist 44/46 chest depending on style, it wonderful. Even now still coming across friends I haven't seen for sometime and seeing their jaws drop when they see me, the last tiem they saw me I was 21st 2lbs. Incredible. X

Well, felt brave today and had my first sandwich since June. I had wholemeal bread, with mayo, bacon and tomatoes, YUMMMMMMMMMMMM. Took some time to eat and I left some but how wonderful a feeling that is. Down too 14st 10lbs now, played many games of rugby, taken many big hits on the pitch and its feels ok. Anyhting is posisble folks. Merry Xmas and a wonderful new year to those just had the op or due to have it in 2009. Keving X

had my 2nd fill yesterday, was advised only to have 1ml as I still have restriction and my weight loss has been excellent, in the words of Dr Chris's opo. So, advice is not to have any more fills for the foreseeable future as I would become too skinny, nice words to hear, although I fill I am a long way from the end of this, my mind still wnats to eat quickly and my eyes still wants a large chicken kebab with chips from time to time, with loads of oninons and chilli sauce but I know I couldn''t.

well, due my 2nd fill next Thursday with Dr Chris, really looking forward to it as I seem to have stabalised at just over 15st. Hopefully this will be my last fill as I have been told by my wife that I am becoming too skinny, so thats a mark for me, I have said that I want to reach 14st 10lbs and then stay at that weight for the forseeable future. That would be a total loss of 90lbs = 6st 4lbs in 6 months so I would be estatic, my goal was to hity 15st and being 14st something was a dream. The last time I weighed 14st something I was 15. So heres to next Thursday. K

    dont know what to do?

I think if anyone asks me if I have had a band fitted I would be honest and say yes, but I would never tell people. The only people in my life who know are my wife, mum and step father.

Is My GP getting my hopes up

Hi hope you get it. My experiene was, with a BMI of 42 and high blood pressure, my GP referred me but they sent a letter back saying as I didn't have diabetese they would not consider me, so I went it alone and have never looked back. I really hope you gte a band on the NHS, but seriously doubt that any PCT will accept you without diabetese. good luck

Played my second game of rugby in as many weeks yesterday and although I am bruised all over and aching head to toe, I feel great as I thought after the op I would never get to play again. I also reached a great goal today, I hit the 15st 5lb mark which gave me a BMI of 29.5 and am now overweight and no longer in the obese section under the BMI calculators, what a great feeling, I was down as morbidly obese, then I got into the obese section and now just overweight, how wonderful life is.
  18. whats really interesting here is, with a BMI of 42 I was refused banding by the NHS because I only had high blood pressure and nothing else, like diabetese. Although my doctor said I was high risk. So I had to go and abroad and use Dr Chris for the surgery and haven't looked back. This isn't talked about, only one side of the story, so no balance applied. Anyone looking at the film will instantly say greedy man, but hey what he siad was not illegal, merely assisting someone wishing comsmetic surgery.

well nearly 3 weeks in from my first fill and everything has slowed right down. I had a couple of days with lots of reflux and now very little restriction and the weight loss is virtually zero. Although I am finding it easy to maintain the weight I am currently at (15st 10lbs). So now looking forward to my next fill approx 5 weeks away. I f I can loss maybe another 3/4 lbs that would be great. My expectations of maybe getting into the 14st something weight now seems so close. I have gone from a 42 waist to a 34, I have gone from a 20 inch neck to a 17inch. Will be starting to play rugby within the next 2 weeks, so all is really good. I spoke with Dr Chris about playing rugby again and he said 2 of his patients are doing karate at a high level and wear no protection for thier ports. So I am going to give it a go, with this new lease of life.

All seems to be ok today, no reflux so far. I think it might have somehting to do with me feeling like I have a cold, I sem to feel better today. Anyone had this, feeling under the weather and had reflux more than normal?

Hiya, good news on your weight loss so far, keep going. I have no idea whats going on with me these past 2 days, I have had nothing but reflux, 4 incidents today alone. Think I might stay on Soups for a week. Anyone know why, I am not doing anyhting different, no change in food, eating slowly. So no reason, the body is a weird thing.

well 3 days in form having 1st fill on Thursday, full restriction again. I am only able to eat half a slice of wholemeal toast in the morning, although I am still toasting 2 slices, I guess the dogs are doing well in the morning as they also love wholemeal and lime marmalade. Family had a chinese takeaway yesterday, I managed half a cup of chicken and mushroom soup, after 20 mins I gave up eating the rest. I also tried some egg fried rice with sweet and sour sauce and only managed a couple fo spoonfuls. I had a handful of grapes later on. So all in all, back to the restriction I had when I had the op, so am well happy. Hopefully can get into the 14st mark within the next month, am down to 15st 12lbs.
