pdc1605 reacted to Betty1971 in inches instead of pounds?
Holy cats, has anyone measured themselves in inches instead of pounds? I am using the app Baritastic to log my food and for fun I took my measurements at right before surgery and then at the two week post op and now today. If anyone gets caught up in the scale I would highly suggest keeping track of measurements. The scale has slowed down a tad this last week, its still trending down ward but not as swiftly as the last few weeks but the I have lost 18 inches in two weeks!
I thought that must be an error so I tried on some clothes because clothes don't lie right?? I mean the last two weeks have been stretch pants, sweat pants and PJs most of the time and you really do not notice much in them so I got out some blue jeans and tops and I can say that the measuring tape does not lie either!!

It will get better. Keep walking and it will pass. I had those stomach spasms for about a week. They will pass. I'm 5 weeks out and feel great. It will pass!!

I got the news today. My surgery is Jan 28, 2021. Omg! I am so siked! My Dr laughted at me bcuz I was dancing 😂
I hv lost 6lbs w this diet in about 2mnths so I can imagine how much more I will b able to lose once this happens. The past 2yrs my weight has bn going up so I'm excited not to feel my stomach on my thighs when I sit or my fat under my chin when I bend my head 😅 that is so annoying to me😣 but in the long run I know it'll b worth it...... YAAAY! TO ME

Im coming up on 2 years and have never gained any weight. I admit I havent done a lot of what some people do in terms of tracking, never eating Pasta, rice etc. I do eat pretty much what I want but I dont like junk food or fried foods and I can only eat very small amounts of sugar. I feel like I havent gained because I never really considered this a diet, never radically altered the way I did things and just kinda try to stay healthy. I feel like some people get the surgery and go crazy eating the perfect Protein diet, gallons of Water and tracking every calorie. To me, that just wasnt sustainable. Im in this for the long haul. I guess I'm doing ok. 2 years ago I was a size 18 jeans and now I'm a size 8.

My only problem with the charcuterie board is....I LOVE IT TOO MUCH! I snacked the whole darn day...go in the kitchen, grab a bite of cheese and a small handful of nuts. 10 minutes later, some meat and cheese and a "healthy" cracker. Next time by, a couple of grapes and some cheese (mostly brie). It was delightful! I never felt too full...but I ate WAY too much over a period of about two hours. So my advice would be, make yourself a plate and step away from the charcuterie!

I have wanted to have surgery 20 years ago! My insurance wouldn't cover even with my comorbities. My new employer (22 years later) covers bariatric surgery! Went to my consultation today. My insurance requires only 3 months medically supervised program! No sleep study since I already have a cpap machine. First appointment is with the nutritionist January 19th!! Here we go! Hooray for me!!

pdc1605 reacted to JAKE H in This is when the scale can be dangerous!
The picture on the left came up on my memories from a year ago. I was 234 in that picture. The picture on the right is from today and im 235. I knew i wanted to build muscle, but the the thought of building muscle and watching the scale go up scared the hell out of me. But this is why pictures are important for us. I would much rather look like the 235 i am now, rather then the 234 i was a year ago. I know for me, i was so obsessed with the number on the scale, that i was starting to drive myself insane. Luckily i have an amazing nutritionist and life coach, who made me give up the scale and just take pictures once a week and trust her. I reluctantly did just that, and i couldnt be happier. YES the number on the scale is higher then it use to be. My low was 208 and ive now been between 225-235 for 4 months now. My waist is now smaller at 235 then it was at 208. My waist fits in a 32 size jean. Muscle really does weigh more. I just wanted to post this because i know i am not a lone. The scale can be scary, but it doesnt have to be. Building a healthy relationship with food and the scale have been difficult, but rewarding. Slowly but surely.

A few weeks ago my 26 year old, size 0, step-daughter stopped by to pick something up. Her words were something “Oh my gosh, you are sooooo tiny.” I weighed about 180 at the time. 🤣

This one was pretty funny, but I took it as a compliment. My husband’s band practices at our house. I have known all of the members for at least a couple of years. The lead singer hadn’t been here in 2-3 months. Two weeks ago, I walked into the house from the gym and greeted her. She looked at me with a puzzled look on her face and asked me to remind her who I was...she was serious. 🤣🤣🤣

Congrats @pdc1605!! I remember taking that first step very well. I. WAS. TERRIFIED. and totally unsure of myself. I clearly remember repeating over & over "what am I doing? what am I doing!?" Looking back now (5 months post-op) I can say without a doubt it was the BEST thing I've ever done for myself. Congrats on taking the leap. Can't wait to have you on the losers bench!

@ChubRub, @FindYourFire: Oh, going-back-to-work day is going to be FUN!
Reminds me of a wedding I went to when I was about 7 months post op in June 2019. I hadn't seen a lot of the extended family since the Christmas prior, so I looked pretty different, to say the least.
I saw one of Mr's uncles who is one of my faves and walked up to him and said hi and leaned in to give him a peck on the cheek. He looked at me very surprised (which I expected), but then he spoke to me very coldly (which I did not expect), and excused himself rather quickly. Ok, so that was weird.
During the ceremony, he leaned over the pew from behind me and gave me a hug from behind. When the ceremony was over he explained that when he saw me earlier he didn't know it was me and incorrectly assumed that Mr' and I had broken up or something and that I was the new girlfriend!! 😂😂😂😂😂 His wife had set him straight during the ceremony, hence the hug, LOL.
Glad to know that if Mr and I ever broke up, fave uncle has my back!
@ChubRub, @FindYourFire: Maybe you guys can show up pretending to be a new hire and see how far you get, lololololzzzzz
