  1. I totally forgot to check on that challenge...I am finally back int eh game though!! I ran Wednesday and yesterday...I struggled but made it.
  2. Hey Kathy, it went well, thanks for asking. Way less pain than I expected. I go tomorrow to get the stitches out and hopefully get the all clear to go back to "life as normal". I am antsy to get back to running. I hope your tummy feels better soon, some meds are just so harsh on our systems.
  3. I track the weight at home each Monday morning as well as the weight at the dr office. I change my tickers though, based off my home weight.
  4. Oh no, no worries...I am actually extending his guidelines. He says I can run after 7 days but I am leaning towards not running for 14. Thanks all, for the comments...I am ready for it to be over. I have my *farewell* run today, so I plan to savor it...LOL!
  5. I had my pre-op yesterday and he said no driving for 3 days and no running for 7. I'll play it by ear though, I am immunocompromised, so I don't want to hinder healing. I thought about walking only for a week and then back into running. We shall see. Best part though, no nasty pre and/or post-op diet...LOL!
  6. LOL! Don't worry too much about my mileage, it will soon go drastically down for a few weeks. My gallbladder removal is Monday.
  7. Are you feeling your port? That is where mine is.
  8. I asked my surgeon before surgery, since I use them all the time and was not looking forward to stopping. He said he didn't see any reason why not to. If the extra air bothers me, then stop but otherwise, don't worry about it. 7 months later, no issues.
  9. I had my 5K yesterday, the first one that I have officially RAN the whole way. I came in at 36:01. I really wanted a sub 35 number (which I know I can do) but the 96% humidity and 22mph wind gusts were working against me. I'd like to do another in April, but we shall see. I have my gallbladder out March 9th and I am not sure how long they'll want me to stop running...if not, next one is a 4.4 mile in May.
  10. So, I thought my next race was going to be the Gate-to-Gate 4.4 mile run on Memorial Day, but I took the plunge and entered a 5K on Saturday. With my upcoming gallbladder surgery, we don't know 100% about the GtG anymore...blah. I won't get to run today, since my dh has his AF PT test, so I'll run Friday morning. Between a short run Friday morning and the 5K, I should hit 40+ miles this month...the most I have ran so far. thatDEgirl - RUNNER+
  11. Same here, I did really well the first several months after banding controlling the sugar and now it is controlling me again. Hence why I am giving up sweets/dessert for Lent. Wow, only 20 minutes?! I thought our 30 minute rule was crazy!
  12. I have had a few minor complications (one overfill which was miserable and now I need my gallbladder out due to excessive rapid weight loss) but I have absolutely ZERO regrets. I feel great, can still eat pretty much anything, just less. I am a runner now...I would have never imagined that. The band has been the very greatest thing I have ever done for myself...there is nothing that I personally miss enough to *regret* the band.
  13. I love my Nike+ and would love it even more if I could get it properly calibrated...it is typically a tenth of a mile low. I can't wear Nike shoes, so I have a sensor pouch. Started with this one ( [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Marware-Sportsuit-Sensor-Sport-Black/dp/B000ID6DTG?&camp=212361&linkCode=wsw&tag=podophile-20&creative=380789]Amazon.com: Marware Sportsuit Sensor Case for Nike + iPod Sport Kit for iPod nano 3G (Black): Electronics[/ame] ) and hated it. Found this one ( [ame=http://www.switcheasy.com/products/Runaway/Runaway.php#]Welcome to SwitchEasy[/ame] ) and love it. As for running days, there have been numerous times I have ran 2 days in a row and I noticed no ill effects. I personally can't run 3 days in a row (as I rudely found out) but I also have a unique situation with my health.
  14. There are several out there, but not made by Nike. Do a search for c25k or couch to 5k podcast. I personally used Robert Ulrey's until about week 7 or so when I could no longer stand his music choices...LOL!
  15. Welcome! I am also a military wife and had lap band done last summer. I have had a few bumps along the way, but still think this was the best thing I have EVER done for myself. Sure, I worried about the what if's, but I also worried about the what if's if I didn't get it done. You have to be ready, but you'll definitely find support here!
  16. BTW, do any of you use facebook? If so, I'd love to have you as friends... Lacey Klare Buchorn | Facebook
  17. Thanks ladies! I just wonder how long it will keep me out of running..hopefully not too long, I go nuts not running at least a few times a week now. As for the cancer on the shoe, I have thought about it but still never done it. Most days it doesn't bother me, nor do I give it a second thought...this was just a bad week. Cool, I have only *met* one other person with my name. My daughter's name is Jacey, I like unique names. So, I ran today but got to the gym without my Nike+ receiver (sorry, teammates). I was going to do my long run but didn't since I couldn't track it. Hopefully the gym won't be crowded tomorrow, so I can do my long run.
  18. You'll get there! I started the C25K back in September running at a 4.5mph. I can now run 5 miles straight at 5.0mph.
  19. I ran yesterday and today, but they weren't me best runs. It's been a rough week, my 1 year cancer diagnosis anniversary and then today found out my gallbladder has to come out. Have any of you had to have yours removed? I hope that the surgery can be scheduled soon (if it has to happen), for selfish reasons. I HAVE to run the Gate-to-Gate 4.4 mile run this year...LOL!
  20. I was having what we now think was gallbladder *attacks* about 2 weeks ago (I thought I was just too tight). U/S showed gallstones and now the decision is to remove it now or later...
  21. I have went from a 44DD to a 38C so far...I don't miss the old ones though!
  22. This is going to be an off week for me. I ran yesterday (ran for 5 miles straight at 5.0mph, longest, fastest run yet) but I won't get to run again till Friday..blah. I will be gone Thursday morning until Friday afternoon for a staff retreat out at Blue Lake.
  23. After I finished the C25K program, I really started to work on my speed and it kicked my butt in the beginning. I am FINALLY up to 5mph for 40 minutes straight but never thought I would get there. I plan to run today, but we shall see. I haven't been running much lately because my nutrition (and in turn my energy) has been bad. I got tight when my cycle came last week and have been on practically liquids since then...the tightness hasn't let up, even though the cycle left, so I will be getting an unfill tomorrow. Thank goodness!
  24. I didn't get the new one...
