Congratulations!!! Are you excited?

I am 5'5" and 215. I travel to Vegas from Colorado for my surgery. Decided to drive to avoid covid.

I love chicken pad Thai so much, but I haven't had it in months. I used to eat a full order in a sitting at least once a week. Last night i asked if they could replace the rice noodles with bean sprouts and ate 1/4th of an order (about 1 cup). My husband's full order is included for comparison. It was amazing!

I've been in maintenance for four years. I eat about as much as many of my never-been-obese women friends who are constantly watching what they eat. In other words, if I go out, I'll get something like a salad or an appetizer. Or if I order an entree, I'll take half of it home (or maybe 2/3 of it if it's enormous). If I'm out and we order a pizza, I'll eat one or two pieces. So yes - I'd say I eat like your normal "light eater". No one would be able to tell at this point that I've had bariatric surgery, just by observing what I eat.
this is NOT true the first year or so (and definitely not the first few months). But once you're in maintenance, yes.

Oh my gosh, it went fantastically well. I did not love traveling from Atlanta to Las Vegas during Covid but that worked out OK. My companion, my husband, was a little bored in Vegas, given that we were being so careful. The hotel was wonderful, the staff was wonderful, my surgery went off without a hitch. The in-room fluids and next day fluids were lifesavers. I was back at work five days after surgery. Here is where I am -
5’9” - 52 years old
HW - 255
SW - 237 - BMI 35
CW - 217 - BMI 32
GW - 165

Walk. Sounds simple, but I swear by it.

I'm starting my preop a week early also. I find that its takes 3 weeks for my brain to process sugar withdrawal and I dont want to deal with that postop

Sounds like we're on the same program. I am so jealous you're almost a month before me! LOL I can't wait to hear about your experience!

My surgery is scheduled 12/9, I am so excited. I start my liquid diet on 11/30, literally six days from now. I don't think I have been this excited since giving birth. This is to a new me! I can't wait!

Fantastic! I am dec 29th. Fingers crossed that covid doesn't delay mine.

Finally received the approval from insurance today. Surgery scheduled for Dec 8th. Excited and scared

That’s awesome. I was saving to use them as self pay when my insurance changed and started covering the sleeve this year. Interested to hear how it goes!

Got my official preop paperwork today. I have a lot of homework. I’m going to have to take a day off to get this all done. New ECG, CXR, labs, weigh in, preop at hospital. Then another weigh in 2-3 days before surgery. All while on a liquid diet. He only asked me to lose 5-10 pounds. I already feel like I’m going to lose 20 on this diet.....feeling a little dramatic tonight.

I underwent VSG at Blossom Bariatrics/Warm Springs Surgical Center on 1/24/19. My surgeon was Dr. Matt Apel. I have nothing but positive things to say. Their staff members were amazing, but more importantly, they were completely thorough in everything they did- from the pre-op work-up, to surgery, to the IV infusion the day after surgery. They even emailed me copies of the surgical report and pathology reports. Everything was spectacular. The hotel they put us in was nice, clean, and quiet. The presidential ground transportation they provided was also very convenient for out of towners like myself. I’m a registered nurse with a background in pre-op/post-op, so I tend to pay attention to things that most people don’t notice. I found absolutely nothing to critique. Every T was crossed, and every I was dotted. I honestly can’t think of a single thing to complain about. If your insurance won’t pay to have bariatric surgery done locally (and even if it does), then I 110% whole-heartedly recommend Blossom Bariatrics.

December 2nd here! Hubby and I are doing a mini Thanksgiving the day before the 2 week pre op diet starts so I won't miss out. [emoji4] Christmas is going be be a whooooole new experience though! [emoji318][emoji1762][emoji319][emoji301]
