  1. I'm only 38 but after losing my weight, my neighbor asked if I had cancer. They had cancer near that time and were just worried about me losing "so much weight"

    Binge eating

I also have BED. I started going to a psych a while before surgery. Since I have ADHD and BED I was prescribed Vyvanse. It isn't for everyone but it helps me to contain it. I also have a regular psych visit which helps to eliminate the issues that I have with food and my emotional state. It may be worth talking with your psych about if that is something you are interested in.

    Sucker

Sugar free popsicles were my life saver during pre/post op. Jello also helped me as well.
  4. Costco has a few items that are premade that we have had that are quite delicious and moderately nutritious. Egg bites, frozen chicken enchiladas that have a chicken tortilla, egg turkey and cheese breakfast sandwiches (the egg replaces the bread), and cauliflower crusted pizza.
  5. Hopefully this is helpful for you. To up my calories I have added in low sugar trail mix which is mainly just a mix of healthy nuts. I have also added in two extra snacks a day to also help add in calories. I also found higher calorie but still low sugar protein bars that I take as an added meal.

    November 2020 sleevers

Today is my wife and my surgery anniversary. We are both down over 120 lbs since our high weights!
  7. I just took my family to Miami and we rented a car no problem. They had plenty in fact.

    Last Supper

My wife and I had surgery together and the last meal we had before surgery was Sushi. At 1 year out, we are able to tolerate rice but haven't had a true sushi roll since. I also haven't had a soda in over 1 year now and don't miss them as I wasn't a regular soda drinker.

Am I done losing after 5 months?

My wife and I had surgery together almost 1 year ago. We lost almost lb for lb for the first 6 months. After 6 months I was almost done losing but she still had a bit more to go and she continued to lose. Her weight loss slowed down and then stalled for the past few months and just started moving again. Staying with the program that you have will help keep you on track. There will definitely be times where the weight falls off and then times where you are stuck at the same weight.

    OOTD

With all of the bee talk I am going to chime in too. I actually have 4 beehives that I maintain so I get stung on occasion. The worst stings that I received were after I moved a beehive at night and two bees crawled up the back of my legs and stung me behind both knees. It was like there were baseballs behind my knees. I had to go to my allergist to get a steroid cream to reduce them down.
  11. I want to preface this that I am not an expert, but I also didn't notice how much water/liquids you are currently consuming. I know that if you don't get enough water in, that you will retain it until you have enough. If you are eating the proper calories which it sounds like, you wouldn't be gaining actual weight. Are you working out more? If so, then you might also be gaining muscle. I hope this helps but that is all that I can come up with. If you do continue with this weight gain problem, then checking with you dietician/surgeon may be a good idea as well.

    What if

Congratulation on having the surgery and entering this journey. For me, I have lost all that I have wanted to lose at this point. My doctor wanted me to weigh around 175 but I kept on losing and ended up at right around 160. I have been able to maintain my weight within a 5lb variance since I made it down to 160 by eating more. If I ate less, I would lose weight again but only if I tried to do so. As I am not trying to do that, I increased my intake and now consume a reasonable amount of calories daily. My wife and I had surgery on the same day. She had a bit more to lose than I did and she still wants to lose another 40 or so lbs while I have made it to a maintainable weight. To increase my calories I have added 2 additional snacks a day. Almost every day I have 1-2 oz of low sugar trail mix to help increase the calories. The high calorie nuts have definitely helped me in stabilizing my weight. I do have other mixed nuts on occasion but I tend to prefer the trail mix. My portion size has not increased too much lately so that is why I had to add more snacks during my day. For now this is working for me and I plan to keep it this way until the 2-3 year regain that is likely. Unlike some of the others, I am just now entering my maintenance phase. I do feel like I look quite a bit older now but I was already losing my hair and balding. I'm not sure if this will change for me or if I will look a bit younger again, but this was also bound to happen to me as balding is common in my family.

    Headaches... ugh

I also had a major headache during the liquid diet. I strained some progresso soups because of their sodium content and just drank the broth. My headache almost entirely went away after that. This could definitely be electrolytes.
  14. I have donated quite a bit and donated about 1 month before surgery. I asked my surgeon on his recommendation on when I can donate again and he stated he wanted to have me wait about 1 year. Right after surgery I had an issue with getting light headed/having to stabilize against a wall quite a bit. It does seem to be subsiding but it has taken quite a few months for this to stabilize. I would get your surgeons recommendation and to play it by ear for when you feel healthy enough to start donating again. I am planning on donating this October but that could change if I don't feel quite healthy enough to not have any issues. This is just my personal experience so it could definitely be different based upon your surgeon and your own individual health.

Once a year for the rest of forever

My wife and I went directly to the surgeon and he is not part of a bariatric clinic. He also has annual follow-ups just like your clinic. He does have us use our PCP to gather the labs that check for nutrient or other issues.
